Kings Injury Updates: Trey Lyles out 3-4 weeks, DeMar DeRozan out at least one game

The hits just keep on coming.

The Sacramento Kings announced injury updates for Trey Lyles and DeMar DeRozan on Tuesday.

Trey Lyles has a Grade 1 right calf sprain and will be out for 3 to 4 weeks. This injury makes the Jae Crowder signing make a lot more sense, as Lyles was one of Sacramento’s only bench forwards.

DeMar DeRozan suffered lower back inflammation after the Thunder back, and will miss Wednesday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. There is no official timetable for DeRozan to return. It will probably be similar to before when he was a game-by-game decision based on how his back was feeling. DeRozan has had exceptional durability throughout his career, and missed just two games all of last season, but this will mark his fourth missed game this year.

The hits just keep coming for the Kings, who had just gotten back to full strength with the return of Malik Monk. Here’s wishing DeMar and Trey speedy recoveries.

I am Afraid, The DDR back issue will be all season. That’s the chance you take when you sign a 35 year old. Stop gap. Not a core piece.

If Demar misses a big chunk of the season that could be the final nail in the coffin for Monte. It would be a minor disaster if he now has chronic back issues and two more years left on the contract.

Monte will get until at least the end of next year and so will Brown, maybe even one year after that. Vivek is too scared to try and switch things up, dude has no idea what he’s doing That’s been clear from the beginning and is where all our problems start

The dismissive little chap too scared? I doubt that. Most rich people seem to have ego’s the size of Mark Eaton.

Demar, Huerter & Trey for Bogi, Hunter & Nance. Monk starts w/ Domas, Keegan, Keon & Fox. Bogie is the 6th man with Carter, Hunter, Nance….solid bench

Huerter, Lyles, C.Jones a first and second for Patrick Williams and Jalen Smith. The Bulls want to trade any and all. We get a starter who comes in off the bench. Great defense and can shoot the 3. Jalen Smith is 6’10” can rebound and protect the weak side rim which we really need. Can sub for Murray or backup Sabonis. Also shoots the 3. In order to get something you have to give up something. One first won’t hurt because we have 4 not counting Atlantes. Young and proven.

That’s a really good one too, without giving up DeMar. I like Demar’s game a lot and he seems like a pretty good dude, but honestly don’t think he’s a good fit or will be with this team. Maybe could talk them into some combo of 1st swap or 2nd rounder instead of losing the 1st. Just not too big on that in light of losing the 1st either this year or next, for the guy most of us don’t even want on the team now. Jalen Smith is really good, should’ve went after him if Monte was smart. Fairly solid producer in limited mins, 10/5/ close to 1 block, like 55-60 FG% and 40% on 3s. Only concern with him is he’s a bit injury prone. But yeah Jack, really like your idea.

Jae in the starting lineup in DD’s place, will probably start winning more. Good all around, fill the gaps guy like HB. I never had an issue w/ a Barnes who was more in his prime, like the ’22-23 season. But last season he definitely looked older, slower like he was losing it. Too many nights where he was a ghost on the court basically.

He just won player of the week in the Western Conference FYI but I’m still not mad they traded him. He was solid, unfortunately we didn’t upgrade.

yeah I did see that. Good for him honestly, but we all know he’s probably just going to go the next 10 gms and average 9-10 pts and 3 rbs haha. I wonder how he even won, just 22 and 8 over 3 games. No one in the west had a better week? I think he mainly won by default because Spurs had a 3-0 week, and Wemby was only there for 1 or 2 games not all 3. I just checked tonight, kinda back to his old self, 8 pts on 2-6 shooting with 6 boards. I mean I liked HB his first 3 or so seasons with the team. Just kind of wish we could’ve had prime Barnes (Mavs era) on this Kings team. A way better fit than DeRo.

Coach Brown: “DeMar, Have you seen the depth on this team? I’m gonna need you to play 40 minutes for that reason”

DeMar: “40 games this season? Shouldn’t be a problem, Coach”

Brown: “Uhhh, shoot…you misheard me”

DeMar: “Yeah, I can shoot more threes.”

Brown: “MONTEEEEEEE! GET ME CROWDER!!”

I knew the heavy minutes for the starters were going to catch up to them at some point. If Fox is out for an extended period of time, we’re pretty much done for.

Honestly, this is the season, if any, to have the injury bug pop up and finish in the bottom of the league. The draft is that good.

Pick is top 12 protected. We’ll finish 12th. Then the 13 team will jump us in the lottery.

Just preparing for the Kangziest outcome.

This is diabolical. /Respect.

For clarification of the Kevin Huerter Trade:
The Kings acquired Huerter on Friday in the trade that sent Maurice Harkless, Justin Holiday and a protected future first-round draft pick to the Hawks. The outgoing pick is top-14 protected in 2024, top-12 protected in 2025 and top-10 protected in 2026, sources told The Sacramento Bee. If the pick is not conveyed by 2026, the Hawks will instead receive Sacramento’s second-round picks in 2026 and 2027.

Maybe this is Vivek & Monte’s grand scheme. Punt these two complete seasons, just so they only have to forfeit two 2nds instead of a first, lol.

I think we have a very legitimate shot to finish quite a bit worse than 12th. 7th feels appropriate given our history.

Read King’s bleacher report today. Have the Kings winning 42 this year. With the schedule the way it is they are probably right or is it ” do they know”?

Can we just leave Lyles on the list and let him go on to his next adventure?

He has some trade value if it’s worth one or two others players together.

Wow jury still out for me on the Demar signing but Lyles is heading into Huerter territory with my doneness with him. Those two don’t bring much to the table except in a very limited role at this point, could take or leave them, we been waiting for too long for them to become good role players. These guys just don’t produce. If Lyles stays about the same I’d trade him or just get rid of him.

Yah, don’t know what’s up with him? If most of us remember, he struggled pretty badly down the stretch last year, most specifically the last 10 games. The bench was non existent without Malik like it is now, and a big reason we finished 6-9 in the last 15. Then he struggled a lot during the Olympics this summer also ( I know, I’m Canadian and was rooting for them to do better) Then this season so far he’s bad still, the old Trey is gone for good I guess….gone the way of HB?

I gotta be honest. STR/TKH might be the only reason I really care about basketball anymore, let alone our team. My entire sports Fandom consists of the Kangz, Raiderz, A’z, and Sharkz. SBN is/was my daily reading. The raiders site is insufferable now with all the bickering and ridiculousness with members. This site and community is top tier though in my opinion and keeps my beam lit with our circus we call a team.

I’d probably quit watching basketball all together before I quit coming here. The shakes are too good
