You posted this thread just as the Kings took the lead! Good timing!
Kings have never trailed in the delayed game thread era
Leading at halftime. Works for me!
If they keep up the rebounding and hold down the TO’s the Kings have a good opportunity to win this game. Let’s go Fox.
Good point. Once they stopped turning the ball over (which was mainly the 2nd unit doing so), the Kings got back into the game.
They’ll probably need 40 minutes from Harrison Barnes, too. Unfortunately.
He may have to play high 30’s for sure. He is young and playing hard, he can do it. Lyles and/or Monk need to have a good night scoring.
Monk in particular needs to pick it up. He was 1-7 in the 1st half. Lyles scored 4 points, but I thought he did a lot of good things in the 1st half with his energy, defense and rebounding.
Ideally Monk drives to the bucket and draws fouls and puts the Lakers in foul trouble.
He ain’t doing it so far Kingsguru, so what do I know, happy to see Heurter picking up the difference.
34 to 32 paint points Lakers advantage. It could have been a hell of a lot worse and at one point the Kings were down 10+ points in that category.
Richaun Holmes has been tremendous so far, too. Absolutely what the Kings needed to have a good shot winning tonight.
He’s looking like pre-eye injury Holmes. Kings need that kind of guy to win this game.
He’s also easier to trade, too, IMO. If teams see he can still play, I don’t think the contract bothers them a bit. It’s just finding a deal that works.
Force Lakers to shoot jumpers and good things happen. Think the Lakers had 24 points in the paint in that 1st quarter and then were held to just 10 in that 2nd.
Couldn’t remember the number but that sounds right. Kings scored a lot of their points in the paint in the 2nd qtr, too.
With Sabonis, this team is the 4th seed in the West. Without Sabonis, we’d be lucky to make the play-in.
I guess it’s a good thing Domas isn’t dead, just sick!
Says a lot about his impact, but also the precarious state of this team.
Assuming good health, though, Domas should end up an All-NBAer.
It does. IMO Domas should be in absolute consideration for all NBA based on what he has done.
But….it’s great for Mike Brown, the team and Domas that they could go into Lakerland and come out with a win. Not having to play Domas 40 minutes tonight is a big W IMO. The minutes load was just getting to be too much.
Agreed. The scary shadow in the corner everyone has been ignoring this season has been how bad the team is the moment he steps off the floor.
Its good to see Holmes holding his own, but it shows how much he needs the offense reshaped around his strengths, rather than trying to fill Domas’ shoes.
Holmes took about 5 steps with the ball there
This is an important game forRH, and he’s rising to the challenge. Good for him! He’s been pretty invisble so far this year. We need him.
There is some urgency to his pace and his D isn’t there? Good game so far, doing a good job closing out on shooters.
I legit didn’t even realize Pat Bev was playing. Fox treating him like a traffic cone
contest that three
It’s wild to watch Holmes try and run the DHO compared to Sabonis. It makes you realize the significant gap in talent amongst the best 400 basketball players in the world.
good board by Keegan!
He’s been working harder on rebounding lately. Love the way Coach Brown challenges him to develop his game.
I’m gonna give credit to Coach Brown. The wings normally leak out for the fast break while Sabonis grabs the board and leads the counter. Tonight, however, those wings are crashing the boards with Sabonis out.
Coach Brown must’ve really challenged him and the others tonight with Domas out. Keegan has been aggressively crashing the boards tonight
Barnes with a long range 3
HB from Santa Monica Blvd.
Vlade in the crowd.
Vlade, you belong in LA ????
I get that he is free to go to games, but I simply don’t understand why he seems to pick critical games for the Kings to attend. This game is important in terms of who has the tie breaker in winning the season series if the two teams tie for a playoff seed.
yeah, I’m still a big fan.
no VIP seat either
Bron to the bench and Russ running the show. Time for the Kings to build that lead up some more
Huerter is the hot hand
Rise the Huert hand
I understand the complaints about the broadcast crew, but I am all for the roast of Westbrook.
44 to 36 paint points now advantage Sac!!!!! Keep it up boys!!!!
Wasn’t looking that way in the first half. Good adjustments being made!
