Swipa—> Ja
Let’s Go Kings
They really feel amazingly equal at this point, which is truly a testament to the jump Fox has made this season
Ja is playing and that’s ok..makes us even more legit
why Is bane out
Broken toe I think
Sprained toe.
Details, details.
Indubitably. They are boring no doubt.
Attack Ja early and test that ankle
Heurter
Not shooting so hot so far
Where’s the time out
Where’s the defense?
Their defense is their offense. Hope their shooting settles in and they can weather the storm until then
Refs giving early Thanksgiving Day gifts to Ja.
Well they’re creating good looks pretty routinely, just not hitting them so far
Grizzlies letting the Kings shoot and so far it’s been a good strategy
Rough start for Barnes
and now he’s finishing the quarter strong
Come on Barnes!
Well played by HB
So far looks like a good game between two playoff-caliber teams
Adams checks out, feed sabonis
Kayte sounds sick…not that it’s slowing her down much. ????
I have the Grizzlies feed, they were too much so its on mute now
So do I. It’s Grizz slanted from a broadcast standpoint, but it doesn’t bother me much. Kayte is too much for me most of the time. I don’t mind the opposing broadcasts much over having to listen to her alot of the time.
I usually have the sound low anyway. The arena atmosphere and music bugs me.
I hear that.
NBA arenas are living proof that extroverts run the world …or at least the US.
Yeah her voice sounds a bit raspy
Whenever she slows down Kyle is all too happy to keep the flow going……nonstop
Credit to everyone who knew David Roddy was an NBA player during the draft. I was not a believer.
Grizzlies with 14 of their 28 points in the paint already. This team won’t truly take that next step until they can find a way to add a rim protector to this roster
Perimeter defense just seems to let the offensive player walk in to the paint
Nice pass by Davion
Was that taunting or was Jackson making sure Fox was ok after he fouled him?
At first glance it looked like a ‘you good?’ to me
Same here.
Well…..
Lol.
Might not be a Metu night. The stage looks too big for him
Maybe time for Holmes?
He’s trying to be what we need. The problem is…he just isn’t.
On the other hand, before the season started, did anyone really think that we were one player away from being a 50 win team? It certainly feels like it at this point. Question is, how do we find a rim protector without affecting the chemistry of this group?
Really hope Monte can work a trade at some point to get an upgrade at the backup 5 spot. Holmes SHOULD be that guy but he just doesn’t look like a good fit with this offense
Metu needs to step it up and the Kings need to try to be a little less fancy with their offense.
With a couple tweaks, this Grizzlies roster may have the defensive potential of last year’s Celtics squad. So much interchangeable length, strength, and commitment on that end. This is an incredibly well constructed team.
Between these two coaches, we may be here all night
This Memphis crowd is quiet as hell
Forget Bagley over Luka. Bagley over JJJ????
JJJ would be so perfect with this roster too. Sigh
Was just sitting here and thinking exactly the same thing.
That happens all the time here. I wish I was the guy who thought of it first
He’s the made-in-a-lab 4 to play next to Sabonis
Richie provided a lot of excellent stats and arguments leading up to that draft that the Kings should have drafted JJJ.
That Jaren Jackson, Jr. guy is pretty good. We should try to stop him.
Memphis going for 70+ in the paint today
30 to 24 paint points advantage Memphis now. It’s starting to tilt even.
Kings look overmatched physically/athletically, yet they’re tied. Been a running theme of the season – staying in games when they’re not playing their best.
What a dime from Monk on that Huerter 3
3 bad calls now that have hurt Kings.
Ja’s like Foxe’s mirror image
Kings are getting mugged by the refs. Again.
Huerter for 3
I’m at the point where any time Huerter misses a 3 I’m genuinely surprised
Caw caw caw
Such BS
That rip through crap needs to go.
Like the aggression from Keegan – even if the shot didn’t go.
So teams can beat the living shit out of the Kings and that’s fine, but “bait” fouls? Oh yes, let’s be sure to call EVERY SINGLE ONE of those.
Ugh….
Foxe’s shooting continues to blow me away. Last year I always felt when he shot and it went in it was a lucky shot. He’s shooting more from the right side and that short mid range bunny just looks like money every time he shoots
He’s altered the arc slightly, too. One of the things that drove me nuts about his shot from Year 1 was how flat it was. That’s almost completely gone from his game at this point.
