The NBA has announced selections for the 2023 Rising Stars game, and it’s no surprise that Keegan Murray was selected.
The official announcement of the roster is annoyingly posted only in the NBA App:

Even if you don’t want to bother going into the app for no real reason, rest assured others have and we can confirm Keegan is among those listed:

It’s not a shock that Keegan would be picked, he’s been having a tremendous rookie year, was a high pick, and is contributing to a good team. That’s a recipe for a Rising Stars invite. It would have been a much bigger story if he wasn’t selected.
We’ll continue to wait for additional All-Star selection announcements. All-Star Reserves will be announced on Thursday, with Domantas Sabonis a likely lock, and De’Aaron Fox on the fringe. We’re also waiting to hear if Kevin Huerter gets an invite to the 3-Point Contest.
Congrats Rook! Represent the Kings well.
Well-deserved. Murray is performing as well as any rookie in the class.
Well deserved. Keegan Murray is the best tackler I’ve seen since Joe Montana.
Dear Keegan,

Congrats.
Love,
Your brother Bill
I’ll watch my language but I want it to be known that Keegan is our most beloved Murray – so heck with Bill Murray and F Murray Abraham
(fart noises)
I see what you did there, and it’s genius!
He is actually his Uncle. The Wikipedia page has it wrong.
Isn’t that Carl?
Get ‘er done, Keegan. That is all.
Congrats Keegan- but duh….
Trade rumors- Thybulle. Philly wants a back up center. Looking at Drummond from Bulls. Kings do need rim protection- in part because players beat Kings perimeter players and get to the rim. Thybulle would help that.
Deal would probably not be straight up but may have to involve 3-4 teams like the MB3 trade last year.
Thybulle cannot score but he can defend. In a sense, gives the Kings a number of defensive specialists- Davion, KZ, Keon Ellis- is this too many?
He has fallen out of the rotation in Philly.
It must be tough to be a GM- to see all the trades you want, just all fall apart.
I’m not a GM, but I play one in this community…
I also referee, most any time I watch but I wouldn’t qualify for the official position because I sleep just fine, thank you very much.
As for trades… gonna be a fun build up for the next ten days
I think Thybulle is one of the best 5 perimeter defenders in the league but I wouldn’t trade much for him. He’s too one dimensional and redundant with KZ (although he’s a much better defender than KZ).
We talk about a lot of different things that the Kings need (perimeter D, rim protection, etc.) but the bottom line is we need players who make NET POSITIVE IMPACT. Sabonis is no All-NBA defender, but we are ALWAYS better when he’s on the floor. Conversely, Thybulle is an All-NBA defender, but it’s unclear if his team is better overall when he plays. Who cares if we end up with the No. 1 overall defense in the league if we end up with a net rating that’s below what we have now?

Thubulle is a great defender. With Mitchell taking care of the guards and Thybulle the wings and some forwards along with the offense we have it would make for a pretty good all around team. We still need a backup to Sabonis.
Great defender, not very good offensive player. Maybe the king’s offensive scheme would help him, but I really have no idea.
I think Thybulle has been supplanted by PJ Tucker. They are a bit redundant for the 76ers, otherwise I imagine he’s still be starting
Matisse is just buried on the depth chart of a very good Philly team. He’s also an RFA this year and probably pretty low on the priority charts for them. In my mind, he’s a solid buy low prospect to kick the tires on.
Like I said before, the 76ers are rumored to want a backup big man for a title run and Holmes for Matisse and Korkmaz works. A trade like that doesn’t really impact the core players of either team but gives each team a different look at end of the rotation players before the playoffs.
Holmes for Matisse AND Korkmaz would be a home run trade for the Kings imo
Not to me. Thybulle doesn’t make that much $$, getting off Holmes contract isn’t that big of a deal when he’s worth about 25M over the next 2 seasons combined (and that’s with the trade kicker added I might point out), so I think what’s important is to use that money to bring back a piece you want long term. If Thybulle is out there and the Sixers want a player in return (that’s the only way the Kings can complete the trade at this point), I’d say swap Terence Davis for Thybulle if that’s the way you want to go.
But I guess it is what it is. Holmes is a big enough piece, when you combine him with Davis and Len’s salaries, you could get a player like John Collins. Not necessarily Collins, perse, just in that salary range of 20-25M AAV. I don’t think you trade that to get the Bird rights of Thybulle and Korkmaz personally.
Interesting thing about Thybulle…he’s a better career 3pt shooter than Fox. Thybulle has the slight edge, but they are pretty on par for shooting.
Now the Warriors are in the mix.
NO MITCHELL?
I BITCHELL!
…But congrats, Keegan!!! Go rook!
From Off Night to Night Off – The Davion Mitchell Story.
Congratulations, young fella! Well-deserved, for sure.
Honestly don’t know if this is true but my gut tells me that every Kings top draft pick for the last decade has played in this game.
If this is true….is this an honor or an omen?
He’s a great player. His name backwards is literally NaGeek. He’s the reigning western conference rookie of the month. Of course he’d be invited.
He’s literally starting on a team that is in 4th place in the conference. He deserves way more accolades than other players who’s numbers are better but team is garbage. Context is a bitch. If I’m wrong it’s probably a numbers thing.
The fact that he is likely the 5th option on offense when he’s out there with the starters is also worth note. The same can’t be said for the other ROY candidates.
That was my point… you expressed it better though.
Pelicans on a nine game losing streak. Creepy.
They are without their two best players. It could easily be the same for the Kings if Sabonis and Fox were out.
Ah yes, let’s make excuses for the Pelicans. After all, injuries aren’t part of the game.
Niners fan: “What a cheap victory, decided by an injury.”
Realist: “Protecting the QB is one of the most important parts of the game, and the Niners failed from the start.”
Niners fan: “CHEAP VICTORY. INJURIES!”
It’s that contract… you don’t pay someone that much to not play basketball…. He will always get hurt
Keegan!
Murray!
BTW, we aren’t imagining things, the refs really do hate the Kings.
This was great. Thank you.
