Update: 10 pm
The Sacramento Kings lost to the Memphis Grizzlies 129-125 at home Wednesday, picking up its 10th loss in a row. The Kings are now 12-40 on the season.
De’Andre Hunter got the start in his debut with the Kings. He had a tough night from the field, finishing 3-11 for 9 points. He added 2 rebounds and 1 assist. He had some nice defensive moments, but overall it wasn’t all that inspiring of a performance. Domantas Sabonis looked extremely sharp in the first half, though he didn’t play as much in the second half, which helped the tank. He finished with 24 points and 15 rebounds. Nique Clifford was aggressive, which was good to see. In 26 minutes, he finished with 14 points, 5 assists and 3 rebounds. With Dennis Schroder now in Cleveland, Devin Carter got some minutes and he looked good. He finished with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists, to go along with a steal and a block.
The Kings defense allowed the Grizzlies to shoot 50% from the field and 44% from three. Ty Jerome dropped 28 points and Cam Spencer added 20 for the Grizzlies.
From Earlier Preview:
The Kings are back in action following Scott Perry’s biggest move since he rejoined the organization. Of course, I’m referencing the trade that landed the Kings De’Andre Hunter for Dennis Schroder, Keon Ellis, and a 2nd round pick (routed to Chicago so they would eat Dario Saric’s contract). We went deep on this trade in the latest episode of The Kings Herald Show, so if you want to hear Jerry Reynolds discuss the move, give that a listen.
They’re playing the Grizzlies tonight, an organization that just made a franchise-altering trade of their own, sending Jaren Jackson Jr. to Utah for a bunch of draft compensation. So, this should be a fascinating (and terrible) night of basketball in Sacramento. Let’s get to it.
Who: Sacramento Kings (12-39) vs. Memphis Grizzlies (19-29)
Where: Golden 1 Center, Sacramento, CA
When: 7:00 PM PT / 10:00 PM ET
Watch: NBCSCA / League Pass
The Kings have already made one significant move, and it sounds like they’re still quite busy. They’re one of the few teams still in on Ja Morant (no thanks) and have had ongoing conversations with the Toronto Raptors about a deal centered around RJ Barrett and Domantas Sabonis. Other players like DeMar DeRozan, Malik Monk, and Devin Carter have been in and out of trade rumors all year. I think just about everything is on the table here.
Memphis, after trading JJJ, has every reason to lose as much as possible for the rest of the season. The Kings, despite trying to win most nights, can’t seem to. What does all this mean? Well, in the immediate, one very ugly night of basketball. I have no clue who the Kings or Grizzlies may sit with the NBA trade deadline tomorrow, but maybe we’ll see De’Andre Hunter debut? More Daeqwon Plowden and Isaiah Stevens? Your guess is as good as mine.
I am sure of one thing: what the Kings are working on off the court is infinitely more compelling than what is happening on it.
Prediction: Kings 120, Grizzlies 111.

