This team looks utterly lost. Playing no defense, turning the ball over, hesitating on every decision and settling for 3s. They don’t look like they have any idea what to do out there and wouldn’t have the confidence to do it even if they did.
Kings shot 62% from the field and 50% from three. That’s not sustainable, so they are going to have to play some defense in the 2nd half to hang onto this one.
Making 17/18 shots? Yeah, that’ll win you some games. Down 19 at the 1:40 mark in the first to up 15 at the half. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen such a swing. Lord, I hope they keep it up. Our bench guards are stellar tonight. Huerter might not get much more playing time tonight.
It really is too bad they didn’t trade him. Hopefully on the off-season but I have a bad feeling that Monte thinks he’s a key piece or something. He’s certainly over values him. At least I think so.
Just my two cents, just because what Adamsite says below is true, going to have to find Defensive intensity because they won’t shoot 17/18, I would start Keon to start the 3rd, giving Davion a long blow, then sub Davion in after 5-6 mins.
Davion’s 12 minutes felt just about right, and Keon’s 6:52 minutes played felt low.
Monk is going to play a lot of the second half, and so is Fox.
In other words, if Huerter plays more than 10 minutes in the second half, I feel like it’s a big mistake, because all of the other guards are just outplaying him.
Popped into my head randomly. It was sometime in 2021, dog days when the games stopped mattering, and considering how poor he was he did really well on D for a game.
He has the athletic ability, not sure why he isn’t better at an all around game. In the NBA everyone is a really good player. That may be part of it. Athletic ability is not enough in some cases.
The play I remember was his catch and 360 dunk. First two point points as a King I think.
It seems there is some monkey business going on or I don’t know the rule with the time clock. That inbounds was not touched by a laker so no 24 second clock starts but the game clock stayed on 4:00 for a long time while the ball was on the court.
Back to back game tomorrow. I think Kevin is a good player. He has expanded his game in some areas, but most of his salary is for scoring. Having said that, I hope Davion and Keon get more run tomorrow.
So great to see.. Awesome to see all the Ellis love in the other threads where we all wonder why he doesn’t get more playtime and then he comes in and proves he can have a real impact.
Ellis do you know the game clock rules inside of 5 minutes of the end of a quarter. If the ball is inbounded, but not touched (a la Fox who does that frequently) the game clock starts immediately doesn’t it, even though the 24 second clock does not start until the player touches the ball, correct?
It’s always the same… Anytime of the game otherwise you would have some crazy inbound scenarios with short clocks in close games so it’s always the same in the NBA
As a Chicoan who goes to games about once a season, City Hall Garage (or street parking next to Cesar Chavez Plaza if you can get it) are my family’s usual go-to
If you don’t mind walking a little I often park in the Old Sacramento parking garage because it’s the cheapest. K street runs right into Old Sac with a walkthrough under the freeway.
first!
that’s why eat chocolate donuts every morning
I just had two of the Entenmann’s chocolate covered donuts. So good with that little crunch.
Classic snack.
First!
. . . Oh man, I’m slow tonight. I forgot to eat chocolate donuts this morning.
Goddamn, that Lakers “cryo freeze” player intro is corny.
Go Kings! Beat LA today and everyday in every way!!!
KH keys to the game …
Anthony Davis with the first flop of the game.
Great pass by our big man
sloppy Joe, slop-sloppy joe …
Kings look terrible.
Huerter with two misses and a TO … next man up
Kyle Draper getting way too excited about wedgies
players-only meetings suck
This team looks utterly lost. Playing no defense, turning the ball over, hesitating on every decision and settling for 3s. They don’t look like they have any idea what to do out there and wouldn’t have the confidence to do it even if they did.
Was there a tech in a Kings player? Is that why the Lakers are up by so much/went on a run?
Of course they are.
Davion one of the only bright spots so far.
this teams shitty tendencies are not gonna be overcome. It’s too irritating watching this knowing they didn’t fix the player personnel issues.
It’s totally fine not to watch.
Thanks for the snide remark. Just because someone complains about the team doesn’t mean you need to try to rein them in.
It wasn’t a snide remark. Complain to your heart’s content, and watch or not watch.
Or announce that you won’t watch and then watch anyway, or vice versa.
Enjoy.
I can also butch on this game thread and keep watching the entire game if I want to.
forms are for freedom of expression.
