Any good reason why Barnes is starting? How about giving Metu a look.
I hear you…and I’m in the camp of, start him with Davion, Donte, Damion and Trey, but don’t necessarily play him heavy minutes like we typically do. I want those 4 listed above to get experience (obviously Donte already has it, but want the backcourt chemistry with Davion) playing alongside a legit NBA starter in actual game play.
Is it better for the young guys to get lots of minutes together and likely get blown out, or play in close games alongside NBA starting caliber talent?
I prefer that we end up with enough losses for the 5th best odds in the draft lottery, but at this point after all these years, what happens happens. We’ve jumped up, we’ve fallen, we’ve stayed at our odds. Anything can happen, and sure there’s the ‘better chance’- but we talk a lot about changing the culture of the org. Do we achieve that by sitting players who shouldn’t be sitting, talent wise?
Yeah, I’m ok with that, start Barnes but don’t give him heavy minutes. Ultimately I think we’d both like to give some of our younger guys the chance to gel together.
There’s no especially good reason to sit Barnes, but there’s no reason to play him more than 25-28 MPG any night going forward. Metu will play plenty down the stretch I suspect.
The Kings could still be showcasing Barnes, so I guess benching him wouldn’t be a good look also.
I doubt it. Harrison Barnes is what he is, and teams know what he is. That’s why he’s valuable.
That’s true, but would hate to see him get injured while he’s still valuable as a trade piece.
Major injury, of course. But if it’s a minor injury, it’ll just mean he gets shut down like De’Aaron Fox.
Davion with a nice move and finish against Tyrese. Gotta think he wants to prove himself against his old teammate. Could be an interesting matchup to watch.
Buddy reminding us on that first play why we don’t miss him
Davion really added some arc to his 3 point shot.
“Buddy needs structure offensively” is a really polite way of saying “The Kings have not had an offensive system since Joerger left.”
Back to the sixth spot, Kings playing too good..
Happy Birthday Mezie! 5/5 for 15 points
MEZIE 4 TREEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!
(I know I’m late.)
Alex Len caught a pass. I cannot unsee it!!!
Metu goin CRAAAZZZZY rn
If I weren’t in favor of tanking, I’d be getting real tired of watching Holiday play extended minutes
Obviously not the most important part of today’s news. But, the optimistic folks for next season believed a Holmes trade would net another key piece. Between 15% trade kicker, domestic violence allegations, injuries … his value is limited.
Holmes trade value has nothing to do with his trade kicker. He’s had a bad season, and the DV allegations do not help that. But he’s still very affordable as a 3rd big man. There might be teams that won’t take him, but there wasn’t much revealed about what happened. He stands accused and in the court of public opinion is guilty.
But this is not the first or last time this has happened with a NBA player. Every team will monitor the situation and act accordingly.
His contract going up 15% to 12.9 million in a trade after the draft … per se … impacts his value as opposed to the Kings keeping him at the current price.
Keep believing that if you wish. It really doesn’t impact it much at all. Teams are already aware of that as is.
The biggest question is can he focus on what he needs to do moving ahead. If he can’t, I’d agree his trade value is dramatically lowered.

I know what was written.
Just trying to help
Yep. Not mad atcha. 🙂
It’s all good…
Okay Trey, I see you with the slam and the (almost) save!
What fans don’t understand is that Kayte would rather litigate calls than do any or all other aspects of broadcasting
As she talks through all the action.
I’m of the opinion she’s not that big a fan of being an analyst. She seems to enjoy being in the studio more.
I find it odd that Mo Harkless, Josh Jackson and Neemius Queta have not played. Maybe next time in Orlando?
HB is a little out of control tonight..
This win is overtly the least desirable item at a white elephant exchange over the next 6 minutes. Pacers have turned to Lance and it’s working. Your move Kings.
I like that Davion. I like that very much.
Me too!
You took steps Mezie.
Donte just made Goga Bitadze mad!!! Ahahahaha. I love it!
Trey might bail us out tonight.
That was cold Davion.
For tankathon basketball, this has been a fun competitive game!
Donte??
I predict Davion’s WS/48 will go up quite a bit these last 9 games….
Still some bright spots tonight regardless.
That’s our Buddy
He owed us one, lol
This is so funny. Wins are fun in some ways. This is no different iMO.
Nice kickout by Barnes, didn’t force it.
Davion needs to be starting next year
Just a different player as a starter
I supported the pick, but he had me down at one point, but still the right choice absolutely
Totally agree!
OMG
We only win when it’s meaningless and hurts our draft odds. This is the most predictably bad team in the league lmao. At least Davion kicks ass.
Well that’s just f lovely
Well played Buddy Hield…well played.

Fun game from Davion and Chimezie (Happy Bday Mezie!!!). Better game than I realized from Donte (I was half watching at best).
Nothing wrong with a win or two down the stretch.
Actually there’s a lot wrong with it ????
And what’s wrong? Aren’t your players supposed to play to win?
not when there’s 8 games left in the season, 5 games out of the play-in and you play for the kings
Feels like a missed opportunity to me. I guess the Pacers are learning not to put Buddy in late.
Failure to think….I mean tank.
So typical. Kings will go.500 or better the next 8.
Fall to 8-9 In the draft.
You know that’s what will happen.
Team is so predictable.
Davion played great. But, he won’t start next year. Unless you move Fox to shooting guard. Davion is way to small to cover lengthy 2s that have a massive wing span on him.
Winning games like tonite doesn’t build culture.
Half of the Sac media makes this claim every damn year. Especially at the end of the season. When the team is clearly out of the play in.
Like the residue of these last 9’games will overlap into next season. It never does.
This team has had so little success developing players. Teams like Memphis, OKC, Spurs, Miami, Minny, etc have excellent drafts.
Have stellar training coaches, etc.
All the Sac media will talk about in the offseason.
The Kings played .500 ball without Sabonis/Fox in the last 10 games of the season.
This team is headed to 50 wins next year. lol
