Why are we so bad at challenging calls?
Mike challenges off emotion most of the time and refs usually aren’t looking to overturn calls unless it’s very obvious. Fox didn’t foul Porzingis on that play, but since his arm was wrapped around KP’s arm and it was ruled a foul, they simply weren’t gonna overturn that.
Zinger first grabbed Fox’s jersey. The commentators were saying “yeah, this one is probably coming back”. It was a horrible call, especially in the context of the non call on the other end
Challenging calls has been the absolute worst thing about the Kings this season.

You just knew after they missed 41 3PT last night that the Celtics would be hitting them all tonight. Of course, Kings defense has been putrid and is allowing them to get a ton of wide open looks. Getting abused on the boards. Can’t just be looking to Domas to get all of them

Yikes man. I know the Celtics are better on top of also being a nightmare matchup for this roster, but if there was ANY time for them to steal a game vs the likes of them, it was tonight. No Tatum or Horford, SEGABABA for Boston and Kings playing at home and they’re still getting blown out.
There may be something to be learned from this blowout loss. They were able to evade it for the majority of the first half. Something happened toward the end of the first half that allowed the game to get away. If they can figure out what that was maybe they can avoid future blowouts.
Terrible defense + refs on crack
Not saying the officiating is good, but I think it has more to do with the terrible defense.
Outright embarassing. Giving up 96 points with 7 minutes left in the 3rd with no Tatum, no Horford, on a segababa is inexcusable.
No other way to put it. We may have been able to scheme our way into a Top 20 defense, but it feels like that is the ceiling with this personnel. Sabonis is an average defender, Barnes, Huerter, Monk, and Sasha all well below average. We need 2-3 guys that are going to be able to bring length and physicality to the defense while also not being total zeroes on offense ala Keon, Kessler, Davion, etc.
Feel like Sasha’s help defense is pretty solid, but yes, the issues with the team remain the same as last year, which isn’t surprising since it’s essentially the same roster. Didn’t have an issue with Monte opting for continuity with this group, but it’s clear that they need some changes to become a team that takes it to that next level into legit contender.
This has been evident for awhile. You can’t have Sabonis, Barnes and Huerter on the floor at the same time. Good teams are going to punish the Kings for it. Brown is already giving Keon more minutes, that should continue. Perhaps, time to try Kessler Edwards, too. Huerter should be traded, but hard to know the market for him. Maybe a team could use him off the bench.

Not sure how Mike Brown-coached team can be so allergic to defense.
Players are who they are. A good defensive coach can only do so much to improve players who are limited.

To the people that keep saying let the roster be or run it back, wake up. This team is not built for anything more than what it did last year, a first round exit or quick 2nd round exit. The Kings constantly get bullied this year and have 0 effort or fight vs the top competition. It’s pathetic and I’m tired of seeing it. With Barnes and Huerter in the starting lineup there is no chance to truly compete. McNair pull the trigger on a trade please. Wake up, before its too late.

It’s feast or famine with the Kings. Fox didn’t pace himself and get other involved enough. I love this team, but they are far from being good enough to make a splash in the playoffs.