Nobody said you couldn’t.
You can do whatever you want.
Yup. Just watching the same players make the same mistakes over and over again.
James Ham said he wants 3-4 new rotation players (as in Top 8 guys) next season and I 100% agree with him.
AD just dribbled right around Davion.
That should be the 6th defensive violation by the LeBrows not the first
some of these Kings players should just go back to bed.
Keon Ellis in there. That’s a good thing.
Ellis instantly forces an offensive foul.
Then gives a hard contest to Russell and grabs a rebound. Give the kid minutes.
If Ellis doesn’t play a lot of minutes in this game, I’m going to be disappointed.
Wish he’d gotten 15 minutes last game against Coby White.
Fox, Monk, Ellis, Lyles, and Len…. Hmmm
Wow. Kings down only nine after that miserable first quarter?
Let’s go Lyles redeem team
Len put Lebonk down my dude
Ellis came it and the Kings rallied.
He just plays at a higher intensity level than everybody else.
Is Keon playing tomorrow? Asking for some friends
Comment of the night…so far.
Suddenly the Kings look like the team with more energy and better execution.
. . . And now it just looks sloppy all around.
So this is the death lineup?
Komodo dragon bite lineup
lineup of angry disturbed bee hive
The Keon Ellis game?
Keon Dreamon Ellis
Sick move by Fox there.
Put AD on the short bus.
It’s a game.
Nice comeback by the Kings.
Mitchell ties it up. Wow.
Mason Jones looked like he was about to go out and fight AD after that timeout
And the Kings are winning. What is this team?
Monk, Davion, and Ellis led that comeback, at various points. Lakers guard defense is staggeringly weak.
This Kings team has something for the optimists and the pessimists.
They’re a full-service team.
Full spectrum love-hate
This is not good for my blood pressure.
Domas with another sitting assist
from the ground, still doing ball-fakes
All after Davis fouled him twice before the ball wrestling match. Domas awarded two points for riding time on the mat.
Davion having another good game on O and D.
Davion’s 3s are wet lately.
Keep pressing the intensity. Take care of the basketball and have some fun out there.
Watching the LA broadcast and the commentators don’t know what’s going on with this timeout, another boneheaded Brown challenge I assume?
Keegan gets slapped in the face by a *akers player…. There better be some reciprocation!
OH MY GOD WE WON A CHALLENGE!!!!
MB best challenge coach ever
Kings win the challenge, but an out of bounds challenge in the 2nd quarter is such a stupid challenge by Brown.
Jones and McGee are living their best lives on the bench
God I love broadcast teams whose discussions only last one possession.
Davion is feeling it!
Davion Mitchell is a flamethrower
Dude’s gonna fuck around and become an elite 3 and D player
Davion doing marvelous work on Russell, who has been neutralized for the time being.
Davions shot last 20 definitely looks better
True enough. He is playing well. Just continue to hustle and take the open shot. Some Coach deserves a pay raise.
This could be a blowout in either direction.
How did games come to have such wilder swings?
Everyone and their mother can shoot 35% from three on 5 attempts a game?
Davion and Ellis both deserve more minutes, somehow.
LA just wants this half to end
First minutes of third period the Kings need to be ready with aggressive O and D.
Vintage Kings v Lakers reffing, 6 vs 21 FTs this half
Free throw disparity is already embarrassing. For the refs.
Lakers lead the league in getting to the line. At least it seems that way.
Monk is en fuego. He just gave third-degree burns to some TikTok influencers sitting courtside.
Was that a 44 point quarter by the Kings.
yup
What a weird first half. It’s a tale of two quarters
It was the worst of times,
It was the best of times.
Dickens’d
Fox has hit two final second shots so far.
Four for four?
I hope Mason Jones makes it in the 4th.
14 consecutive scores.
Remember earlier in the game all the Lebron flexing?
Need Len to throw him down couple more times
Kings shot 62% from the field and 50% from three. That’s not sustainable, so they are going to have to play some defense in the 2nd half to hang onto this one.
I also think, but I am not certain, there was only one whistled foul on the Lakers in the 2d.
Yup.
Right. Just enough. Because outscoring/outshooting is the Kings model.
and/or Fox bail us out
Making 17/18 shots? Yeah, that’ll win you some games. Down 19 at the 1:40 mark in the first to up 15 at the half. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen such a swing. Lord, I hope they keep it up. Our bench guards are stellar tonight. Huerter might not get much more playing time tonight.
