Finally, let’s gp Kings!
LETS GO KINGS!!!
Draper: “It’s been 192 days, i feel like I’ve been in jail crossing them off.”
I must’ve just suffered a head wound, because I just saw Ron Artest and Barry Bonds ringing a cow bell the size of a Yugo.
You might want to get that checked
Am so curious to see how this team plays together during the real season. Can’t wait. GO KINGS!!!
Too bad we don’t do caption contests…
Who’s hand is that?
“Cough.”
Hey all! Let’s do this!
Anyone getting the Kings feed on StreamEast? I can only find the Portland feed.
(((((thanks for that)))))))
Interesting first minutes. Bit jittery but the mentalities there. Need more at the rim penetration offensively. Fox should look a bit more for Domas DHO’s.
I’m already sick of Katie and Kyal calling Fox Foxie
Portland crew ain’t too bad
Lazy 5 out
rushing too much on defense, need to chill
good to see the effort tho
Jitters. They’ll settle down.
This is why u put 0 stock into preseason
Not a good start for KZ
Sabonis is kinda trash ????
This ain’t no pre season.
preseason timeouts are out of the question right? cause they need them man
Allowing 30+ per quarter is not good defense right?
Neither is 9 personal fouls.
At least 10 pts off bad, sloppy turnovers. Clean that up, settle down, and they’ll be okay.
Hopefully the 3rd quarter blues don’t come.
Terrible challenge this early
Kings down by eight in the first quarter.
Overreaction Central: “Better luck next season.”
Well, that quarter sucked.
Still commit stupid fouls, still can’t rebound, still challenge calls that we lose 90% of the time… no way this team cracks 40 wins
I really want to see Richaun have a good season……at least he’s traded.
Yikes! Looking at the box score after the first quarter, they’re not playing like they did during the preseason. Just jitters during the first game, or Kangz?
Jitters. Every 3 is short. Tension – short-arming the ball. Careless turnovers. I see a team pressing too hard. If they can keep it in the single digits going into the half, they’ll settle down.
Davion on the floor with Nurk only to have Monk lose the damn ball
Buddy 2.0
Have a terrible feeling swapping him for Divincenzo was a brutal unforced error
You may be right purely from a talent standpoint. But DD didn’t want to come off the bench, and he sure wasn’t going beat out Huerter to start. Makes me think McNair had the Huerter deal in his back pocket when he declined DD’s option.
I wasn’t impressed in the slightest with Divincezo’s game last year. I can’t see how we’ll miss him.
Based on his time in Milwaukee, I can understand what some people saw in him. He was coming back last year from a serious ankle injury, and the rust he showed was pretty clear to see. Hard to know for sure what he would have been here. Will be interested to see what he does in GS this year.
(Edited to add: damn iPad keyboard)
Good D by Fox at the rim
They were running such nice offensive sets in preseason, now it’s back to 1 on 1
Ugh. I can deal with opening night jitters, poor shooting. No problem. But the continued defensive lapses are driving me nuts. Old habits die hard.
I’d blame Greg, but really, it’s the Kings we’re talking about.
lyles is 0/3 and fox 3/4
nice? i guess
Domas
Huerter will be one of the best players on this team by seasons end
Mike Brown is trying to build another Draymond out of KZ. Don’t think that’s going to happen. But he might have another Klay, in Huerter, by season’s end.
Davion got pissed and changed the game
dame is having his off night
Huerter can not guard Grant
Nice
There we go. Get to the paint, be aggressive, and good things happen
Kings have been putrid for all but about 4 minutes of this half…
…and they’re leading.
That bodes well.
Foxie feeling the trey
Fox decides to pass the ball and penetrate to force the other team to try and they get points. Imagine that?
WTF is the Foxie thing?
I can’t stand it
Did they both agree to this stupid banter before the season?
I think it comes naturally. Like a hurricane.
Wow, Mitchell, Fox, Davis, Huerter, Sabonis – that’s a small lineup. Is Huerter your 4 in that lineup?
