The Kings are 4-6 in their last 10 games, the best record over the last 10 games of any team projected to select top-10 in the draft this year. It’s almost like every other team in a similar position got the memo that losing in the best outcome here, and the Kings totally missed it. Unfortunately there is another game tonight.
Who: Sacramento Kings (21-57) vs. Los Angeles Clippers (39-38)
Where: Golden 1 Center, Sacramento, CA
When: 6:00 PM PT / 9:00 PM ET
Watch: NBCSCA / League Pass
You know what isn’t fun? Feeling like you can’t root for the young Kings because the old Kings already put the tank in a precarious position the game prior. Without the veteran-led win in Toronto, the Nique Clifford, Maxime Raynaud led win vs. the Pelicans at home just feels better. Instead, those two straight victories tied the Kings with the Jazz at 21-57, likely pushing the Kings down to 5th in the draft lottery because Utah is far more committed to the tank than Sacramento is.
Whatever. I’m tired of talking about all the dumb ways the Kings played their hand down the stretch. It may not bite them at the end, but it most certainly could.
At least the Clippers should be able to take them out tonight, right? Right?
Prediction: Kings 118, Clippers 102.

4 games left and this shit season will be over. Can’t come soon enough.
Just a bunch of idiots. Why vets are playing at all the last few weeks is beyond me.
Wiz and Nets are playing today. Only 18 players are dressing for both teams combined. None of the dressed players are considered starters for either team.
Some of today’s players I truly believe and NBA2K created names. They include:
Leaky Black
Jamir Watkins
Julian Reese
Jalen Wilson
Chaney Johnson
Trevon Scott
Tyson Etienne
Malachai Smith
I really only follow basketball as a professional sport, and I like to think I have more of a pulse on the league than the casual fan, but I have never heard of any of those guys.
These teams know how to tank, the Kangz just bring the stank.
I mean….. everyone knows how to tank and the importance except fucking Vivek, Doug and the Kings.
Vivek has spent his entire tenure tearing down and destroying the Kings because he’s so fucking stupid. Ego dumb.
And it still makes me mad. I’m not sure there is any hope. Unless they luck out.
But as I’ve previously stated, not tanking this year is the worst thing Vivek has done (arguably) in his tenure. There’s exactly zero reason to not tank.
Fuck this owner.
At this point I’ve accepted the fact that this team has willingly squandered the chance for a top 3 draft pick. They knew(?) the consequences of picking up completely meaningless wins and they went and got them anyway. Just gotta believe at this point that the team really isn’t interested in building a winning product. What it is that they want isn’t really clear to me (and maybe not to them either).
Yeah, I’ve kinda just stopped being mad at this point and it’s more of an eyeroll, because squandering your chances at a top 3 pick in a good draft before the NBA possibly puts in “tanking rules” is just so laughably on-brand for Vivek’s Kangz. All it needs is for Zach Lavine to be re-signed to a contract extension and Doug being kept as head coach for the cherry on top to be complete.
Yup. I will continue to root for Vivek to leave but barely paying attention to Kings. This was like having Dan Snyder as a Washington fan.
If only this shit owner would get driving out.
The one thing that makes me
mad is Vivek taking this team- that we saved- not him and turning it to shit. Shitting on the fans all for his ego and money. That, I don’t forgive.
Squandered- that should be the title of Vivek’s tenure.
Squandered- a good coach in Mike Malone. A chance to have Jerry West advise (Vivek didn’t think he meeddd it)- a chance at competency hiring Vlade and bringing him back—Traded Haliburton. Not Fox and then traded Fox for nothing after letting him take the fall for Brown firing
Squandered- Beam team by tradind Fox and being in Levine and DDR. Not drafting Luca. And then not trading pick or selecting anyone but Bagley.
Firing Jeoger. Hiring Doug. Etc etc etc.
Once again we’ve sidetracked the tank
And set back our lottery rank.
The Clippers are here,
And one thing is clear—
Vivek is the source of our stank!
+1 Who nose?!
When the horn sounds on game 82 of this crappy team and season joy will temporarily reign !
Yup, until May 10, when either the real rage will set in, or some people will crow about the good karma of “ethical tanking”, or we’ll try to convince ourselves that franchise altering players can be had outside the top 5.
And I don’t know if any of it’s going to matter. Getting another good player would help but they are so far away from good. It’s ridiculous.
I watched them last night and they don’t have any good players except Keegan. Sabonis is good, but they don’t use his talent so it’s a waste.
As for the rookies, once again, Scott Perry shows his propensity to draft players that can’t shoot well. Clifford has a long way to go to become a consistent three-point shooter and if he isn’t, he’s not really that good.
And Maxine, oh my God, is he horrible on defense. Half the time he doesn’t know where to be and when he does, he like half jogs on closeouts.
Now these guys may get better, but the kings are bereft of talent, coaching, development, and ownership.
I just don’t see how they get out of this until the owner is gone or backs off.