Playoff dreams on ice
Cowbells echo into void
Same drought, different year ????????
Who the hell cares?
Ultimate Kangz move if Ja gets traded at half time and finishes the game with a Kings uniform and is sitting beside Vivek. At that point, i put my fingers into my eyes.
Get him a “He not like us” t shirt
i hope that vomit guy shows up every game for the rest of the year if this comes to pass
Back at home for the Grizzlies at last;
Perry’s made a small change to our cast.
We’re still hoping for more—
Older vets shown the door—
‘Cause the hole Vivek dug is so vast!
+1 Seems like more teams have joined the tank parade!
AD to the Wiz!
Odd fit to me.
AD and Trae, what could go wrong?
And MBIII to Dallas! Dallas unlocks the Luca/Marvin achievement!
Take that Vlade!
Kyrie moving in 1 day or 5 months
Just about 24 hours left for the Kangz to actually show us they intend to rebuild. I’m not holding my breath.
Apparently, Wizards called about Domas before making the AD trade. They offered Middleton’s expiring contract…Middleton and picks for Domas? Kings must really want to get RJ! They don’t want to rebuild with picks, they want “win now” players to try and compete next year.
As expected. We will not be rebuilding we will continue to shuffle deck chairs.
Sell the team!
Expiring contacts and two firsts is EXACTLY the trade the Kings should have made. Idiots.
Scott has been taking tips from Vlade!
Who took tips from Pete. Who took orders from Vivek.
and we know vlade took tips from vivek – the jedi master’s wisdom is strong in the franchise
there were some other players in the trade but Wiz gave up 2 firsts- Thunder 2026 and duds top 20 protected 2030 and 3 seconds.
Picks are not that great and the duds just might turn into second round picks
if Perry really wanted RJ, this makes no sense to trade to Wiz
And my fear is Keegan will get healthy. We’ll play just good enough to have like the fourth worst record and then drop three places and be drafting 7th in a 3 or 4 person draft..
Kylie laughing at the fact that the Griz traded everyone so he only knows Aldama. Yeah, unlike the freaking Kings who can’t seem to make an actual good move.
Oh yes, the SIX PILLARS. Thanks for mentioning that Jones. This, as we watch old vets jack air balls from three. Six pillars basketball!
Kayte is terrible. She was talking about Hunter’s fit with the Hawks. She said sometimes what looks good on paper doesn’t mesh well on the floor. Listen, let me tell you something, we know Kayte, we know.
Waiting for Kayte to talk about how the Kings lost because emotions are high at the trade deadline.
Last chance to show off some trade value from our veterans and they’re getting belt to ass from Jalen Wells, Cam Spencer, and Ty Jerome. No one is getting traded, we will find a way to lose draft capital, nothing ever happens, Keon please drop 30 and shit talk Vivek to his face.
Zinger to Dubs for Hield and Kuminga. So all it took to get Kuminga is an expiring I guess.
Always have a nice expiring in your pocket.
Hey did you hear that folks? Sacramento hasn’t been “whole” this entire season. And 25 starting lineups! If not for that they’d neeeeeevvvvver be in last place.
Welp, looks like fans aren’t going to the games. Depressing to see how Vivek has killed the high we had just three years ago.
Excellent.
You mean a team with 4 former All-Stars/All NBA lost to a G-league team without its “star player?” What travesty is this?
Now even G-league teams wont trade for Lavine or DDR.
Even with all of its flaws, it’s simply amazing/pathetic how little Christie manages to squeeze out of this roster.
I find it hard to tell whetehr they are *trying* to win or not … no confidence in their ability to achieve any objective.
They came into the season with a true belief that they were vying for a play-in spot, at the least.
Christie kept leaning heavily on his veterans until recently, trying to show that he is a viable long-time option as HC. He tried to use his best available players at crunchtime when lottery-opponent Washington played their end of the bench guys.
Believe what is convenient for you to deal with this mess, but I did my own research.
Looking forward to this Saturday when Cavalier Keon comes to crush Kangz!
good game
This is amazing. See the lineup stat at the bottom.
This tells me it’s a DeRozan issue more than a living issue. Traded Barnes got DeRozan team went downhill may be a great guy, but he was a horrible fit.
This has always been the issue. Deebo is a great player but he has no business being on this team. When they signed him after the beam team year, he literally didn’t fill a single need for the team. Local media tried to sell it as they needed another scorer to help Fox close out games, right after Fox won clutch player of the year… The team had a great, fast paced offense but self disclosed they needed more defense so they sign a guy who plays half court offense and not much defense. I feel like this was the first big move in a few years where the little chap was meddling again and it’s been a bunch of bad moves ever since.
Agree, this move of trading for DdR has the dismissive lite chap ‘s dna all over it .
The local media didn’t have to sell it. Most kings fans, including here on TKH, swallowed it whole, and got angry at the national media for questioning DDR’s fit, shouting that talent trumps fit.
All of a sudden I want to see Deebo and Lavine playing in a Kings uniform the rest of this season. TANK
As long as Russ is running the show, chucking up 3’s, the tank is in good hands. This team would be much more watchable with Nique/Carter sharing the PG duties, instead of watching Russ padding his stats on his way up the all time scoring lists.
I agree.WestbrooK is more to blame as DDR or LaVine. You watch his defense. WHAT DEFNSE. He gets blown by always. To bad Doug can’t not play them. Just watch the younger guys play. I don’t know if Perry is the right choice as GM. Other than a small trade for Hunter he hasn’t done anything. We could of have a pretty good trade Sabonis to the Wizards but Davis took that away. Go figure.
Doug could have sat them a long time ago, but he lacked the guts to do so.
Stat sheet says attendance was 15,000+ but that’s not what it looked like on camera last night.
Does that include season ticket holders that did not attend? Is it the amount of people that walked through the entrances?
At this point, I don’t see why any Kings fan would choose to spend an evening at G1C.
Nope.
The tens of fans shoed up

Wolves just traded Dillingham for Ayo Dosunmu. Guess Monk or Russ ain’t going to Minnesota. Kings…

Yup. Good move by the Wolves. Ayo is having a good season and they now his Bird Rights to go into the tax to keep him.
The well is drying up for Perry, just like it did for Monte, Vlade, and Pete. Same trend through 4 GMs. Hmmmm, wonder why that is.
Here’s hoping a blockbuster Giannis trade is something the Kings get apart of.
