I thought JTA was waived
Must have been re-signed on a 10-day—that was the plan.
Down 7 early to the worst team in history without their best player. Terrific!
Right? Another lackluster start by the Kings.
I figured we’d come out of the gates playing somewhat flat and listless, but they really turned it up a notch to VERY flat and listless
Would love to have Bojan in a Kings uniform
When did the Kings become so low IQ?
Davion time
Brown needs to sit the starters tonight. Pull ’em dude, pull ’em. Send a message.
I’d say bench them for the next game too. Enough of this “we love each other” kumbaya crap.
Lol, the Pistons are running us out of the gym. Maybe this loss will wake these clowns up.
This is quickly becoming an unlikeable team.
There’s some kind of systemic issue with this team. Why would this loss be the one that wakes them up?
I’m wondering if a trade of one of Fox, Sabonis, or Murray would actually bring about the needed attitude adjustment.
“I’m wondering if they’d have been able to crucify Jesus if he’d had an AR-15.”
Actually said by a US Congressman.
You don’t improve attitudes by getting rid of your best players.
Depends on who comes back.
Two concepts you attempt to correlate but not quite.
the whippings will continue until morale improves
Apart from Domas this is vintage Kangz. Gotta put Davion out there.
Unfortunately, that would only widen the lead.
Oh sure, Pistons just put up 47 points in the 1st quarter without breaking a sweat.
Nobody breaks a sweat against Davion. Especially on defense.
Par for the course tonight. Down 15 in the 1st.
Is true. When was the last time they got off to a good start?
Offensively bad
Lazy passes, lazy closeouts. I had hope Fox could rest today
Technically he is. Just on the court, rather than the bench.
Open 3 after open 3.
Too many guys that are just too passive on offense. Yes, Keegan I’m looking at you.
Domas is just always good. Even when he’s not good, he’s still pretty good.
Kayte is going to absolutely drive us nuts tonight.
Just another Tuesday
The Kellyanne Conway of Kings broadcasting. Up is down. Left is right. Bad is good.
Same non stop talking every game and says little of value !
What the fans don’t understand, Tuesday games are 3x the difficulty on the road on the East Coast in January.
This squad has become a joke on both sides of the ball over the past few weeks.
That many points to Detroit. I now thing my concerns about this team are warranted-100. Alarm bells
Is this the continuity lineup?
I’ve seen worse.
Defense aside, it remains mystifying how well teams shoot the three against the Kings. Even on wide open shots, guys will miss some threes. Just not against us.
I’d say that fact that they are wide open is the reason they are hitting their shots.
Kings let opposing teams get hot and it starts to drop.
Fox ankle has to be bothering him. I noticed him about six games back, limping more and looking like he was moving slow almost sick. And he’s been bricking the last six or seven games. Suddenly can’t shoot.
And without that version of fox this office is a joke. This team is in a weird place.
JTA over Kessler is an odd move to me. Kessler must be really bad, apparently.
I kinda wonder whether Coach Brown is sending a message to Monte with all the lineup shifting.
Just got here from work. Already fucking embarrassing!
Detroit is on pace for 200. Kings defense is broken.
Malik just can’t keep a player in front of him.
Peace out yall.
It’s true. Monk has been a matador this season.
Like the rest of the team.
Last year, I felt like I got my money’s worth from my League Pass subscription. This year, not so much.
Welp, we’re officially back to being the Kangz again. If Fox forgot how to play basketball we might as well pack it up and go home because this team has no shot if he’s playing this way. Just embarrassing.
Don’t worry, he’ll score 25 in the second half and we’ll only lose by 15.
I didn’t think I’d be seeing the 1980s Kings this season.
Ausar Thompson absolutely swallowed Fox on that last offensive possession. Wow. Don’t see nearly anybody doing that, let alone a rookie.
Those twins are legit.
This team is a f*cking embarassment
Think there are some trust issues with this team.
Two things seem apparent: 1) If we aren’t hitting threes, we have no other offensive plan, and get blown off the floor 2) yelling at a group of subpar defensive players hasn’t made them into a cohesive defense.
“coach of the year”….lol
He was great last year! But this season’s recipe isn’t working as planned. Thank god we banked some wins.
50 in the 1st to Detroit?!! Is that even possible. You have to try to not defend to do this.