Refs have been awful but I think we can overcome.
De’Aaron Fox last year would’ve driven that ball 100 mph to the basket thru contact and hoped for a foul.
This year’s Fox slows down the pace, runs the 3-1 break with the team, keeps his head up looking to pass until the last second when Adams is forced to choose a man, and he coolly knocks down the open 10 footer. That’s IQ.
Gotta hit your FT’s!
Missing 3 out 4 FTs before the end of the half
# pt shooting stats have totally flipped
3 pt
Goes without saying but Fox doesn’t get that call that Ja got just now on that drive against Sabonis
Bane out for load management, lameeeeee
He has a toe injury
Which is why he is “lameeeeee”!
Your right, hes actually been out a ton of games so far, that’s unfortunate
Kings are a slightly better team than the Grizz. That’s a pleasant surprise.
IMO that’s an overstatement. With my overly sceptical POV I’d say the Kings are closer to Memphis level is a surprisingly good development
Not really, Bane had been balling out this year. Plus he would’ve scored like 40 on us and we’d be down by 10 at the half
I still think the Grizz are slightly better (or at least, more complete), but they played a terrible second quarter. After Mike Brown’s timeout 90 seconds in, that might have been the best non-last 3 minutes of the 4th quarter defense that the Kings have played all season.
And that’s where defense is going to matter for this team. They’re a player (maybe 2) away from being squarely in the top third of the Western Conference, but they can make up much of that deficit against more talented teams with staunch, consistent defense.
I’ll feel like that’s what we’ve seen tonight in the first half.
That was the first time in the game and a half that they’ve played each other this season that the Kings held them to fewer than 30 pts in a quarter and the first time they scored more than 30 in a quarter against them.
Disagreement is cool. I’m just looking forward to how the Kings play against a team that is actually better than them, like Boston.
I think we’re both just happy to see the Kings hang with every team they play – including a very talented Memphis team. ????
Brown or somebody needs to light a fire under Keegan Murray’s ass. He has lost his aggression and is literally invisible out there.
Murray went from confident to looking somewhat lost in a matter of weeks. I know he has a family issues going on, but man it’s rough.
As a huge Murray fan I think it might be good for him to come if bench again until he get swagger back… he is 4th option and think he is stressing to much about missing vs just playing.. if he was 1st it 2nd option he knows he will be ok if he misses… not worried long term about him at all
Feels more like a rookie adjusting to the NBA than the family issues at this point.
Agree
Yep.
It gets overlooked, too, that he picked up basketball late. This is the first time he’s ever had to make an adjustment like this.
But he’s too smart, too collected, and too talented not to figure it out.
It’s a long season. We’re doing fine without him right now, but ultimately we’ll need him. And when we do, I have no doub’t that he’ll be ready.
Excellent points Noda. I agree.
Oh my God, what the hell are the Jazz wearing tonight? Looks like they raided a bunch of CalTrans lockers for snow chain safety vests.
My theory is that their Jerseys are gonna be worn by younger fans and in the snow, ice, fog and rain they thought if they went with roadworker colors there would be less chance of the kids being hit by a car as they jaywalked……or something
????
good half, but Keegan Murray still playing like this?
I don’t blame Keegan for not taking that charge
Ugly start.
Sabonis bro, what the hell. Twins towers and you don’t jump very high. Forcing it.
Kings missing their chance to build on that lead to open the 3rd
This dude in the Grizzlies arena doing the stuff during timeouts is wild. Helmet hair. Fake tan
Sweet trey by Fox
4 chances! Rebound!
somehow didn’t cost the Kings
JJJ blocking everything this quarter. He has 3 fouls…need to find a way to get him his 4th quickly
He’s supposed to be on a minutes restriction, thank goodness. Hopefully they hold to that.
Fox man
Barnes just knows when it’s time to drive to the bucket and get a foul. It settles the team down, gets them a good scoring opportunity, and sucks the air out of the arena.
Beautiful defense leading to an easy Fox bucket on that last sequence.
Need to get Keegan cutting and not just relegated to corner duty.
Yeah, these last few games I just don’t understand why they’re (I’m assuming it’s by design) are just planting him out there.
