The Sacramento Kings have come home after a two game trip to San Francisco with their first playoff series in 17 years now a best of three against the defending champion Golden State Warriors. Beat up, frustrated and struggling to hit open shots, the Kings have to figure out how to stop their skid quick, or risk heading into the weekend as the next Western Conference candidates for elimination. Can the comfort of home give Kevin HueRter, Keegan Murray and the rest of our shooters the boost they need to drag their numbers back to the mean? Can De’Aaron Fox continue his fantastic playoff debut with a splint now firmly wrapped around his broken index finger? Will Draymond Green follow up his previous exit from the Golden 1 Center with something even more worthy of the jeers from the Sacramento crowd?
Let’s talk playoff basketball!
When: Wednesday, April 26th, 7:00 PM PT
Where: Golden 1 Center, Sacramento, CA
TV: TNT, NBCSCA
Radio: Sactown Sports 1140
For Your Consideration
Fit To Be Tied: Not a single soul in Sacramento thought that this first round match-up against the Warriors was going to be easy. Despite the jokes, the memes, the ribbing at the expense of our silicon-soft neighbors to the West, there isn’t a single reasonable person that believed Golden State would slide out of their historic run over the last decade with whatever the basketball equivalent is to an Irish good-bye. Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green have too much pride, too much of a legacy still too establish, too many ideas for dirty plays that remain uncommitted to just lose two straight in Sacramento and decide the band was breaking up. And yes, to give a reminder to those who forgot, those are the stakes of this series – the dissolution of the Golden State Warriors as currently constructed. With Klay demanding a max extension, Green’s contract flexibility coming into this free agency period, and ownership stating that they’re not paying near half a yard next year for anything short of championship contender, a first round exit at the hand of the team they view as Kirkland-brand Warriors could have a rippling effect that could sink the entire bay area in a wall of salty tears.
We knew at close of day that these Warriors would burn and rave and rage, rage against the dying of the light. Now with only two games left guaranteed to be played, the Kings are still in a position to extinguish that light once and for all.
The Kings certainly have to play better than what we’ve seen in these last two games, better than they’ve played in any of the four so far if we’re being honest. Champions raise their standards, raise their level of play to fit the moment and this moment is one in which the whole basketball world will be watching. The Warriors have been here before, as their fans incessantly remind anyone still looking at the tweets. The Kings, though scattered previously in different playoff situations, collectively have not, and worse yet, it shows. Wide open looks are missed, consistent players suddenly missing in the moment, All-Stars being schemed and reamed into being something less. Now with matching injuries for Fox and Sabonis, the Kings come into a game in which the winner goes on to win the series nearly 85% of the time, at less than their peak at a time where they need to exceed it to truly have a shot. Kings fans can spur a a run into a cascade, can turn a first quarter three into a shotgun blast to the chest for their opponents, but the Kings will have to make those shots, will have to stop a team that’s never truly been stopped when fully healthy. The Kings need more than their fans, they need to be themselves again.
So what now? We’re the proverbial dog who dared to chase the car, our jaws now firmly locked to the bumper and the pads of our paws heating up from the friction of momentum. What does victory look like for the mutts that weren’t supposed to be in this position? Is it enough that we grabbed hold of the thing we’ve so desperately wanted for so long, even if it winds up getting away from us in the end? Is it too much to ask for us to stop the car, to take a small piece as a token before it leaves us in the dust? If we get that far, what’s to stop us from tearing the whole damn thing to shreds – to hell with legacy, to the dump with what remains of the car we weren’t ever supposed to catch.
Prediction
3-2. Kevin Huerter comes alive and the game suddenly opens up for everybody. Sabonis gets a few extra whistles, Davion frustrates Curry a bit more than he’s supposed to, Keegan Murray keeps in lock step with Klay Thompson’s scoring. Fox’s finger bothers him more than we expect, but the other Kings step up in a commanding victory.
Kings: 127, Warriors: 115
Came up short in Game 4, but replied;
So now we’re at home and we’re tied.
Make this series linger
Despite Fox’s finger.
Show the world “LIGHT THE BEAM!” hasn’t died!
We’ll win this one on a finger roll by Fox.
Go Kings!
A middle finger roll
Really nice summary of what needs to happen if the Kings want to go up 3-2. The starters need to get their season averages or better, as Fox, understandably, may not. I wouldn’t have thought that Sacramento would go four straight games displaying a consistently clunky offensive attack, but those damned Warriors are pretty good.
This game is entirely winnable.
Give ’em the finger, Kings. Make it rain!