Trade deadline gonna have to bring at least 2 defenders but I don’t even know if that’s enough.
Main cogs/starting lineup filled with players who can’t defend
I’ve told you all for 6 years that motor is innate (Fox)
Motivation of the supermax seeping off…
I think Fox retweaked ankle. He’s def not moving well
So he can’t pass the ball because he tweaked an ankle?
Ha. He could still pass, but. He’s so used to getting bye guys and making plays. He’s gotta get healthy or the kings are fucked. Or at least as healthy as he was two weeks ago.
Fox the record, I’ve complained about this as well.
IMPAAAAAACT
This team is so soft. They think they accomplished something big by finally getting to the playoffs last year after a 17 year drought. No hunger to improve or be better than last years team? Lack of defensive effort is mind boggling. Mike Brown has already lost this locker room. It’s time to make a trade. Tired of watching this BS
New defense is awesome, held the Pistons to under 50 in the first quarter, but you won’t hear the mainstream media talk about it, it’s all Lakers this, Celtics that, smdh
Spazzy close-out by JTA there
This crap never occurred when Davion was in the rotation.
Houston? He played against the Pelicans too. If he was the answer, he would be getting 30 minutes a night.
Ahh, yes. The guy with the worst net rating on the team is the answer. SMH.
JTA is a spaz
JTA can go ahead be let go of the 10 day contract.
Dear lord, enough with the “teams aren’t taking the Kings for granted”, Kayte. They’re absolutely coming into games knowing they can feast against this team.
I have seen enough of JTA thank you
Brown totally put JTA just to thug up the game
Is it working?
No. It didn’t work with Okpala last year either, except during preseason when everyone had 8 fouls to give and opponents were like “whatever, it’s preseason.”
LOL
What does a man gotta do to see some Colby Jones outside of garbage time?
Is our ATL pick top-14 protected?
Yup
Thank god.
It’s actually really important we lose the pick this year. This the worst draft in ages and it hamstrings our flexibility for years to come because of the protections.
I don’t really put to much into best draft, worst draft. Much more often than not it doesn’t come to fruition.
Trade deadline is coming up. Blow it up. Everyone is on the table.
We traded the wrong PG.
we traded the PG that had value
My Bojan prediction is gonna hit!
Did Mike Brown somehow lose the locker room? Like what is this? Fox went from crushing everything to being almost useless in like a week. The rotations are all over the map and nobody other than Sabonis look like they even care. What the hell happened to this team?
Coach Brown, please, do not throw away this game on the JTA hill.
Nah, leave him out there. At least he has something to play for.
Kings got mad because Detroit was praised for its tanking prowess and are showing’em up. Bet those Pistons are gonna eat some humble pie when it comes to bragging about laying down
Why is Kayte talking about igniting the offense? It’s the defense, dummy!
Welp, this has become a normal thing for this team lately, and if these guys don’t get their acts together they are going to start a downward spiral in that loss column fast.
Kayte is criticizing the Kings. This team has finally broken her.
Haha.
I guess I’m back to touting our awesome, vibrant midtown / downtown. This city has a lot going for it, but a team that doesn’t piss me the fuck off is not one of them.
Even if by some chance the Kings win this game, there is still no excuse for this first half especially after the last game.
Well it’s the first game away from home and a trap game and and…
I’m hoping they don’t. They absolutely deserve to be dragged over the coals on every possible media outlet.
Yes, the biggest open secret in the game threads is that you don’t want the Kings to win, and that adds to the fun.
You took the under?
Alright Keegan. We see you!
Yes Keegan! Love it when he doesn’t stop and pass ball back out
More of that Keegan Murray
Pistons just reminded themselves that they’re the Pistons.
Pistons announcers suddenly sounding worried lol.
Why do we all keep pretending that Trey Lyles isn’t the best forward on the team?
Low bar to clear, to be fair.
Does Brown need injured Fox playing tonight? Let the dude rest
Would be nice to have Ivey’s production at SG, Kayte.
Wow, when did game day threads around here get so toxic?
Years ago.
I feel like last year it wasn’t like this. But every thread this year (just the gamethreads) has been… something. Winning or losing.
Okay. I felt like there was a lot of it here last year, too. Maybe heightened expectations have led to more complaints.
