Ugh Holiday and Metu in starting lineup? Yuck.
Like it better than Hield and Bagley.
Will never miss Buddy………ever
I have never seen Holiday play…seems like a good 3pt shooter and from the Kings Pulse podcast, seems to have guarded the Pacers opponents better offensive players regardless of position? Sounds like a solid potential 2 way player, guess I’ll find out tonight!
He’s a bigger watered down version of Jrue.
Better 3pt shooter than Buddy.
Wannabe all star Fox paired with a legitimate all star now.
Hopefully Fox owns his role and does something.
You are a hopeful fella
It’s the only way to Kangz fan.
Damn, the new guys got here quick! I wasn’t expecting them to play for a couple games
Yeah I thought no way they playing tonight.
Desperation for the play in. Every second of mediocrity counts.
I was gonna say, probably a condition of the trade via Vivek
what’s going on in here?
Wonder if Bagley notices that the new guy only jumps one time?
Honestly even from last night’s game when I don’t have to see another Buddy ball was already worth it. Though I am still hurting from losing Tyrese
KAT’S setting a lot of moving screens.
Refs are garbage right now.
Barnes, your next!
Get rdy to pack your bags!
IMO – I don’t see HB getting traded this season
Only for a major upgrade IMO. Like the trade I put in last night’s recap thread:
HB, Holmes and Bagley plus a protected 1st (top 5 protected in ’22 and ’23, unprotected in ’24) for John Collins and Bogdan Bogdanovich.
That’s swinging for the fences, but I love it personally.
Meant to add that I think Richaun should be the one packing his bags
Definitely won’t be traded this season
I love Domantas Sabonis. I just wanted to make that clear. I didn’t watch the guy a ton in Indy mainly due to circumstances, but every time I do, I came away impressed.
I’m going to love Domas even if he struggles going right, and is a plodder who doesn’t block many shots.
I’m already living for his passing. I hope we can trade for some defense tomorrow.
I’d be okay with tonight, too!
Same, shoulda said *by tomorrow’s deadline haha
WE WANT DEFENSE! WE DON’T WATCH A BELLY ITCHER, WE WANT A PITCHER.
Shit, nevermind. 🙂
I agree with you
Tyrese sitting in front of the cameras explaining the Kangz stupidity after games……
I hope they force Fox to own that now.
Fox, Barnes and Holmes are the only assets we have to give for defense now.
Barnes and Holmes both play defense already…..
Big Rich looked pissed on the bench.
That’s 5 dunks in one quarter for metu
Metu with something to prove tonight- we got a power forward to pair with Sabonis, says Chimezie.
If only he was good.
Sabonis enters the game and gets an assist 3 seconds later.
You can feel how much better the ball movement and offensive flow is when he’s on the floor.
Give me a fucking break De’Aaron. If you’re NOT going to pass Domas for a layup, finish that goddamn thing.
Fox is no longer the man…needs to learn how to play as the second or third option.
I think of Domas and Swipa as a 1A/1B option not just out of necessity, but because it maximizes both of them.
And they need each other.
Hopefully it works out that way.
Daman Sabonis getting his new people involved.
You know, Domas has work to do if he’s that short on a 3 ball. Maybe he’s a corner 3 only type of 3 pt shooter maybe?
My lord, what an active play by Domas!!!!!!
If u don’t like that, u don’t like kings basketball.
side note. I miss Jerry calling games
Trying so hard to fight off short term bias already. I love the ball movement.
I like all three of the new guys..
It’s a rare, weird, feeling watching young all-star playing for the Kings.
26 to 16 paint points advantage Sac. FWIW.
Mark Jones, OKC drafted Domas. That was his rookie season. I swear, BB-Ref says this, too. On my mama.
I think, if we’re being technical, Orlando drafted him. Obviously, the decision was made by OKC, but the Magic actually drafted him.
Yeah I know he was traded for Ibaka, but he never actually suited up for Orlando. I don’t really consider him having been on 4 teams for that reason.
If Fox starts hitting that 3, the Kings will be a much, much better team.
I stoped listening to that three years ago. It aint happening.
Hope springs eternal. I’m a Sacramento Kings fan. What else do I have to do? 🙂
Fair enough. Blind optimism kept me coming to Arco for years lol.
Maybe Bagley will turn out to be a rim running big….
For some team, maybe.
I said if, I didn’t say anything about his hitting these 3’s consistently. I was talking about that step-back 3 specifically. That’s where he’s not done well at all.
Excellent give n go between De’Aaron and Justin.
I see a lot of chemistry.
Sabonis has good hands.
Its funny you say this because I’m kinda disappointed he dropped that pass from Mezie. Glad he still got the bucket though.
Holmes probably doesn’t keep it and Len definitely doesn’t.
Then that catch on the PnR was a perfect example of his great hands. I’m just mad when he doesn’t catch everything.
Sabonis pushing the fast break off a rebound and finding a speedy Fox……..just wow.
Remember Joe Klein…hands of stone. Sabonis has spider man hands.
This is what Domantas Sabonis does. We’ve seen pretty much his entire game so far. I’m not a guy who watched him a ton, but I think we’ve seen the full gamut of him so far.
Then I like it.
Now comes the question, can Sabonis help them break the 3Q curse.
Wow. I was not expecting that much fun in the first half with these new guys. I know they are free flowing and just letting things come to them, but oh my, they are having fun.
I know the other shoe will drop at some point, but I’m determined to enjoy the good times while they last. 🙂
That was a fun half of basketball. Sharing is caring. Keep moving the ball and bodies the next 2 halfs and there maybe a dance thread. Either way I’m donating to a good cause tonight.