He surprisingly is and it is working.
I think TD is.
TD looks so conditioned. holy shit he’s everywhere
He looks like he’s playing just slightly more under control right now than prior years, which he really needed. The eyeball scout always thought he was trying to play the game in a gear he didn’t quite have. Slow down half a step, and suddenly the game comes to you.
Will they play in the third?
There’s a quarter called the Third
Which most Kings fans always dread
If it happens again
And the Kings trail by ten
Bitch on this site’s next thread
Kings basketball is good!
Sabonis with just two rebounds
Missed you guys
Good?
the halftime act was some funny ass shit. My goodness.
Nothing good I can say about that. Embarrassing
some sort of mush-mouth karaoke
We changed the game through defense. Mike Brown, you made me a believer. Go Kings!
Second quarter box score looks much better! Just do that every quarter, for the rest of the year.
Good lord. If Fox can shoot anything remotely like this, to go with Huerter’s shooting, the Kings may not need a huge front court presence out of Barnes/Murray/Sabonis.
But this is also showing some of what we were hoping for. Murray is out. Barnes is invisible. Sabonis is a non-factor with Nurkic in the lineup. But Fox/Herter/Davis are carrying the load tonight. They aren’t going to shoot like this every night though, and it’s on those nights that the front court will step up and carry the team.
82 games is a long season. You have to be able to win in multiple ways. The Kings haven’t been able to do that in a long, long time. But again, what I’m seeing tonight bodes well.
This is who Fox has to be. Adequate defense. Enough shooting to keep defenses from sagging off him, allowing him to cut and drive, and enough ball movement to avoid ISO situations (it doesn’t have to be 10 assists a night). All of that is going to combine to allow him to completely take over games for stretches…like we’re seeing tonight.
Been a long time since I felt like the Kings “stole” a player in a trade. But Huerter is sure looking like one of those tonight. Atlanta seriously had no room for this guy?!?
Sabonis is really out of sync tonight
Sabonis really was trash tonight. It felt like he was too small to bang inside and create space for a shot, and too big to move around those guys. No handles.
But Huerter was clutch, the three pointer and then steal and layup in the 3rd was awesome.
APB on Barnes please
A lot of missed calls going against the Kings.
Yup, was just about to post that. Some serious blown calls.
What’s new? ????
Kings look like a real NBA team for the first time in a long time, executing on both ends, playing the way the game is played now. A ways to go talent wise, but you can already see Brown’s impact as a coach. Team will be fun to watch this year.
Simons has Damian Lilliard mannerisms now
PDX were very wise to cash out on McCollum with Simons waiting in the wings.
He acts like dame now, looks at his expressions and the way he walks
Sabonis really needs to find some semblance of rhythm i the 4th. They’re gong to need him.
Lost 3rd quarter. They not making the playoffs or playin struggling with Portland at home.
Opening night games always have weird vibes. Wouldn’t read too much into this one, regardless of which way it goes.
LOL that’s not how it works
God damn how many calls have the Blazer gotten for just falling down?
Fuck, Simons is looking legit.
Ball’s not moving. That needs to change…stat.
Fox and Huerter are just unreal tongiht.
That cowbell cam needs to go. Players look so awkward and confused, haha
Fox with 30 and it doesn’t feel like he’s forced anything all night.
Spoke too soon
LOL…I jinxed it. Heat check?
TD!!! ????????????????
So much for my comment about him playing more in control…lol.
Sabonis shedded a little too much weight he can’t back anyone down
Taunting? What the actual fuck NBA?
Lol this officiating is ass. Calls are so biased in favor of the Blazers throughout the game.
When Lillard drove, tried to pivot, and slipped in the last minute, did they call a kick on Sabonis? His leg was already moving in that direction, totally unintentional right? Such a bad call. Would have lead to a steal
On such a mild flex. What a joke
Very mild indeed.
Ugh. Collapse in the final minutes
Aided by refs wearing red and black.
Same Zangzs
Sabonis had a very ugly game tonight
The whole frontcourt has been basically invisible tonight. It’s actually a miracle the Kings are even in this one.