You have a point about the kind of toxic that will have threads full of complaints about the Kings’ first quarter tonight and virtually nothing about how well the Kings played in the second quarter to come back and take the lead before halftime.
After a while, the routine becomes funny. You can make a Bingo game out of it.
Right?? I see the same ebb and flow every time I lurk in one of these. It’s like one good year has drastically changed the tone. I think you’re right about the expectations being a factor.
So are you wanting people to be happy when they are getting blown out by 20+?
Is that what I said?
How would you like people to be fans of this team?
I think everyone should be allowed to whine endlessly without anyone else being allowed to notice it. It’s funnier that way.
Yeah, I messed it up. I should have just kept lurking.
Oh, that was tongue in cheek. Anybody who heckles deserves to be heckled. It’s all fair game.
I commented on that too, did I?
I didn’t reference or reply to any single person at all, talking about a vibe in the most generic way possible, and no less than three of y’all rushed to self-identify by jumping all the way up my ass. And then continued to cry a whole damn hour later, only pausing to be predictably quiet while the Kings were playing well!
I am clearly not this level of heated, so don’t let me get in the way of you getting big mad about… something.
It’s how they enjoy themselves. The Kings had been terrible for so long that some fans are “institutionalized,” in the Morgan Freeman Shawshank Redemption sense. Now that the Kings are undeniably good, they don’t know what to talk about. It’s all good.
It’s fan therapy, dude. As a paycheck-to-paycheck scrub I’m not gonna worship millionaires when they play like ass.
Define what “toxic” means to you?
Exactly, what do you mean by “toxic?” Why jump in just to criticize folks?
TOXIC Definition & Usage Examples | Dictionary.com
LOL, yeah, you’re definitely the guy to lecture me on this.
Did you see the first half of this game and the last few games? Have you followed the team this season?
Nah, man, I only started following the Kings when LeBron joined. Turn on the beacon!
By toxic you mean reporting how shitty the product is on the floor?
Reporting, huh
Lyles is a +13.
WTF Fox?
Kings with the lead. That was fast. This lineup is doing the job.
Good to see nobody helping up Domas. Nice job “team” …????
This fuggin team.
Starting lineup plus Lyles is way better than the starting lineup with Barnes.
I hope Barnes moves to the second unit so he can post up more.
Lyles has played his way to 30 minutes.
And he was questionable with that ankle.
Even more impressive, then.
He deserves it.
A tale of two quarters
Burks Spider Man
Shoutout to Domas, who saw nobody gave a shit to start the game and took it upon himself to drop 22/4/7 in the first half with 3 steals and a couple dunks that ignited the team.
We need Keegan to not be invisible 2nd half. Go Kings
part of the turnaround might have been changing the game from the Pistons perspective, from shooting practice to something not fun anymore.
HB was a compete no show.
complete
HB was
85% from the floor if you take out the three pointers.
I’m expecting at least 35 3-pt attempts then in the second half
Just jumping into the game.
Is Bagley hurt or saving his revenge for the second half?
Probably, who know with that guy.
I think they gave him a pretty good deal as well.
He owes Vlade at least half for setting the Bagley bar above garbage.
I thought he was hurt again.
I honestly would love to see him actually play to his potential.
I don’t think he has the will or desire anymore though.
Almost nine minutes without a field goal for the Pistons.
30 to 5 run continues.
But I was reliably informed that this team was a joke, unlikeable, the Kangziest Kangz since the 1980s, and Fox is overrated, and also Kayte is bad. Huh.
…okay, I’ll stop now. 🙂
The best is when Fox hits a few threes in a row and then someone pipes up about him having no assists lol.
Kayte is definitely bad, though.
She has never rooted for the Kings to lose, though.
34 to 5 and Keegan’s and-one can put it 35 to 5.
I like this Keegan Version
Big And-1 from Murray there in transition. Love seeing him take that one himself strong to the basket rather than kicking to Barnes for the corner 3.
10:42 of the Pistons going without a bucket until Bojan finally hit one.
The Kings have the best defense ever!
The Pistons commentating crew seemed impressed, but I doubt they’d go that far.
So I went to eat dinner and….we started kicking ass? Awesome!!
And just like that, Kings are up 15. Crazy game.
From no defense to solid defense in one quarter.
