Almost seems like he always wants to start off by shooting jumpers. I dunno. I think taking it to the rack to get his offense going would lead to open jumpers. Maybe that makes too much sense.
Feeling like it’s more chaos for the Kings than intentional effort. Feel like they’re caught be surprised on the opportunities that they create, which leads to some janky shots.
Unsurprisingly, Fox still not a very good PG. Makes sense that the Kings would build around him if they’re going for longest losing drought in sports history.

Headband Heurter has already become my fave player.
I don’t get it – LA is, objectively, the center of media universe. You’d think that the most valuable franchise in the NBA would be able to do better than this given their home market
Yup, I used to live in LA and watch a lot of Lakers. Stu Lantz is THAT BAD, and has always been. Yet he’s been their color commentator since the 80s. Must be one of those part of the Laker family things…
Yeah, could not watch the game because of this (and the frenetic execution of the Kings offense).
What always disgusts me about these super teams — Lakers, Yankees, etc. — is less the brash entitlement and privilege that the players, announcers and fans exude than the wretched stank of their underlying insecurity.
Next game, try this defensive minded starting lineup, Coach Mike —- Mitchell, Velvet, Keegs, Barnes and Sabonis. …….. Second team: Fox, Monk, Bazemore, Metu, Holmes. See if we’re not up by 60 points by half. Let Fox and Monk try to recapture Kentucky college days on second unit.
Stats of the night: Brown played 20 guys, each played for at least 6 minutes, each, except for Dellavedova scored, and the Kings made only 7 turnovers.
Kings won by 30, top 4 team in the West. Lebron can’t make a shot, likely to retire before end of season. Keegan Murray a lock for ROY and NBA first team. Am I doing this right?
Keegan per 36 numbers 27pts, 10 Reb. = MVP
Backup unit could win games with a final score of 15-12.
Prediction, Kings go 81-0-1. First tie in NBA history because the backup unit goes 21 overtimes with both units not scoring a single point.
I was at a poker table and caught a play late in the 1st qtr which confirmed to me that Fox can never be an alpha or the leader of the team. What a waste of a big contract for an undisciplined player. On his 5th year and still has zero fundamentals.
3 on 1 on a fastbreak with two teammates to his right for an easy bucket had he passed the ball. But instead, he forced his drive through the defender, missed the shot, got fouled and missed 1 (or both – i forgot) FT.
Be it preseason, summer league, D league or whatever, you have to play with fundamentals. That is how you continue to improve your game.
I sincerely hope he doesn’t make a leap this year so he can be traded.
They won’t trade him, because Kings. But hey don’t worry, after we’re eliminated from playoff contention he’ll play like an All-NBA player so we can convince ourselves over the summer that next season we’ll break the streak.
Didn’t see the game. Ran screaming through the comments. From what I scanned doesn’t sound good for the Kings. How bad did we get beat? Comments look brutal. How did Keegan and Davion do.
On the other hand the 49ers looked great tonite. Good game. Totally different than last week.
coach Brown had more to say after the game about Keegan. more than scoring. impressive all around. and the fact that there are no issues about his wrist is good.
Keegan Murray is good at basketball. It’s so weird to see a Kings player make shots and rarely make mistakes. Very strange. His best play of the night was the lob to Richaun Holmes. I think he’ll be able to score and play solid defense but creating for others is what top tier guys do and we are going to need him to be that to make serious progress.
Murray being a silent assassin. Nothing about him is flashy. He’s in the right spot, and makes the right play. On offense and defense.
Mitchell. His defense is unreal. Easily my favorite player.
Huerter.I was completely unfamiliar with him, and his game. ballhandling better than I expected, and he’s visually bigger than I expected, and his jumper looked pretty smooth, even if not shooting particularly well tonight.
Things I liked, not so much:
Fox’s shooting selection. My guy needs to stop shooting catch and shoot jumpers. He has people for that role. He needs to attack the basket and find an in rhythm shot that way.
Sabonis shooting selection. My guy needs to stop passing out from 2 feet away from basket. There was a possession he kicked it out, that was swung to Fox for a catch and shoot jumper. I would much rather him play bullyball down there and get an attempt from 2ft than make that pass.