It is clear 1- scoring more/good O is only path for Kings this game, this year.
2-Heurter is a problem for this team unless hitting a ton of shots. And he represents Monte’s want to outscore/outshoot teams to win.
Is Huerter coming back? I think from MB rotations that’s a yes
It really is too bad they didn’t trade him. Hopefully on the off-season but I have a bad feeling that Monte thinks he’s a key piece or something. He’s certainly over values him. At least I think so.
He’s on a very fair contract. He’s making Luke Kennard and KCP money.
Deuce just hit on something heavy with the halftime talk. Huerter and Barnes did not play in the 2nd quarter. That should be noted.
Truth. No D. I mean, it’s ridiculous to be having this discussion right now and both of those guys should’ve been traded, removed the bench.
But it is what it is. I’m wondering if Mike Brown hast to push against Monte to not play hurt her as much or Barnes even?
Oh ii didn’t even notice. Let’s see MB rotations 2nd half
Just my two cents, just because what Adamsite says below is true, going to have to find Defensive intensity because they won’t shoot 17/18, I would start Keon to start the 3rd, giving Davion a long blow, then sub Davion in after 5-6 mins.
Ellis +16 in 7 mins.
…and a DNP/CD tomorrow…probably.
Barnes and Huerter need to have the shortest of leashes in the second half. Can’t be lethargic and let other team back in it.
P.S. No Wemby tomorrow.
Scrolling through the comments at halftime is fun.
Is there any NBA coach who is not obligated to put starters back in and just stick with hot lineup? I don’t get this
Shit never mind
Domas comes out hot!
Most happy Laker on the floor? Russell, neither Davion or Ellis is on the floor.
Lakers commentators calling Domas a legit MVP candidate
If Barnes in Huerter stay in, Brown is drunk
Brown is drunk.
Brown is sober, I am a pessimist.
Davis camped out in the lane about 7 seconds
I learned this year that Keon Ellis is a rotation player in the NBA. I wonder when Mike Brown finds that out.
MB starting to get too predictable.
And one I hope
Fox with a nice sequence there
eddie, didnt see your comment. Didn’t intend to jump the shark. It was a great sequence. Then He repeats it a second time.
that’s alright. it’s a game thread
I hope he continues going into the lane.
Fox is AD’s krytonite.
That was Fox at his best, great D on Reeves and then a two plus one on the other end.
Fox around and find out
Fox playing like he’s angry.
Unrelated, y’all remember that one time Bagley kinda locked down LeBron for a game?
No. No I don’t. Is it true?
Popped into my head randomly. It was sometime in 2021, dog days when the games stopped mattering, and considering how poor he was he did really well on D for a game.
He has the athletic ability, not sure why he isn’t better at an all around game. In the NBA everyone is a really good player. That may be part of it. Athletic ability is not enough in some cases.
The play I remember was his catch and 360 dunk. First two point points as a King I think.
Fox needs to FLEX!
Fox again and again and again and again.
Lmao, Domas was already high fiving on the steal before Fox even got the dunk in
Uh-oh, the dreaded 21 point lead.
And technical foul
Vlade is at the game with Vivek.
Fox doing his James flex.
Meanwhile Allstar Anthony Davis be doin what?
Hahahahahahahaha Domas to HB standing alone under the hoop.
well, some people say he can be invisible out there
I know what our MVP is doing….making All Star passes.
quick elevation by Keegan on that dunk
This game is so much more fun than usual.
Is Keon done for the night? Could really use his energy right now.
No defense, and they’re right back in it.
Let’s go Len, stop those LeBonk drives
Yuk 10-0 run.
yeah, that high knee by Hayes is dirty
unless he’s a spaz. then it would just be a spazzy play.
I wouldn’t call it dirty, but it’s definitely an offensive foul, IMO.
It is an offensive foul that never gets called.
Woah. Mike Brown 2 for 2
What MB 2/2? WTFFFFFF. 🤣
Mike Brown is reaching prime Luke Walton challenging levels
Keon Ellis sighting.
Hopefully Huerter is done.
Why is Lebron burning clock like they’re in the lead? Is he catching his breath?
Ohhhh Fox almost went 3 for 3 closing quarters.