I donated before the game. Great cause.
On the wing, can we find much better than HB?
HB is our 3 point specialist now… he needs to shoot more.
Sabonis has 10, 6 and 5…. A triple double tonight would be interesting.
Mezie passed up a 3! I cannot unsee it!
Kevin McHale wants you to give him a dollar for putting him in the machine, Domas. That was just brutal and unfair, man.
Oh man, this guy is tough..
Lawd. How do you not pick up D’Angelo Russell there? I mean, seriously?
Can we put Davion on Russell?
Wonder if that’s why Gentry called time. Would make sense.
What a shock, but suddenly the free flowing fun offense disappears with Domas. I’m shocked, shocked I tell you.
Lawd Mezie. What’s wrong with you? Grab those damn boards son!
Hope Sabonis can finish, that was a bad hit to the face/eye.
I. Love. Davion. Mitchell.
If we could get this game from Mitchell every night, I’d be over the moon.
52 to 40 paint points advantage Sac.
Davion always seems to make the right decision.
I think Gentry is right to challenge this even if he loses it (can’t imagine why he would, Reid’s foot is clearly on the restricted circle line). Show you got your new guy’s back.
Good challenge… these refs are garbage and this proves it.
Bully ball Domas!
Love it, haven’t had that since Boogie.
DAVION!!!! FOR!!!! TREE!!!!!!!
Think we have to have him start instead of Holiday.
I guess we got the G league refs tonight.
How the hell she missed that foul is beyond me, Fox was mugged on that shot.
She hates fat Fox? LOL.
What a push to the hoop by Davion after a steal!!!! I love this kid.
DM dunk!
Throw it down kid
Hear that crowd?
Amazing crowd
They’ve earned it.
Really missed the crowd
Even when Domas misses the board, he forces opponents to miss them, too. Beautiful tip Domas!!!!
Wolves are cheating so hard. lol.
What you saw between Domas and Davion is two high IQ basketball players that ended with a Barnes 3. Beautiful stuff.
God, I’m loving this
DO NOT TRADE BARNES!!
Swipa!
I think Swipa just sealed the game with that steal of Ant Edwards.
Swipa!
Pretty clear to see what this team could be with one more SG with 3pt range, and another 3 & D front court player / stretch 4 type.
I like Holiday as that SG if you aren’t starting Mitchell. Holmes and Bagley (perhaps the Kings keep Barnes) for John Collins along with a top 5 protected pick?
But I think Mitchell’s 3pt ability will improve, too. Lamb might surprise us, too. And there’s always Terence Davis depending how you feel about him next year.
Such bad timing on Davis’s injury. This would have been the perfect window for him to get consistent minutes at the 2, and finally see what we have there. Considering the mix of Fox/Mitchell’s skillset in the backcourt, I really want my third guy shooting daggers from the outside. (i.e., Buddy, but with a shred of BBIQ and an actual understanding of who/what he is)
Agree that Holiday may be able to fill that role through the end of the season, but I’d think you’d want to look elsewhere this summer for a more permanent solution.
I’m really not convinced he’s that guy. He’s a microwave off the bench but he’s too inconsistent. When he’s on, he’s on. When he isn’t, woof.
That’s been my perception too, but in fairness, his minutes distribution has been all over the place during his time in Sac. For some guys, consistent minutes turn into consistent production.
Likely? Probably not? Possible? That’s what it would have been great to find out.
Agree with you both. The timing of the injury is unfortunate, but unfortunately that’s the way these things go sometimes.
Terrence can fill the role that Hield has had in the last two months, and more, with his defense and his willingness to drive to the hoop and pick up points on the free throw line. I hope he gets a chance for stable rotational minutes to see what he can do, as you three fellows noted.
One thing about the Hali trade that got overlooked is that Fox is the primary handler again and he’s pretty damn good at that. I think we forgot while he was trying to play combo guard.
Barnes with the ‘quiet’ 30 point game
Only quiet if you aren’t watching the game.
Obviously I noticed him scoring a lot, he’s just not flashy like Fox or Sabonis. He was automatic from 3, getting open off cuts and making free throws- that’s gonna get you up there but it just crept up to 30, for me at least.
I’m happy with him and I want him to stay, and hopefully find consistency with that 3pt shot; with De’Aaron’s speed and Domas’ playmaking and gravity on the offensive end I’m hopeful.
Excellent points all!
Another thing that’s clear is, in their current configuration, Barnes HAS to shoot 8+ three’s a night. Otherwise, teams will very quickly realize that they can collapse down low and cut off Sabonis in the post, and Fox in the lane.
Yes he is our shooter… he shouldn’t have to try and collapse the defense anymore let others do it.
Lamb’s length has been much needed
The team looked good.
Davion and Fox can play together. He’s so damn good on defense it doesn’t matter if he doesn’t have the ball on offense. They closed that one out nicely.
This was fun… Way better look than I could have hoped for.
Gotta love that scoreboard
Win now
I’ll miss Hali, but that was a great game. Looking forward to seeing what is possible for this team. A good friend texted me that he had a SaBoner! Go Kings!
Apparently this could be contagious.
Kings out rebounded the Wolves by 17 tonight. 72 points in the paint.
wow. this feels like a new team. new identity.
I haven’t enjoyed a Kings win like this in a long time. Not once did I think about a tank job, nor did I hear anybody talk about tanking tonight.
Wish Haliburton all the best, but the team was a train wreck. Something had to move and unfortunately it was him. Now we have a friggin anchor in the paint – a Jokic-esque player that can collapse defenses and allow our guys to have a lot of open shots. This team looks MUCH better. If Haliburton was the cost to make this team great, so be it.