Lakers with just 2 points in the paint this quarter. Keep it up….they can’t come close to hanging with the Kings shooting
KEEGAN!
yeah Keegan!
Keegan is having a sneaky very good game.
the dime from Davion!
Monk is off
These Davion monk minutes aren’t going too well
Monk has been a complete disaster this entire game
that sequence from him was bad. didn’t contest a three point shooter either.
LOL, Westbrook.
Did Davion just block a three point shot????
Big fan of these Mezie-Lyles-3rd Forward sets that Brown has been throwing out. Offers size, defensive versatility, and lob threats in the composite. Good vision.
My only gripe is not seeing the offense run though Keegan. But I’m assuming that comes with time and experience on Keegan’s part. Otherwise I’d agree with you.
He’s not ready. He’s not the playmaker or self creator necessary to take the offense on his shoulders.
Needs to work on dribble packages and some wrinkles to his game this off-season because that man only knows how to go straight at the basket and get blocked 1v1.
maybe this game is too much for Malik Monk to handle
Bron is back in and the lead down to 6. Gotta get Fox back in now. Bench has been unproductive all game and that 14 point lead is evaporating quickly
Not a good 3pt shot by Fox
Already 3 team fouls by the Lakers 2 minutes into the quarter.
Good. Attack the paint.
And there you go. LAkers already in the penalty
What a full court dime from Lebron
I’m fine with Russ taking and making those 3’s. Let him shoot those contested shots until the final buzzer.
Ladies and gentleman Deaaron Fox is an all star
good D by Lyles
King are in the bonus. MAKE YOUR FREE THROWS.
Lakers already in the penalty. Expecting HB and Fox to keep attacking this Lakers defense
Is that 4 fouls for Nunn?????
4 as well on Schroder now.
Lakers can’t miss from 3 in the 4th….of course
Just get stops.
1 point game midway in the 4th in LA. Refs lingering to make some atrocious calls in the Lakers favor
Gotta take advantage if LeBron is on the bench.
Ham saw that Westbrook possession and immediately got Bron back in lol
Very short lived Bron rest, for sure. LOL
Yeah, he can’t have Westbrook leading the Lakers midway through the fourth.
good D by Holmes
Keep doubling Lebron!
difficult matchup because they have Beverly to guard Fox
Time to finish off this non-playoff team on their home court.
Crap, Fox a little gimpy after that layup
How is that not basket interference?
2 bad offensive possessions by the Kings and an and 1 by Lebron. SMH.
HB!
It is stunning that the game is this close.
Resign that man!
Just get a f@#king stop!
PAY THIS MAN HB
It’s time for the full Westbrook experience here ideally
How can a Kings fan not love Westbrook? Love that guy. I want to mail Westbrook a fruitbasket.
#metu
What self discipline by Metu to not fall for those pumpfakes
Nail biting time!
Time for the Fox dagger
GG. Fuck the Lakers.
Nice W on the road without Sabonis. Fox showed his mettle.
I honestly thought he’d put up 40. But yeah, good win, good fourth quarter defense, and especially nice play from Richaun Holmes, despite the lack of pick and rolls. Nice, nice game.
Nobody dominated a kings lakers gamelike Kobe
Ugh….Fox FT shooting the only blemish tonight on his game. Time to lock up on defense and secure the board
That’s a clear path foul!
This is all so beautiful.
Light the Beam chants in LA LOL
Love it!
The ultimate reaction from Lakers bandwagon fans LOL
Holmes! 2 FT’S
Everytime I hear Max Christie’s name, I hear the song “Christie Road”. Great vintage Green Day track
Holmes for post game interview. What a game from him tonight
Richaun Holmes…. Light the beam from LA? The fans that haven’t left the stadium early are asking for it.
Light the Beam chants in LA LOL
AND Kings win the season series vs LA
Beautiful game. And the Kings had a chance to grow from the absence of Sabonis. So many positives from this game.
My favorite part of the game is just seeing Richaun Holmes play again. He clearly can still play, if he gets enough minutes. I wonder if tonight might convince a team to take a swing on Richaun sooner than the deadline.
Very, very happy for Richaun. Richaun is the highlight of this one.