Ugly game for Keegan on both ends
What in the world has happened to his soft touch?
Overthinking will take you out of your natural flow and rhythm in a hurry.
Those rip through fouls are bull shit
Yup
And another bait foul….sigh.
Huerter has a nose for the rebound. More times than not he’s in the right place
Murray having a very rough game
Ja’s an artist
Ja is clearly benefiting from preferential calls
Shot got blocked and he looked defeated. He needs an easy look to drop
He’s getting schooled a lot
Ja gets the GD calls Fox should get.
Here we go with the tickey tack fouls. Such crap.
Every game is rigged against the kings
If Ja is going to keep drawing ticky-tack fouls, might as well make the foul worth it and get physical with him, hammer him a bit.
Bench hasn’t been very productive tonight
For the first time this season, Kings D keeping them in this game.
They’re doing a good job disrupting passing lanes and generating a ton of steals.
What about a Santi Aldama trade?
This might be the ugliest quarter of basketball I have seen in a long time
What Trey is doing on D is everything you don’t get from Metu
Grizz getting run off their own floor. Can you find one that doesn’t look worn out?
I love Malik Monk
TD with a nice steal from Ja.
TD either hitting all his 3’s or hitting none lol
Hopefully the Kings are saving all their open 3’s they hit for the 4th quarter after all these misses in the 3rd
Quite the brick-fest tonight …on both sides.
Nice pass from fox to Davion
It’s like Memphis doesn’t know who Davion is.
Fox is incredible
Fox shot is pure!
FOX!
First against Cleveland, now against Memphis, it’s fascinating to watch how the Kings attack and compete with teams that are bigger and/or more physical than them.
Shows how well-coached they are. It’s been my favorite part of the season so far.
Mine too.
Mr. CLUTCH
What the hell has gotten into Fox
For the first time in his career, he has players on the floor that complement his abilities, and he has a coach that has set expectations for him even higher – and he’s meeting them.
Just a young man coming into his own with the help of the best coach he’s ever had
That 2nd unit did great when they were getting to the rim. Out run these dudes and tire them out
Taking charges making back cuts. This is what wins games. Teamwork
Kings winning the 2nd and 3rd quarters. You know Memphis has another big run in them in the 4th. Kings just gotta make sure they punch back again
Does the Grizzlies mascot look like a wolf more than it does like a bear? Or is it some hybrid bear inhavent seen before?
Born in a beaker in South San Francisco
Fox the only one hitting 3’s for the Kings
Fox is so chill. I knew it was going in and I may have never thought that before
Don’t like seeing Fox grimacing
Coach was livid about the defensive effort the past two games.
Games that were wins.
The Kings are responding (so far) with the best defensive game they’ve played all season.
The coach expects more – even after a win. And the club is responding to him.
Things are truly changing for your hometown Kings.
That is definitely different
Damn Keegan….
It’s got to be a mental block
I can’t believe I’m saying this after 5 years of Buddy Hield, but at this point, I want Keegan to shoot his way out of this. Just keep firing until they start going down again.
He’s just having a bad shooting night. That’s all it really is.
He is, but there’s some hesitation in his whole game right now too. More than anything, I want to see him find that nice, easy flow again.
Damn, Keegan can’t buy a bucket tonight. Plenty of open looks
Yeah, it is rough to see
Need to keep moving the ball and get to the rim since those 3s aren’t dropping.
I feel like Keegan needs a 19/7/3 game going 3/5 from 3 and it’ll get him back on track.
Didn’t he pretty much have that a few games ago? Thought that was him finally getting back on track but it’s been pretty rough again since. He did/does have that back injury though
Run off the floor.
No Bane is so huge with how badly the Kings have been from 3PT today.
The Griz aren’t doing any better
You hit the dance halls with the date that brings you.
There was no way that wasn’t a foul. Domas was clobbered
Sabonis about to have the quietest triple-double in history.
Double and triple teamed triple-double
Fucking HB what a shot
There’s that beautiful ball movement again!!
Huge three by HB
That shot ripped right through the crowd
I was not sure about this game going into tonight, but this is great to see.
Caw caw
ball movement and using up the whole shot clock getting an open 3. Nice!
The ball movement!
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Brown is is out-coaching Griz coach.
