Former Sacramento Kings player, general manager and current advisor to the governor, Vlade Divac was hospitalized on Thursday after falling from a motorcycle and breaking his hip, doctors said Friday.
The 57 year old former center was in Montenegro on Thursday when the accident occurred, and after being rushed to a local hospital, it was discovered that Divac had fractured his hip – a fracture bad enough that doctors felt it necessary to replace the hip.
According an interview given to Associated Press by a spokesperson of the hospital Divac is staying in, “During the day, a surgical procedure was performed. He is in a stable general and physical condition and is under a careful supervision of the medical staff.”
Here’s hoping that the Vladfather makes a quick recovery!
Hope he recovers well and stays in Europe far away from anything Kings related.
Oh damn. For a man of his size and age, a busted hip and replacement is no walk in the park. Here’s to a quick recovery and full mobility for the big guy. Get well, Vlade!
Get well Vlad get plenty of rest and turn off your phone dont even worry about giving the new GM draft advice just rest and sleep for all next week
Well wishes and snark combo. Well done sir. Sincerely, if he would just be a ‘beloved alumnus’ in the front row, like we saw in Indy, instead of pretending to ‘advise’ The Little Chap, he’d be…beloved!
Flop.
I laughed and liked, I’ll admit it.
I laughed so hard, I’m tapped out now.
These are Horry-ble takes!
Not this time. He was clearly hip-checked.
Might be the best all time KHersld joke.
I’m going to avoid the snark this one time and wish him a full and speedy recovery.
Get well Vlade! Hip replacement is a big deal.
Do the Kings really have this guy on the payroll?
Unfortunately….yes
Something about having a better hip two days ago…?
Down goes the big domino. Now the offseason can begin.
Which team(s) will be worse than us in the West? Jazz? Pelicans?
Probably just enough teams to keep the kings in the play-in conversation.
Whoa!!! And boom goes the offseason.
Looks like it was either Houston of Miami
Maybe maybe maybe Miami will now settle for DDR?
Please please please?
Here’s the one I saw kicking around on Miami blogs:
Sabonis and DDR for Wiggins, Rozier, Ware, Jovic and Jaquez Jr. I plugged it into Fanspo’s trade machine and it’s a near perfect salary match.
I would do that Sabonis – MIA trade in a hot minute. Really like Ware and JJJ as prospects to build around.
Monk, Lavine and DDR could easily be flipped as well.
KE, KM, DC, JJJ, Ware would be a good start to a rebuild.
And Jovic. I think he could be really good. Still need a PG, but that can come at a different time, I suppose.
The problem I see for Miami in that deal is they lose some solid depth and grt older with DDR. If I was Perry, I would probably go for it. Ask for a pick as well, and move in with the rest of the offseason by looking for a decent PG.
The Suns have one ugly ass roster right now. Green, Booker, Beal and Brooks? That’s not a recipe for wins. They have to be planning on more trades.
So the Rockets now have a ton of wings (KD, Eason, Thompson, Whitmore, Smith Jr.) and can’t play them all. What they don’t have is a PG. Should would have been nice to have Fox to offer them right now in exchange for picks and youth.
They still have that $44.8M TO on VanVleet, though I could see them declining that option and negotiating a longer term deal. But I agree that having Fox available to trade for a package of the guys you mentioned and picks would be a lot better than what we got.
I think everyone on this forum said it at the time of the Fox trade, if that’s all you could get at the time, should have just waited until the offseason to trade him once teams are more inclined to make moves. MM and Vivek are something else.
The Phoenix Suns are trading two-time NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the 2025 draft and five second-round picks, sources tell ESPN.

Dammit! I got Crandell’d.
LOL! time stamps are the same. I call it a draw.
There can only be winners and losers!!! No drawers!!!
Don’t give Mr. “No pants” any ideas!!!
That’s a very fair trade for both sides. Nice to see HOU didn’t overpay.
The top of the West is just ridiculous.
It’s crazy to think that the Suns gave up Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson and 4 first round pics just 2 years ago for Durant.
That’s now been reduced to Green, Brooks and a this year’s #10 as the real return. I view Green as basically a younger version of LaVine, so did the Suns get less for Durant than the Kings got for Fox?
Well, you also have to look at their age and contract situation.
Did Memphis get more for Bane than the Suns got for KD? Those picks could turn in to some nice players if they use them in a trade.
There’s seems to be no rhyme or reason to player values at this point. I’m surprised Bane went for as much as he did and I’m surprised Fox went for so little (although I chalk that up to MM being a horrible negotiator, Perry should be miles better).
Bridges going to NY for five firsts and a swap is hard for me to fathom.
I think it’s because Bane wasn’t on the market, like KD and Fox were. Orlando targeted him and were willing to overpay, much like how the Knicks overpaid for Bridges. It’s an all in move you do when you think that piece is taking you to the highest levels in the league.
Fair point. Hopefully some teams target our players. No King should be off limits.
Damn, this is wild.
LegionHoops (whatever that is) reporting that after the KD trade, teams are now pivoting to DDR and Monk.
Perry and Vivek have the opportunity to rebuild right now with most of the league in win now mode. That’s the effect of two small market teams making it to the Finals, especially one no one expected to be there.
I really hope all five of Lavine, Sabonis, Monk , JV and DDR are traded this offseason. We really could end up with a bunch of solid young players and extra picks if we embrace the opportunity this offseason.
Yup. Rebuild the roster for a better shot at long term success.
One can dream. I know they won’t do it, but I really would like a reset and rebuild.
What kind of Domas offer would get Vivek to sign off on a full-rebuild?
Do you think a Bane-like offer of 4 kind-of crappy FRPs would get it done or would it need to also include a young player to build around with less FRPs coming back (like a Jabari Smith Jr or Kel’el Ware)
The time is now! FIFY
