Kings win again, leaving only one more game to lose

Yes, they won again.

Update: 9:45 p.m.

The Sacramento Kings defeated the Golden State Warriors Friday 124-118.

Devin Carter lead the Sacramento with 29 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists in 29 minutes (pretty good!). Maxime Raynaud finished with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (nice!). Nique Clifford had 20 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (nice, nice). Daeqwon Plowden had 20 points and 9 rebounds in 37 minutes (ok!).

The Wizards, Pacers, and Nets all lost (bad!). The Jazz did win (good!). Utah dropped 147 points on the Grizzlies.

The lottery is nearly here. The Kings have one more chance to lose on Sunday against the Blazers.

From Earlier Preview

The Sacramento Kings return home tonight to face the Golden State Warriors, again, just days after Draymond Green (falsely) called the organization out for tanking. The viral nature of Draymond’s postgame comments are partly responsible for sparking a league investigation into the Kings’ tanking efforts, and placed Sacramento in a ton of embarrassing headlines about the whole ordeal. Should make for an interesting contest tonight!

Who: Sacramento Kings (21-59) vs. Golden State Warriors (37-43)
Where: Golden 1 Center, Sacramento, CA
When: 7:00 PM PT / 10:00 PM ET
Watch: NBCSCA / League Pass

Akis covered this entire ordeal in more depth here, but as it relates to this game, It’ll be interesting to see how the Kings play it. Doug Christie hates tanking. He hates the idea of it. He hates being called out for it. Well, Draymond not only accused Christie of tanking, but also caused a large segment of the NBA mediasphere to blast Christie for his late game error. The Kings are once again an NBA laughing stock, but for the first time, Christie is at the center of it all. Doug is competitive. He’s going to want payback. He’s going to try to beat the Warriors, if that’s even possible with this broken down roster.

To make matters more fascinating, the Utah Jazz are playing in a tank-off with the Memphis Grizzlies tonight. Both teams need to lose. Whoever wins will directly hurt their draft position. A Utah win would be huge for the Kings, and nearly lock Sacramento into 4th. But will Christie’s pride get in the way of what’s best for the Kings organization?

Sad but true: this might be the most important and most interesting game of the entire season for the Kings. And of course it’s against the Warriors.

Prediction: Kings 114, Warriors 109.

Oh look a WWE “superstar” from Sacramento is attending the game. She has a custom WWE belt with the Kings logo. I’m so excited I might just turn the TV off now. Does she play small forward?

Doug “learned a valuable lesson” by asking his team to foul at the wrong time. JFC Mo Regan is soooo fired up.

This pregame show is too much. The Kings aren’t tanking. Look at how they played during the last 17 games! They have found a way to win! F off seriously!

Doesn’t matter to me, I would just like to see him laid out. So tired of him and his control of the media.

Devin was never supposed to get minuets. He was getting DNP/CD for most of the first half of the season. He’s only getting minutes now because every guard ahead of him was either traded or is hurt.

I recall a Amick being asked about Carter early on in the season and he basically said it without outright saying it, that Carter was Monte’s guy and Perry wanted his stamp on the roster. That’s why we got Dennis and Russ.

And then Perry’s “big free agent signing” Dennis was then traded not even a season in.

And then Perry’s “big free agent signing” Dennis was then traded not even a season in.

In a salary dump that added salary, sent out the Kings best non-draft trade chip, and capped the Kings out for two full years. Perry lucked into Max in the draft. Everything else he’s done so far has been a disaster.

McNair’s biggest sin was doing nothing. Perry is speedrunning making the team and organization worse. We know who is behind all of this anyway.

So dumb to not give someone on the roster a fair shot because he isn’t your guy, chalk it up to more piss poor asset management

Called it on the other thread and won $50 over it. Knew Doug would win another game before the season ended. We can’t have good things. Same thing happened last season.

$50 is not a good thing?
You can buy a gallon of gass and a dozen eggs with it, right?
Right?

Or some cheap videogame. But hey, it’s something! I should have bet more than the $10 originally, but I’m not really a gambler. The odds were pretty crazy, like +400 odds for the Kings to win.

The Kings are the definition of aimlessness. Every other organization employs a strategy to get better while the Kings simply do stuff and cross their fingers. Beating the Warriors with all the young guys tonight is fine. It happens. But losing five spots in the lottery in this draft, after this season, is simply malpractice. Or it would be anywhere else. I really wish the NBA employed relegation so the Kings could at least compete with organization more their speed like those in G-League.

Jones calling his last game for ESPN on Sunday. Unfortuanely, he’ll still be calling Kangz’ games next season.
Between him and Kayte, we’ll continue to have an insufferable duo calling unwatchable games.
King’s fans can’t win.

Kings land 7th pick.
Kings make few changes next year, go 33-49.
Kings land 11th-12th pick in what currently projects to be a weak draft, while the organization extolls the virtues of a double digit win improvement.
LaVine plays out his contract, and the two – three players that the Kings sign with the cap space are all signed over market value.
Kings hire Mark Jackson as new HC.

Was it just 2 years ago in the play-in that Davion and Keon put the clamps on Klay and he scored 0 pts in 31 minutes? None of those players, except for Keegan and Sabo are left. I am still left wondering if Fox hadn’t injured his finger in 23 or if Monk/Huerter were available against NO in 24, would we be singing a different tune. *le sigh*