Murray should help. The fact that he is their best option there as a rookie is telling
Holmes was getting worked by Winslow.
I rarely complain about officiating but it has not been very consistent or really evenly called in my opinion…
Right? One bad call or two and you think it’s over but it just continued on.
So is the NBA going to call a T on every player who dunks on another player then looks at them?
Different season…..same result.KANGZ played better but they should have had this one.
This team is a lot better. They got shafted by the refs.
Kayte trying to spin some positives about tonight. I’m not buying it.
I am.
losing all that weight was kinda counterproductive for sabonis. He lives with his back to the basket he’s just gonna have trouble backing people down now
Fire Mike Brown
It is only the start of the regular season, BUT …
losing at home to an ostensibly tanking team is not ideal.
Thank God that we can shift blame to the refs.
The Blazers are trying to tank? Someone should tell Dame.
FO’s tank, not players.
But I’ll put it like this; a team that most agree didn’t do anything to improve this off-season against a team that heavily improved this season.
it takes more than summer league and some preseason games to change the culture of a team. This was always going to be a process but the question is how much time it will take.
FO’s trying to tank wouldn’t pick up Jerami Grant and Josh Hart to pair with Dame, Nurkic and Simmons. I think they’ll be right along with us pushing for the playoffs or play ins. They’ve never been a team to tank. That’s part of their problem. They’re always reasonably good, but not good enough to legitimately challenge for a title, and not bad enough to get great franchise altering draft picks.
I saw this game as a bellweather of the changing of the guard between these two teams. Kings need to basically take Portland’s spot in the West. Trailblazers aren’t going to make it easy.
When Sabonis made the smart passes (like we saw him do often last year), they worked. When he tried to Magic Johnson trick pass it, the result was…not good.
Murray should take the bulk of Lyles minutes. Monk and Mitchell both looked lost offensively.
Bright side: 81-1 is still well within reach.
Kings didn’t execute in crunch time, but the refs were absolutely horrible. Early in the 4th it’s a block against Harrison, but same play at the end is a charge on Fox. Just one example. Good fight though. Overall liked what I saw.
Yeah, that really annoyed me.
Looking at the replays, both calls were correct, block on HB, charge on DF. Fox forced it. The T was wrong though
So much for the emphasis on defense…
did we go an entire thread without saying Davion looks like a total bust of a pick and will be lucky to get to average backup?
This is what you got from the game?
It’s overreaction time ????
Yeah, he really didn’t break anyone down off the dribble. He’s going to have to drive and make defenses collapse to create opportunities for teammates. I didn’t see that tonight
The Blazer took 33 free throws. Kings 19.
We’re back in the L column. Hello darkness my old friend…
That was terrible officiating. My true opinion of the officiating I’m sure would violate terms of service on this site and result in a ban so I’ll just go with. It was horrible officiating
Damn, that was entertaining and maddening at the same time. Portland 14 more free throws. Thirty seconds with three shitty calls with about a minute to go. TD technical? WTF? Lillard falls down, another foul. Doesn’t help when you score 2 points over a 4:30 period in the last 5 minutes.
Things I liked:
Huerter- He impresses me more each time I watch him play. He’s got such a smooth jumper. And he’s got a great handle on the ball.
Fox taking his shots attacking rather than spot up jumpers. And great things happen when he attacks the rim.
TD trying to carve out an important role on this team. I would love to see him step up.
KZ, and Davion Defense.
Things I liked, not so much:
I absolutely hated that TD Tech. That was mild. Totally stopped the momentum on such an awesome play.
KZ, and Davion Offense. Starters can’t have zero points. Can’t harp on Davion too much, his shots just weren’t falling. Did his thing hounding the ball. Not one of his best games though.
Sabonis shot selection. Dude just needs to make his move and go up with it. He outfakes himself half the time.
Monk. Was super excited to get him but I’m worried he looks for his shot too much.
Fox’s 8 TO’s…
Barnes.
