Brown is gonna try his damndest but it’s really gonna be hard for this team to be good defensively with this roster construction. Just way too many poor defenders on the team to overcome deficiencies.
I’ve thought the scheme has worked well. Clips have hit shots, but most of them have come with a hand in the face.
The team is still a work in progress, with more personnel moves necessary.

Wow….watched Keegan get blown past on a play early in the 2nd for an easy bucket. Mike Brown called a TO and instantly went into coaching mode.
Clips just tried the same thing again, and you could see Murray clearly make the adjustment. He still wasn’t quite in the right position at fouled at the last moment, but he made about an 80% correction on a single repetition in real time. Really, really, impressive.

There are going to be games where Mike Brown blows through all his timeouts WAY too early, and it’ll probably cost the team a game at some point.
But it’s still the right call.
Perhaps more than any other coach in the NBA right now, he has to COACH this team live, in real-time. It’s the only way to change 16 years of ingrained culture. And that’s going to mean breaking habits, breaking patterns, by any means possible.
It’ll look like a bad move in the moment, but in the long term, it’s going to pay off.
You make the investment to make adjustments early in the game and that is the difference between a close game or a blowout by the time the 4th quarter rolls around.
It’s also true that as Brown burns those timeout’s early, when the automatic TO’s come later on, the other team has to take those.
With this teams “potential” largely unrealized I have no problem with his time outs I have no problem at all with him coaching and teaching during the game. We are going to lose a shitload of games anyway.

Through two games, it looks like he made the steal of the draft (Murray), and the steal of the summer trade season (Huerter). I mean, as a team, they’ve played really poorly overall through 2 games, and they led with 3 minutes to go against the Blazers, and they’re leading here at the half.
The first month or two may not look great, but the pieces are here. Once everyone figures out their role, and fully understands Brown’s defense, they’re going to be in good shape.

He was a tiny 5’8″ pg all through 10th grade and shot up at the end of high school and got thrown on the wing. He’s always had the handle though.

Kings need as many supporters as possible. For some reason Gallo has outsize mojo. Even if he’s only right about 38 % of the time he always likes our chances. There have been games when during KANGZ if he didn’t have the first post I didn’t even turn on the game……..So yeah, I still hold him responsible for our first loss.

Gotta keep telling myself – Huerter and Murray aren’t going to shoot 80% all season…and Monk isn’t going to keep shooting 20%.

I have never said that Davion is the savior of this team. I do believe that he has much more to contribute than he has so far. Last part of last season he looked very good. I’m not a big Fox supporter and IMO whatever it was….13 games to end the season he played very well. I think/know you’re wrong….but shit I’ve been wrong before. The next 2 seasons will tell. Maybe I should just smack you with my cane so I don’t have to run. I always read your stuff satdawg and by the end of the season I’m wrong I’ll tell you. Turns out, Monte building a team around a lot of bad defensive players is….bad defensively. Huerter trade and Murray picks were great though.

Keegan looks great, Fox is working hard to do what Brown says, but Sabonis still looks bad and Barnes is terrible. The team will slowly get better even if the wins and losses may not reflect it.

Domas is an undersized 5 to begin with and now that he lost all that weight, he’s getting bullied by bigger 5’s. Decent offensive player but if he’s a hiring your paint defense, you’re in trouble. Kings need a rig protector in a bad way. Teams no that if they get by the first line of defense, it’s a layup line.
The backcourt (first line) is solid. Nothing else in the NBA to compare it to.