Is Killian Hayes a guy that can be had/a worthy reclamation project? He’s a pretty solid defender and can handle the ball and playmake. Pretty ideal off guard to pair with Fox/Monk
He is probably a worse shooter than Davion.
you think Loucks couldnt get him to 36%?
Has he with davion?
He’s got Fox and Sabonis shooting damn near 40%!
Looks like my decision to start drinking was a wise move.
you cannot stop Joe Harris. you can only hope to contain him.
Huerter constantly sags off the shooter he’s guarding on the 3 point line for no reason.
Barnes – 10.
Get HB out of there. He’s useless.
Harrison Barnes getting 14 minutes a game seems about right.
Pistons’ commentating crew on Burks taking a three with Len in his face.
“Do you think Burks cares?”
Uh, nobody on the Pistons cares anymore.
More poor end of quarter play by Fox.
The Kings are absolutely infuriating.
How toxic of you!
What’s the deal with the toxic comments?
Same two guys. 🙂
Yep. It’s “fan therapy.” We’re not supposed to talk about it during their therapy sessions, or else they’ll start complaining about their complaining, which is funny on a whole other level.
My “toxic” comments have been about the product in the court, which have all been facts. Pointing out bad play isn’t toxic. The team was downright embarrassing the 1st quarter, and it’s a trend this season.
Who called you, Hobby916, toxic?
Assumed victimhood is part of the routine.
My bad, thought you were responding to my comment
This will be an interesting 4th quarter. Need Keegan to keep being aggressive.
Here come the Kangz again…
WTF is wrong with Fox?
I think fatigue and injury. Be nice for him to initiate on nights when the shot just isn’t falling.
Why isn’t Fox actually trying to shoot, instead of just throwing balls near the rim.
He’s 7-16 and 3-6 from three.
He’s also taken some ball behind his head w/eyes closed shots.
With 5 TOs.
Turnovers don’t have anything to do with his shooting, which is what we’re talking about. Pretending that he isn’t hitting his shots when he is hitting his shots is just funny.
That’s not what I was doing, though. I was literally commenting on that bizarre “throw ball at backboard” thing he did.
Here’s what I don’t get and we see it over and over again. Fox isn’t in the game, he isn’t putting in effort, his shots look bad, he’s fumbling the ball -yet he just keeps doing the same thing over and over again.
It’s good despite two turnovers in a row from that Monk-Domas high screen, they went right back to it anyway for the Domas layup.
Fox is soft and the Pistons are about to out gut this team.
Pistons are not willing to accept they are worse than the KAngZ.
lol…
Ok MB, have Fox rest for Segababa
Lyles for Barnes, Monk for Fox: this has to be the best non-Fox lineup.
Keegan step-back three, nothing but net.
Ballgame.
As usual, it’s been fun.
if Keegan can consistently play this aggressively on offense, he will be an all-star one day.
Aggressive Keegan is good
Huerter is a +16 right now and has quietly been doing the little things. 5 asts, 5 rebs, 1blk, 1 stl. Still couldn’t hit water if he fell out of a boat, but one of his better performances recently.
Found a way to contribute when the shot wasn’t falling, good to see from him
47 in the 1st, 61 since then.
Nice recovery. It’s a W.
76 points in the paint for Sacramento.
One horrible quarter, three good quarters.
Take the 20ish point win, as expected, and move on to the next.
Why doesn’t the bench clearing include Sasha?
ALL the paint points tonight. Been saying it all season, when the 3 isn’t dropping they need to get to the paint.
I know Walton is gone, but hopefully they watch the tape.
And tonight the three was dropping anyway at 39.4%. Good offensive game tonight.
More balanced
Pistons’ commentating crew: They [the Kings after the first quarter] turned the screws on the Pistons defensively.
This is the first game that we haven’t bitched about the refs.
Fox basically made Killian Hayes disappear on offense. Hayes just couldn’t get by him, it was mesmerizing.
Hayes is so bad offensively.
This is your annual reminder that any NBA game that is within 1 point per remaining minute is still a relatively close contest and that drawing any conclusions about a team based on 12 random minutes is silly, even if those 12 minutes happen to be at the start of the game.
The conclusions were drawn after 5 consecutive quarters…this team has a habit of shitting the bed against inferior opponents, which is a new development. Last year they essentially beat just about everyone they were supposed to and stole a handful of upsets. Elevated expectations should not be unexpected.