Rec.
He is having a great night with the rotations and the time outs to reset the D mentality.
That was a weak foul against Ja
Here comes that Memphis run.
Here comes the test…
Adams just stand and grabs boards over Sabonis while he is jumping
HB….extend him
Barnes and Fox the only ones hitting threes?
According to the Grizz sportscasters, the pressure is now on the Kings lol
Kings hate shooting technical FT’s
Grizz surprisingly unraveling a bit here.
Griz coach can walk onto court to three point line during Fox free throw?
After Coach threw Monk into the corner to set him up for an open three last week, I can’t complain about that one. ????
Lucky ass shot
If it wasn’t so fun to watch, I’d say ballgame and turn off the TV, back in the days when I actually owned one.
Hella a shot by Ja
Ugh…that was a killer 3 by Morant.
Love those bunnies
What did Barnes do on that screen???
That was a garbage call
Barnes rebound, Fox transition bucket, and a stop on defense just blunted all momentum.
Until Ja picked Huerter’s pocket.
Nvm
Morant gets too many star calls, it’s ridiculous
He’s a star….no surprise he’s getting the calls
Damn
Kings need to wake up.
Get the ball to Fox
Good lord….
Dammit.
Time to unravel
My only beef with Monk – he can get a little over juiced at times.
Huerter hasn’t attempted a shot in a long time
Not a great shooting night
Just like that, one possession game
Terrible shot.
Wow. Grizzlies defensive pressure just absolutely got the Kings in shambles
Refs swallowing their whistle helping too. Letting Memphis get away with a ton of grabbing
This.
Three Griz pounding on HB on the Kings last possession. Just hacking on him. Those kind of calls tend to even out but this game was not very well controlled by the refs.
Morant missed two critical free throws on last two trips to the line for him.
WHAT IS HAPPENING!
WTF
Fucking collapse
Great save by Huerter
Gotta overcome meltdown. 1 more minute
As soon as Ja leaves his feet he’s getting the call regardless. WTF man
Fox deserves Ja calls.
JFC…all Memphis has to do is keep feeding Ja, and the the refs will blow their whistles regardless.
Big miss by Ja
The calls Ja gets. Smdh
Fox wake the fuck up bro!
I love Harrison Barnes!
Wonder if a Kings player could have jawed at the refs like Brooks did just now and not get a T.
Not a chance
Better team won. GG
Am I on that much of a delay? I’ve still got 40 seconds to go.
me too not over yet
If the Grizz can come back from this, then they’re the better team.
Better team did win. LIGHT THE BEAM!!!
Smart foul by Domas
Good foul
Fox WTF
SO MANY TURNOVERS
It’s nut cutting time
Fox is out of his fucking mind.
Fox melting down
Stupid turnovers keep giving Memphis life
Ball movement. Crazy Ball movement
Just let Ja have the bucket. Don’t even defend it. Guaranteed bucket plus the foul call otherwise.
Monk cool as a cucumber
Please survive
He should’ve intentionally missed
The second free throw
No, not even remotely consider doing that.
The right call is exactly what that 93% FT shooter did on that play. Make the FT and let the Kings set up their D while increasing the pressure on the Griz.
Fuck
Ja really gets all the calls
See?
Just let Ja shoot. Don’t get anywhere near him. Refs love to blow those GD whistles for him.
BULL SHIT CALL
The angle I saw Morant went up, shot, and as he is coming down along with Fox coming down Morant puts his hand on foxes left hip and falls over to “draw” the foul. I am going back now to rewind the game and watch closer.
Wut?
Ja our savior
Does Fed Ex Forum have a purple laser to light?
One inbound and we win.
No shot for Fox? WTF?
The refs are full on Ja Bootlickers
What a game
Quick load up the plane and lets get the hell out of here!
Ugly, ugly win. But maybe their best one of the season so far.
Phew! Was not pretty at the end but this is what they need to experience against these types of teams and build off that.
Better team won. GG
This win already makes the road trip a huge success imo. We’ll come out of the Suns game above .500 at the very least. Awesome news.
YEah I was really hoping they’d at least pull this one out, especially knowing Bane was out and, up until a few hours before game time, Ja was iffy to play.