Let me see if I have this right… after 4 or 5 practices a plethora of new players, a new coach, new offense, new defense and we don’t look smooth and in sync?..hmm we must have lost by 30 points with all that newness and chaos..

Is this where the party is at?
Fxxk the Fakers.
and finally a real game to look at Murray
Kings basketball is back, baby! Let’s kick some Faker ass!
Ready for my first look at Murray with the main roster, and to see the progress that’s been made in camp so far!
Go Kings!
Okpala??WTF?? Dude was at the end of the Heat bench.
He may be killing it in pre season. Coach said, time will be earned.
Wait. Is this a rerun from a previous season? Looks like the same ol’ Kangz.
There’s that Kings basketball we know and love!
If you don’t like that, you don’t like Kangz basketball!
So KZ is guarding LBJ? Lol…ok.
Was there any suggestion which wouldn’t elicit an Lol?
Keegan. He’s the #4 pick. Play him.
Murray played a bit more than double the minutes Okpala did. Is that not important or am I missing something?
Ugly Kings drives to the hoop.
I really hope to see an aggressive Fox this season. Bricking mid-rangers isn’t going to cut it.
Almost seems like he always wants to start off by shooting jumpers. I dunno. I think taking it to the rack to get his offense going would lead to open jumpers. Maybe that makes too much sense.
Alotta shit Fox needs to improve on….for Kings to take off. I’m dubious. Gotta see it
I know it’s pre season but hated seeing Fox on break not dish to Murray
its small but Fox always keeps in break and, more importantly, you e got a rookie in his first game. Dish fir east dunk.
aNd his shot looks gross
These lakers anouncers are the worst.
So bad. They never even say who’s on floor for Kings. Who comes in for them.
The preshow never even mentioned the kings either.
To this day, I have no idea how Stu Lantz has a job. I’ve thought he was a horrible commentator longer than I’ve been a Kings fan (seriously).
Couldn’t understand half of his commentary, dude’s got mush mouth.
Happy basketball season everyone!
Keegan can shoot. Good
Not gonna shoot 33% all night are we?
No. It’ll get worse.
Too many desperate drives to the rim.
The team is using the Fox gameplay model.
Is Monk still playing for the Lakers?
Yes.
I’m glad someone got that!
It feels like I’m watching pick up basketball. No semblance of any offensive sets.
Yeah it’s not that they’re losing, it’s that they look like shit and are taking bad shots.
Sacramento Kings: they look like shit and are taking bad shots
Is Pete Carril the only coach that can teach us a proven offense?
Nice to see Wenyen Gabriel has bulked up and looking like he has earned playing time.
Agreed. He was a good energy guy off the bench and I was surprised to see him making some plays out there.
Give me a break Fox
His shot looks terrible.
Sorry but he CHOKES with EZ shots a majority of the time!!! Front rim freak!
Have the Kings run a single play for Sabonis, because last I checked he’s being guarded by the guy who backed him up last season.
Yup. He looks good.
Clearly Starter #4
I’m going with the SacraTomato / Big ‘Mater from now on.
Red Velvet and a very few others on Kings look like they’re playing the correct sport.
This looks like the first preseason game. Both teams are horrid
However this game turns out will decide the season. Lose here, might as well book the fishing charter now.
It’s not about winning or losing. It’s about the Kings looking very bad. Not missing shots bad but shot selection bad.
Agreed. Just want to see some improvement. Any improvement.
2-10 and clanking free throws. Freaking Fox is killing me.
Yes more of that Fox. Play hangry. Attack the rim. And read a book about what point guards do.
Fox turning on the afterburners will never not be entertaining.
Fox clanking J’s and FT’s are not.
After playing godawful, we almost went into half down two. Yep, preseason.
It seems the emphasis has been on this Gap defense, which is working fairly well. Fox seems genuinely engaged on that end, as do others.
And that would be my generous guess as to why the offense is a confused mess.
yes…If Fox is engaged…then that’s good sign…….
but the 2nd unit needs to do a much better job
Loving the hot takes in the first half of a preseason game. Kings basketball and fandom are back!!!
