Watching the ESPN coverage tonight. Let’s see what the national perspective is.

Richard Jefferson on the espn telecast and no he is not very good at his job.

I can’t believe this game is also nationally televised. I haven’t seen this many Kings games since I cancelled League Pass!
I wish Barnes was worth half his salary.
He is the definitive replacement level player. Paying him more than $5M or so is a Vlade-level misapplication of resources. Fivethirtyeight expects him to contribute 0.9 wins this season. His label is dubious starter.
I now know why GR3 signed here for the minimum.
Smart move by him. Unfortunately he’s a worse player. Looks like a 3 and D wing; plays like a chucker.

Man that Fox shot looks bad right now
First game I’ve really watched this year. Players must be loving all the extra seating space they get now and their individual coolers. They’ll hate giving that up. Whiteside looks great defensive, looks about as offensive as a monolith.
This guy Steph Curry is kind of good
We’ve now seen 4 consequtive negative plus/minus performances by the presumed starting 5. Really can’t see a unit with both Bagley and Holmes being successful. Spacing and overall play looks a lot better when they use Barnes/Belly at the 4 and rotate one of Whiteside/Holmes at the 5 (we have only seen Bagley playing alongside Holmes in his 4 stints).
I think Barnes might be the issue as well. Just doesn’t seem athletic enough at the 3 and his shooting doesn’t make up for it. I hope he proves me wrong.
We can safely shut down the point Bagley experiment.
I never thought I’d miss Grant, but our current announcing tandem sucks.

Bagley seems to have improved at his decision making when working in isolation. It used to be tunnel vision for the basket and there was no way he would pass. He’s gone to work from the mid post and kicked it to an open man on more than one occasion this preseason. I know, it’s what you’d expect out of a #2 pick, but it wasn’t happening before and it is now. These are the types of improvements he needed to make. Good to see.

and I am wondering why they are not running pick and roll / pick and pop with Bagley and a PG ? (just like Guy and Holmes in previous possession)

Fox is definitely struggling right now. I am hoping that the regular season gets him out of this funk.
Fox 3PT and FT shooting still been awful this entire preseason

It’s almost like Fox is determined to work on his iso drives to the lane tonight.
That is the problem with evaluating guys in the preseason. We don’t know if they are just testing stuff out.

The defense looks active. But, Dubs are still finding ways to score. Hield is doing a great job increasing his trade value. I think the Dubs will miss the playoffs again this year. I don’t think they will be terrible. But, The West is brutal, as always. Fox is in total regression mode. His outside shot looks hideous. Did he work on this over the past few months? It certainly looks like he was playing far too many video games instead.
It’s as if Walton is having Guy try the PnR w Holmes tonight. Giving him more opportunity to see if he can handle another aspect of what is necessary to be an NBA rotation PG/G. Worked very well once w Holmes getting an and 1 dunk but the next time it failed and GSW ran back and nailed a 3. I like that Luke is testing him tho.

My goodness fox shot does not look good so far. He’s aiming it and does not seem confident with it at all
He is not even making the stuff around the rim. The dude is just off right now. Looks tired. I hope he looks better to start the season….

They won’t do that because of Bagley but if they wanted to win that would be the best unit to do it

Jefferson is drinking heavy tonite. Predicts the Dubs will be Top 4 in the West. The Kings in the playoff mix, as well.
Have enjoyed watching the preseason, and hoping Fox takes it up another level soon.

Jefferson is just horrendous. How does this get on a national telecast???? Anybody catch how he said if Marvin had been healthy last year kings would have been 12-13 games better….so MVP like WARP numbers? Ludicrous statement and I don’t hate Marvin.
BTW why did Marvin not get back in after first run in 3rd quarter? Didn’t seem any worse than the rest of the starters.