Yep. Hot teams eventually cool off, and with the win streak up against this tough trip, I was really worried about going 0-3. I can live with a 1-2 trip, would love a 2-1 trip, and I won’t even let myself dare to dream about a 3-0 trip.
whew
Another step up for the Kings. This was fun.
I was thinking the last 5 minutes was more like torture
Think of it this way. Against a team that was supposed to be better than the Kings, the Kings were able to totally melt down in the last five minutes and still win by four.
Good point, but it was still torture.
Yakshi you are absolutely right. It was torture because I was having trouble breathing the last couple of minutes. Good game, great win.
Light the beam!
Light that beam!
Nerve racking one tonight.
If the kings were wearing masks they would still get called for sneezing on Ja… That was pathetic by the refs officiating him.
Damn. That was a a frustrating game on so many levels. But gutsy win.
The ending was bad and it obscured how much better over the game the Kings were, I thought.
I guess I didn’t find much about the game that frustrating except for some of the gifts Ja Morant got and the way the Kings handled the physical traps. It’s a learning lesson. At least the Kings did win.
7!!!!!! Light the effin beam!!!!
When you are a Sacramento Kings fan all wins are beautiful albeit nerve wracking.
Wow! This team is really legit.
We get a win, and coach gets another talking point to teach and coach this team to improve on (meltdown from full court pressure in the last three minutes.)
Win win!
There was a two minute +/- when the kings just lost it
MY game ball is going to HB
Mine too!
Sabonis nearly triple double=game ball
My nerf game ball is going to TD. It rightly should go to Kevin Huerter but TD came in for 3 minutes and got the mo going back our way
Domas getting beat up on a nightly basis, but my guess is that he’ll take it to finally be on a winning team. Impressive stat line tonight despite the pounding he took.
I may need a new username after 5+ years (including the site that shall not be named). Consider me a beamie baby
Was on a plane watching and we took off with kings up 104-97..could not get online to see end of it. Was nervous when Morant hit 30 foot 3 as shot clock expired.. how tricky tack were the morant calls at end of game? As bad as game thread made it seem
Worse.
I don’t blame Ja. He’s a smart player taking advantage of the rule book. But the league has to do something about the way those kinds of plays are called.
I did see a couple of those swipe throughs to draw a foul that are frustrating as hell..
thanks
See Houston’s comment below. On the 3-pointer where Fox was called for the foul, Ja put his hand on Fox’s hip as he was coming down, then rolled onto the floor.
While I hate the ticky tack fouls as much as anyone it’s stuff like the above and the breakthroughs that have got to stop. That’s integrity of the game type of stuff.
Keegs stat line looks like he’s dragging down the team. Need him to recover quick. This is way too early to be hitting a rookie wall.
He’s got the rest of the season to improve. He is looking lost out there right now. He’ll get better but not starting him right now might be the best thing for him and the team
I’m glad we have a trustworthy coach to make these kinds of decisions. Agreed, a lot of season left for him to figure things out.
Disagree. Keeg is part of the first team throughout training camp. Let them gel. Don’t take the man’s job because he’s dealing with some family stuff. Support him! Who can match us when Keeg quietly gets 20 points a night?
It’s a fair point you raise, but his shot is just not falling, he had good looks for the overwhelming part of his minutes and two of his five 3 pointers were in and out. Unlucky.
But, to your point, he is a little tentative isn’t he. Slight hesitations where he is changing his mind or passing up a shot. I hope he gets a chance to play through it and Coach Brown designs a few opening plays to get him started, sort of what they did for Harrison a few games ago.
What A Game.
Thanks for the details, HJP. I didn’t see the game so I’m just going off of box score. I like your idea about coach setting up plays specifically for him. That could raise his confidence, and hopefully his level of play, quit a bit.
Go to UTube for the replays tomorrow you will enjoy the ending. It was a good game by Kings until they started throwing the ball away in the last three minutes.
Will do! I checked the score with just under 3 minutes to go. They were up by 11 and I just knew things were gonna start to go south. I was hoping the lead was big enough for them to stave off the Griz, and it looks like it was.
Set plays is not Keegan’s game. Go back and watch Cal Classic and Summer League. Dude is all about being in the flow of the game.
Let the rook be a rook while winning games! When he comes into his own, who will be able to keep up with us?
Light the Beam!
LMAO
