ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Kevin Huerter’s MRI came back clean, and that the Kings shooting guard will be day-to-day with a just a hamstring strain:
Sacramento Kings G Kevin Huerter’s MRI returned clean on his right hamstring strain and he’ll be day-to-day on a return, his agent Mark Bartelstein of @PrioritySports tells ESPN.

Huerter will probably miss at least a game or two as the Kings give him time to get fully healthy again.
The Kings next play in Washington on Saturday, followed by a game at Utah on Monday, March 20th. The Kings then play again on the 21st at home against Boston. The Boston game could make sense as a return if Huerter feels up for it, but if he misses that game the Kings would then have another two full days off before hosting the Phoenix Suns.
Whenever Huerter returns, it’s a huge sigh of relief that the injury isn’t anything serious.
In Huerter’s absence, I’d speculate that Mike Brown starts Terence Davis as shooting guard. Davis started the second half in place of Huerter on Thursday, and it keeps continuity with Monk helping lead the second unit.
Park him for the tank!Sorry, still getting used to this new world.
Make sure that he’s healthy for the playoffs!
I agree. We need Kevin in the long run especially in the playoffs. TD could be his replacement but have not been impressed the last couple of games. Seems to be out of place and fouls at the worst times. His defense hasn’t been good lately especially getting burned on straight line drives. What about Edwards. Plays really good defense can score and rebounds well
TD is a lot better when he gets more significant minutes. Even when his shot isn’t falling, he rebounds, defends well, and just seems to make things happen.
LUCK OF THE IRISH?
“Huerter” is a German name, but St. Patrick saw Kevin’s red hair and said, “Close enough, Lad. Pour some Guinness on it and get back out there.”
There’s an Irish guy sprawled on my back porch, just lounging and soaking up the sun. Says his name is Paddy O’Furniture.
I was telling Greg on twitter how I left a party at an Irish Pub the other night and that though my friends may be mad at me for not telling anyone before leaving, I was simply celebrating with an Irish Goodbye.
I have no ancestry from that part of the world, but I do an Irish goodbye as though I was half-leprachaun, half suicidal poet.
It´s a strange name. It sure sounds German, but it´s not actually a word and I couldn´t find an origin story. Appearantly it´s unknown where it comes from and why it exists.
Maybe Huerter knows.
Perhaps some jagoff at Ellis Island though it would be better than Huerta.
I’d expect it to be a mashup of Hörter, which is not an uncommon surname in Germany.
The sound is roughly similar.
Incidentally, Hörter means Eraser of Dreadful Pasts. Really.
This scare illustrates how fortunate the Kings have been avoiding injuries in this magical run. Doesn’t some credit have to go to the Kings training staff? I am sure they would take some heat if the situation was otherwise.
That and the fact that Sabonis is a cyborg.
Saborg.
Cybonis.
Did you see his 4 blocks in the Nets game?
Sabonimatumbo.
I don’t think anything about injuries with pro athletes carries more weight than luck.
For most of them, sure? But as someone who watches (and cringes) Josh Allen try out a new bad idea every game, some dudes just seem invulnerable
I just want to give major kudos to the athletic trainers/medical staff this year. The fact that we’ve avoided major injuries throughout this season is a miracle. I’m sure a big part of it could be that these guys are being conditioned very well before and after the games.
Imagine having a situation like Phoenix where your best player goes down during a non-contact pregame shoot-around warm-up.
It’s a Youngman’s game.
that’s why the Kings never warm up or even practice.
Kevin will be back in no time!

Whew.
There is zero reason for Kevin to play before the PHX game next week. They can beat Washington and Utah without him and the Boston game should be giving anyone with an owwie the night off anyways.
The Boston game will give the team a chance to prepare for the eventual Finals matchup.
Bean Town vs Beam Town.
We’ve known each other for so long
Your hamstring’s aching, but you’re too shy to say it (say it)
Inside, we both know what’s been going on
We know the game and we’re gonna play it
And if you ask me how I’m feeling
Don’t tell me you’re too blind to see
Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and dessert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and huert you
Glad for him it’s not serious. Don’t rush back. Be 100%. Hamstrings are fickle. I’d put Kessler in. Barnes and Murray provide outside shooting.
yep
and Brown needs to give the “step up” speech- Huerter is out so the rest of you need to step up.
Keegan- shoot the ball, drive to the hole, jump and don’t shy from contact. He needs one of those drills where the coaches hit him with broom and pillows and a plastic thing that looks like Day Day from the duds. Get him used to getting punched
Edwards has been a bright spot.
Brown might even throw Keon out there!
So does Monk and Lyles.
Huh, so apparently it wasn’t a hamstring injury.

“This is better,” I said, not having any real idea of whether it actually is.
I thought hamstring is a collection of three or so different muscels, is it not?
and ham too, I think (but don’t quote me) making it a unit of four (quadriceps, more than uniceps, biceps or triceps, but less than the pentaceps).
Again, don’t quote me on that.
Pull a hammy! Maybe we should consult with James.

I thought it was more like a tendon, but I will again point out my ignorance in the field.
Sounds like this tweet is saying he’s got a strain of the hamstring but not an injury of the hamstring. Either way, next man up!
Hamstring strains have NAGGING written all over it. I hope his time off is more than just a couple of games.
I’d be surprised if he plays before the Phx game on 3/24.
2 notes of interest for the Kings RN: Wizards are down 10 to the Cavs in Cleveland with most of the 2nd half remaining.
Also, the Grizzlies are down to the Spurs in San Antonio (and they play Golden State tomorrow) as of now.
And the Lakers lose at the buzzer against the Mavs on a Kleber game-winning three.
Almost more beautiful than a Kings win.
I scoreboard watch for L*kers losses.
At this point, I only really care about:
Kings wins
Grizzlies losses
L*kers losses
I kind of care about Nuggets losses, but even though they have a really tough schedule remaining, it would be really tough for the Kings to catch them at this late in the season with so few games remaining.
I am deeply annoyed with the Grizzlies win yesterday. The Spurs were up 29 in the 3rd quarter and 9 with 1 minute to go. It took some serious dedication to the tank for them to lose that one.
At this point, I dislike Memphis way more than the Lakers so I would gladly have taken a Grizzlies loss instead. It’s not even about the 2 vs 3 seed at this point, I just want to win out against them.
I actually am kinda rooting for the Lakers to at least make the play-in. Would be so satisfying to bounce them out (on the flipside though if it’s us that gets bounced, the last team I’d want to lose to is LA).