I love how the Kings upgraded their shooting. Spreading the floor making 11% of their 3 point shots.
Only fitting that the shooting at the crypto.com arena sucks as much as crypto.
Murray better be starting when the season starts.
Keegan !!!!!!!!!!
Are we feeling a little better?
Mike Brown told them ..it is a must win game
No, Fox was terrible. It’s garbage time now. Again, it’s not about winning or losing. Give us a little more credit. We’re not idiots.
Speak for yourself, I am definitely an idiot.
Starters looked like crap, except Huerter. At the very least, we have a deeper bench.
What a steal by Murray !!!!!!!
Got to start Keegan.
Right?????
I’m ok with making him earn it. This team isn’t threatening for the title.
Bingo.
Earn it over which player? He is clearly better than the other options at that position.
I’d run this lineup out there for opening night starters.
How is the L-kers broadcast crew this bad?
They’re dipshits. Haven’t named the Kings on the floor all night and mixed up Davion and Keegan.
They disrespected us all night.
Jaden who?
poison
Don’t tell me they’re going to try Magic Metu this year. I don’t want him on the floor very often at all, let alone bringing it up the floor.
Lyles knows his role as the #10 man in a 10 man rotation. Metu doesn’t gel.
yes…that’s the edge of Lyles over Metu
I can’t believe how much better the Kings are than the Lakers. I knew they’d be better, but they are treating them like a college team.
Going to bed. My takeaways:
Keegan could end up one of the most efficient forwards in the NBA. We might really have something here.
Richaun Holmes is welcome in Sacramento as long as he’s content to work behind Sabonis. Dude’s a beast and I’m rooting for him this season.
Fox/Monk get paid too much to miss as many shots as they did. Red Velvet is smooth as hell. Sabonis needs to be a bit more selfish.
Terrence “Nick Young” Davis
Why does Cole Swider look like he’s wearing pantyhose?
According to whoever this is calling the game, Len played last season with Washington and Toronto, then signed with the Kings.
Also, apparently Buddy being dealt resulted in opening up more playing time for Metu to play forward.
these guys did no homework except exercised their lips to kiss all things faker
Next game, try this defensive minded starting lineup, Coach Mike —- Mitchell, Velvet, Keegs, Barnes and Sabonis. …….. Second team: Fox, Monk, Bazemore, Metu, Holmes. See if we’re not up by 60 points by half. Let Fox and Monk try to recapture Kentucky college days on second unit.
Now that’s a bench!!!
that’s not a bad idea.
Seriously.
I’d go even further with KZO over Barnes.
Oh, and winning the first preseason game of the season by almost 30 over your most despised rivals is ……. A good omen.
Points off Turnovers edge was 30-4. That’s the game in a nutshell.
Keegan Murray with 16 and 6 with two steals, zero turnovers and solid D.
A window into his game.
oh, but I’m just not sure- is he athletic enough. Boy what a reach with Mathurin still on the board. and poison
LOLs
Ha. Talking heads….
What I liked most of all is his D against NBA players. Heady player. Looks even smoother now than in LVSL.
Keegan Murray = MVP. Fixed it
Of course, how did I miss that?!
got too humble
Keegan per 36 numbers 27pts, 10 Reb. = MVP
Backup unit could win games with a final score of 15-12.
Prediction, Kings go 81-0-1. First tie in NBA history because the backup unit goes 21 overtimes with both units not scoring a single point.
Prediction of the five cuts: Delly, Davis, Cook, Metu, Mineke.
only have to cut 3 since 2 are two ways ( Ellis + Q)
I would cut Cook, Delly and Merril and I know !no third PG
Keegan = baller
I want to see Davion and Keon on the floor together.
Davion + Keon + Moneke + KZO
Always nice to beat the Fakers.
Didn’t we go 4-0 in our last preseason? Or was that the season before?
It was last preseason.
I was at a poker table and caught a play late in the 1st qtr which confirmed to me that Fox can never be an alpha or the leader of the team. What a waste of a big contract for an undisciplined player. On his 5th year and still has zero fundamentals.

about those final roster spots, I like what I saw from Moneke, Bazemore and Ellis.