OBLIGATORY:
Damn Bobby. Save some ladies for the rest of us.
Fickle Finger of Fox Fate?
Be like Mike (Brown): Score a KO this game!
I hadn’t really felt one way or another about the Warriors prior to this series, cheered for them against Lebron. Now I want them to come crashing down because of us.
They remind me a lot of the old Dallas Cowboys dynasty when they named themselves “America’s Team”, the arrogance they had walking around as if they were gods or something destined to win the championship. Then Joe Montana knocks them out and after the game was heard telling them “Now you can go home and watch the Super Bowl with the rest of America!”
There is a famous portrait of Benjamin Franklin pointing to the sky drawing electricity.. Marty needs to figure out how to make it Fox and his injured finger with a purple beam!
HELP
So I’m going to the game tonight. I’m not sure what to wear. In game one I switched to my Vlade Divac jersey when we went down 10 points in the third and the rest is history. I wore my Vlade jersey to game two and we won; unfortunately it did not bring such luck in game 3 .I switched it up for game four. Game four I wore my black Kings polo And when we started falling behind at the end of the third, I switched to my signed Brad Miller jersey and we made the comeback but fell short. However, I was still wearing my Kings polo underneath the Brad Miller. I’m not sure what to wear to tonight‘s game. I’m superstitious dammit.
oh boy, …. can we get a roundtable discussion on this please.
Lucky underwear- and don’t change it if they win!
If it works, make it stick
well if I wore chonies that certainly would be my take.. I only wear them when wearing dress clothes or slacks for work.
Are you female? Honest question, not trolling, dudes usually don’t put this much thought into what they’re wearing.
nope just superstition.. I usually just wear a Kings Polo or my 1/4 zip to games and don’t gove any thoughts to it but temperature .. but during the playoffs I had to change things up when it was going bad. Like Jobu in major league we need to sacrifice something
A smile.
…
And no pants.
Well tht would get people laughing and would ruin my chances of ever coaching youth sports again. But I will be comfortable
The voice of experience
(some experience!)
You can never go wrong with a Brad Miller jersey, in my opinion. I follow the kings uni tracker on Twitter and usually just match what we wear for the game.
Feel the beam, let it’s light guide you to your decision
anything but duds gear.
More team oriented, less individual player.
A jersey over a polo? Um, no.
You asked….
Well I hate to sound too obvious………..pants……..be sure to wear pants. If you decide to forgo underwear definitely wear pants.
This is going to be a KFC victory!
(Finger lickin’ good, of course)
Keegan.
Fox.
Chimezie?
Kind of wish they’d give Metu a little more run. He on paper would match up well with the dubs 2nd unit when they get a little smaller and faster. His athleticism could make a difference if he makes the hustle plays
I 100% feel that whoever wins this game, wins the series. Let’s go Kings!
Oddly, I don’t. We could lose tonight and win the last two, as the Kings’ youth and defensive intensity overcome an old and tired Warriors team.
I kinda think whoever wins 4 games wins the series! 😛
Brilliant just brilliant……I want to be on your team
Tony Brothers in the house.

Admittedly, I don’t keep up on which ref is which. I know Brothers has been around for a very long time, but how has he screwed over the Kings?
I think it’s because he has been around for a long time that he has that rep. My guess is that Dubs fans will be equally unhappy to hear that Brothers is doing the game.
I’ve said it on several occasions: NBA officiating sucks, but it rarely, rarely has a direct impact on the outcome of the game.
generally agree, except one particular game 6 21 years ago
Didn’t he target Domas couple games? If that continues expect early foul trouble if attacking the rim.
This Dog is going to pick up the car and toss it in the bay.
After watching my football team lose because their QB got injured in the playoffs, it would suck out loud to immediately have to watch my basketball team lose because their PG got injured. Smfh
Well, as a person that does not like your football team at all, I can confidently say you have a hell of a strong team next year specially, if your quarterback can get healthy. The defense is strong you still have decent draft capital and a great coach unlike myself, it was a lifelong Rams fan, we have no draft capital we are decimated and I cannot foresee us sniffing the playoffs for a few years
I can’t wait to see the Baby Giraffe finger bandages take off like the Monk face bandage 😉

Got that feeling that Huerter and Barnes step up huge this game.
Thankfully, no Doris Burke tonight. I almost threw stuff at the TV last game because of the stupid stuff coming out of her mouth.
I feel like this game is going to have a lot of surprises. Here’s to hoping they’re good ones.
Lakers getting stomped by the Grizz. Some semblance of normal.