Will ISO 4th Fox Monk work tonight? Stay tuned folks
He doesn’t need to go iso, but use his mid range game when it is available and that will deliver a hard blow to the Lakers.
Focus on defense. Lock the lookers down. Get Davion and Ellis more run.
Keon playing good D on D-Lo
Indeed. Long way to go but he is playing great D on him, as you say.
I saw D-Lo’s mouth moving a lot early in the game. Not so much anymore.
Kings been hiding this lineup all season
This lineup with Ellis has certainly been a revelation.
Just keep playing D
The Kings are simply a better team than the Lakers.
The Lakers like to play with pace, but somehow the Kings just make them look old.
Reaves could play on my team but by God I would hate him at the same time.
The Lakers commentators are stuck on this ongoing story about how the Lakers have been hot lately.
Meanwhile, they’re down by 19 points in the fourth.
Fakers are done… put Lebron back in
Eddie, there is Keon just completely out playing and frustrating Russell
yeah, he matched up well on D-Lo in the 1st half also
Davion forces the jump ball. Beautiful.
Tick tick tick…. LA just walking around the perimeter playing iso
Kings are playing with . . . inspired defense?
Iso 4th is back. MB same same
Right? It’s no mystery how they blow leads.
It is and it’s a mistake. Good thing they called a time out. Get their shit together.
with a double-digit lead, it’s okay to let some clock burn
Man they can’t put teams away.
Kings need to make some buckets
Getting lazy…good timeout.
Keon (13) has more minutes than Huerter (11).
That feels like some kind of moral victory.
C’mon Kings! 10 more points. Wrap this up.
My trust in these guys is at 0 right now.
D-Lo walking the ball up with the Lakers down 14 with 4 minutes left is the definition of a losing player.
It seems there is some monkey business going on or I don’t know the rule with the time clock. That inbounds was not touched by a laker so no 24 second clock starts but the game clock stayed on 4:00 for a long time while the ball was on the court.
Free throws 25-12 in the Lakers favor. Kayte: I like the consistency of the officiating!
That Fox hoop is ballgame. What a fun game that was.
I love the Kings guards going right at AD and being completely successful all night. AD is not a defensive threat
Maybe Coach gets the DPOG chain for winning both his challenges?
Bonus points for giving Keon and Davion playing time.
Both played more minutes than Huerter. They’ve both earned it.
He completely dominated and ruined Russell tonight. He air balled a three and wanted no part of shooting by half way through the court.
One of the great joys of being a Kings fan is watching the Kings beat the Lakers in LA.
The only thing missing is a video clip of Lakers fans filing their way out of the stadium with five minutes to spare.
Light that BEAM!
I hear the chant!
Giles on the floor! We love you Harry!
Harry Giles sighting!
Harry Giles on the court.
great bounce-back win
Drubbed those fools.
Ellis do you know the game clock rules inside of 5 minutes of the end of a quarter. If the ball is inbounded, but not touched (a la Fox who does that frequently) the game clock starts immediately doesn’t it, even though the 24 second clock does not start until the player touches the ball, correct?
They start simultaneously when the player touches the ball.
Ok. Do they start simultaneously but only inside of 5:00 minutes, or anytime. I need some sleep.
It’s always the same… Anytime of the game otherwise you would have some crazy inbound scenarios with short clocks in close games so it’s always the same in the NBA
Thx. I am either watching way too much basketball or not enough.
it’s always a great day when we beat LA. LTB!
Fox giving Davion and Ellis mad props.
Heading to game tomorrow night. Where’s the best place to park these days?
I have a season pass at 300 Capitol Mall (Emerald building). $6/game. I think individual games are $10.
As a Chicoan who goes to games about once a season, City Hall Garage (or street parking next to Cesar Chavez Plaza if you can get it) are my family’s usual go-to
Chicoan here as well! I picked up a spot in the garage next to Macy’s. Kinda pricey but I hear the walk to G1 is nice.
If you don’t mind walking a little I often park in the Old Sacramento parking garage because it’s the cheapest. K street runs right into Old Sac with a walkthrough under the freeway.
Totally don’t mind walking but we got something a little closer.
Rockets almost stole a game from the Clips.
Damn.
Domas is undefeated in games against Anthony Davis. 9-0.
He is an MVP quality player.