Yeah, I like certain things I see in the rookies, but I think rotational players at best. Kind of like Jason Thompson, Michael “The Animal” Smith. Players we root for but are lower echelon leaguewide. I’m hopeful and they are likeable.
But, yeah, Vivek has to go.
Yeah i really think cardwell is the most useable rookie on a good ish team. At least he can play great defense and be a rim runner lob threat
At best Cardwell is an end of bench player on a decent team and wouldn’t make a roster on any contending team. I hope no one is placing our hopes in him.
Oh come on Kayte and Kyle, DDR maybe hasn’t slowed down on offense but he’s a traffic cone on defense and that’s one of the big reasons why the Kings can’t win. And he’s not hunting number either! Give me an f-ing break.
Well, it was only about 30 games too late but it appears dumbdumb Doug finally put the clamp on DDR’s minutes and let the kids play. DDR only had 10 minutes of burn. Result was a predictable blowout loss. Am I right in crediting Doug for limiting DDR minutes or did he get injured?
DDR started out red hot and scored 9 of the Kings first 11 points, and then Doug decides sits him. Too little too late in terms of lottery positioning. That should have been happening a month ago.
Christie isn’t dumb. He’s been dealt a bad hand. The Kings have been through a dozen coaches and nothing changes. It’s the roster and nothing else that counts.
“With the seventh pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, The Suckrifical Kings select…”
…it doesn’t matter who they select. They will find a way to pick a guy who will be somewhere between mediocre and out of the league in 5 years.
It’s just what they do.
Didn’t the Kings sign Patrick Baldwin Jr and DaQuan Jeffries to contracts because of all the injuries and needing enough players to suit up?
Now I see both are leading the Stockton Kings to the G-League championship?
Seems a bit backwards to sign older, young players to fill in; but instead use them to try to bring relevance by hunting a championship in a lesser league.
This ownership will be defined by its consistent focus on the wrong priorities.
Let Vivek and Fisher go hand-in-hand to Vegas. Give us an expansion team.
That works for me.
Can we get an investment group that could handle the expansion fee though?
A California investor/investor group would be best. They needn’t be a Sacramento Valley resident. If they add teams in Seattle and Las Vegas, then maybe you expand that to West Coast investor. The biggest risks? San Diego, I suppose. It would be the responsibility of the NBA to ironclad a No Move agreement for some period of time.
A whole new franchise: new name, new colors and expansion draft players. Still have the Golden1 Center.
Just No Vivek. No Matina.
That would get me to return as a season ticket buyer.
Las Vegas can have Fisher, Vivek and Davis and hope they can be as good as the Aces and the Golden Knights.
We need Mike Teel of Raley’s to lead an investment group.
In this new wonderful timeline, what should we name the new Sac team? Something relative to the region? Sacramento Granite, as a nod to the Sierra Nevadas? Sacramento Spikes, as a nod the railroad history? Sacramento Senators? Sacrametno Sturgeon?
The Sacramento Express – like the pony express
Well, if they have Vivek move to LV then they become the Las Vegas Kings.
You could be the Sacramento No Kings, but barring that, and staying very regional:
The Sacramento
Nuts (Sac Nuts is pretty good)
Wildfire (a bit harsh, but still)
Steelheads
Gold
Condors (state bird)
Poppies (state flower)
Garibaldi (state fish)
Trees (City of Trees, could be Oaks, could be Redwoods)
I like this one best, all be told.
Sacramento Rites
Sacramento Tracks
Sacramento Iron Horse
Sacramento Gold Rush
Sacramento Cabooses
Truly the best idea and outcome for everyone.
Vivek would still have his money and access to even more B-list celebrities.
Sac would get a fresh start.
This idea is the only thing that makes me smile if I think about the Kings.
You want an investment group that looks at the expansion fee as pocket change, otherwise we get a different version of the Maloofs, and Vivek.
I’m on board with this, and B-list celebrities would be infinitely easier for Vivek to hang out with in Vegas than here. At this point, I’m in favor of them moving with no promise of an expansion team at all. I’m good for the city to take its chances. If the Kings don’t get a superstar this season, they might never be competitive again.
The 5 foot 6 inch professional bandwagon regurgitater strikes again gaining 7 thumbs up. His day is complete now.
Michael Malone to Head Coach at UNC
From former employer Dismissive Chap to current employer Chapel Hill.
Oh great! What is the chance that any highly regarded prospect will want to be drafted (or even evaluated) by Vivek’s Sacramento Kings.
(from No Class, No Balls to Go To Class, Let’s ball)
Should the Kings remain in the top 5 for the draft, it will be interesting to see who comes in for workouts, or who snubs them all together.
This is the one time I hope the lottery is rigged. Adam Silver deciding to punish the Bucks, Jazz, etc. for tanking and reward the Kings for sucking but trying would be fantastic.
Though, if it really was rigged, it would probably end up like this:
Pacers 1, Warriors 2, Chicago 3…
