The rest of the Kings roster also had a bevy of ridiculous statlines: Tyreke Evans scored 22 points in 23 minutes on 10-11 shooting from the field, basically getting to the rim at will. Jason Thompson nearly had a triple-double with 14 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Isaiah Thomas had 10 points, Jimmer Fredette had 11, and Donté Greene had 8. Everyone who played for Sacramento scored. The Kings had 23 assists to just 8 turnovers (really 7 if you discount the silly traveling call on Cisco when the game was over) and shot 55.2% from the field.
The Bobcats had four players in double-digit scoring, with Kemba Walker, Byron Mullens and Derrick Brown each with 13. Walker had a double-double by equaling his career high in assists at 11. Crazily enough, the Bobcats had 28 assists on their 38 field goals, but they also had 21 turnovers.
There's not much to say or analyze about this game because the talent disparity between these two teams was just so great. The Bobcats made a bit of a run to start the 2nd half, but a quick timeout and the Kings regrouped and stepped on the throats as Tyreke Evans just took over. It was ridiculous how easily Evans got into the lane and right to the hoop, and he was vintage TyRoY Evans today.
It wasn't just Evans who got into the paint at will though, it was everyone on the Kings. Sacramento had a whopping 78 points in the paint, which I believe is a season-high. They also had 38 fastbreak points, mostly thanks to the sloppiness of the Bobcats. Charlotte also took forever to get their offense set up, having to force shots as the shotclock ran out numerous times.
Jimmer Fredette didn't have the best shooting night, going 5 of 13 and just 1 of 5 from three (he was robbed of one three thanks to a missed goaltending call), but I saw some things from Jimmer tonight that I really liked. He had an absolutely beautiful fastbreak layup where he headfaked a pass back to Donté Greene to get the defender off of him and then took it to the basket. He also had a couple layups where he used his left hand and protected the ball with his body, a la Beno. The floater came into play as well, and it's nice to see him using it more often. As was mentioned on the telecast, Jimmer has shown a lot of improvement over the course of this year, and I said this a few weeks back, but I think he could be a Most Improved Player candidate next year.
Tyler Honeycutt got some extended run tonight thanks to the blowout, and I liked his activity on the court. He's still very raw, but he seems to have a good feel for the game and his athleticism is incredible. It will be interesting to see how he develops. He could be very useful as a versatile off the bench energy wing.