And for Dr. Holmes and Richaun’s Dad too. Really classy people, hope they were at the game to see Richaun play so well. It’s easy to pull for the DPOG tonight.
A huge takeaway from this win, and really important in the chess game of playoff spots later in the season.
big W
Light the Beam!
Did the Pelicans lose as well? I wonder what that portends???????
Kings are now 3rd in the West.
?
The Kings are the 3rd seed in the West after the Pelicans loss and the W against the Lakers.
I appreciate the shout out in the after game thread the other night when I was referencing the Pelicans starting to lose and The Kings winning more…. I didn’t expect the Kings to win without Sabonis but I’m not suprised. Some posters just put a question mark after my comment. Who just puts a question mark after a comment? Again… Thank you.
A poster you should ignore. I ignore him, too. That’s all I can really say.
I’m with you on the W tonight, this definitely goes on the unexpected side of the ledger. But it was a good W nonetheless to get for so many reasons. For me, the big one is that you are now 5-5 in the Pacific Division (and 13-9 against the West) after starting 2-4 against the Pacific Division.
I thought this had a chance at being a good team with a really good offense and a hopefully not awful defense…but man….these guys just bring it every night. It’s a lot of fun from my where I sit!
That’s amazing. Who could have predicted that?
Only a crazy ass fool. 🙂
Gotta love Westbrook not even trying to get a miracle. Send Domas a purple remote and have him light the Beam from his house
Light the MF Beam and point it right at Los Angeles!
Light the beam chants in LA made my day!
A lot of good things came from this win, among those being the Kings win the season series and now possess the tie breaker against the Lakers.
Yep, and now there’s absolutely nothing that the Lakers can do about it. They can’t even deal Westbrook at this point, not without giving away two first-round picks as well.
I synched Gerry Geroud on the radio with the game on TV. It means there is about a 45-60 second difference from the actual game clock. So, I am not “current” on the thread as the game winds down to the tipping point plays.
In any event, delta noted the season series win by the Kings before I did. He is right, it is important. There are a lot of games left in this season. Nice to control the Lakers destiny should the Lakers challenge for a playoff spot.
Well, I don’t care about the tie breaker more than the win for this reason: I think the Kings should be thinking about a top 6 record, and really a top 4 record at this point. They are right there. The Lakers won’t challenge for a top 6 record IMO unless they get back AD really, really soon.
I think what’s important is that the Kings are winning games on the road when they need to take advantage of opportunities. Like tonight. Like last Sunday in San Antonio.
Oh, and this is the 2nd 5+ winning streak the Kings have had this season. The last time they did that? The 04-05 season. They had winning streaks of 7, 6 & 5 games.
The West is so murky and impossible to project that I get why you would say the tiebreaker matters. What I think really matters is that you got the W without having to play Domas a minute. They needed to get him some rest and if he got the flu, then so be it. Whatever you gotta do to get him a bit of time off so you don’t run him nto the ground.
If AD gets back soon it just means he’s out soon after.
Ellis, I think you’re correct. I have even heard (only a few) mention that the Lakers need to assess if AD is their path to a deep run in the playoffs. Admittedly that came during a stretch of bad losses by the Lakers. One main reason is your point.
It’s just great to beat the Lakers. NBA TV is boycotting this Kings win apparently.
Can’t argue with any of what you say, post trades I think the West will tighten up, hope I am wrong. The path for me being wrong is winning those road games, as you say, and beating teams you are more talented than.
it is going to be interest to see what Phoenix and the Pelicans are going to do come the trade deadline…and the King as well.
Thank sweet baby Jesus for Westbrook.
That trade slammed that title window shut with authority.
Mavs lose. Clippers lose. Pels lose. Kings beat the Lakers. Kings 3rd in the West now. LIFE IS GOOD!
Really happy for Holmes. Dude is easy to root for and it’s been a tough season for him.
Hahaha! Light the beam right up the L*kers collective arse!
Gotta shout out Fox too. He came out aggressive from the jump knowing that with Domas out, he had to set the tone early. He delivered all game
Kings have the best road record in the Western Conference
Excellent win without Domas!
And happy for Holmes; he needed that. I hope that gives him a jolt of confidence going forward.
The Beam is lit on the header… “I seen it!”
