Ever since Wordle came out a few years ago, various sites have been trying to create their own daily games to various degrees of success. One of those, HoopsGrids.com, tests NBA fans random obscure knowledge by guessing the rarest player in a category to fit the grid. Usually the grid has multiple different teams or categories on it but today it’s all about the Sacramento Kings.
So again the name of the game is to try to find the most obscure Sacramento Kings you can. Try to do it without cheating and post your results in the comments. I’ll put mine down there (I got a rarity score of 0.67 but the current leader in the Kings Herald clubhouse is a tie between Greg and Will, both with a 0.47).

SPOILER WARNING, COMMENTS BELOW THIS WILL BE RESULTS THAT YOU SHOULDN’T CHECK BEFORE PLAYING.
I guess a lot of us nerds were trying Drew Gooden? (I was started to scribble the names out before I realized no one else did)
I raise you an Ike Diogu
Shout out to Jerry for a couple of these guys from before my time!
And.. Shout out to my incurable sickness for watching terrible basketball for the rest of them!
The high flyer!
I recall a couple of those guys now that I see their names, but there are a lot I don’t. Well played.
My results:
Very upset I didn’t think about Duje Dukan
oooh, that’s a good one
Can’t believe Jahmi’us Ramsey hurt my score that much.
I definitely could have done better, but I’m not hating on it for my first time.
What a poorly designed ‘game.’ No thanks.
If I had a dime for every time I heard this walking out of ARCO I / ARCO II / G1C, I’d be a long-retired one percenter.
I’m a little miffed that Jason Terry didn’t count.
Me too with Cash Considerations.
Fun game!
Who got to Jim Les before me
Not bad, all things considered.
Gah, Mikki Moore! I kept asking myself who backed up Jason Thompson and could not get any names.
Should this hurt this much?!?
And what’s the prize? A kick in the peaches??
Started with Keon Clark. Loved that guy. Briefly recalled Cuttino Mobley. Gotta have Ronnie Price. I figured there had to be a guy called Jimmy Walker, and it seem there was. No idea why Ryan Hollins popped into my head. Bruno Caboclo is always the right choice. Jack Cooley and Jon Brockman are the same guy. And wrapped things up with Robert Woodard II.
I seem to recall a guy from (I think Finland) northern Europe, but his name wouldn’t come to me. I seem to remember he was a real nice kid. I’m certain he’s got a lower number than a few guys on my list.
Bottom line: 0.53 which might be good for someone who didn’t get to Sacramento until 2001.
All of these are because, I am on The Kings Herald…

I sat next to Jerry Eaves at Vegas Summer League and he was easily the most obscure (he played 3 games for Sac), Evers Burns because of Rob_Hessing, Brent Price because I always wanted to see him actually play (too injured), Ike Diogu (because we all know that Akis has that Hot Tub Time Machine jpeg), Ray McCallum because it’s still Summer and he was a VSL Champ, Tyler Honeycutt (just because), Michael Adams because we were just talking about Kings players that left and became All-Stars and he was drafted and played a handful of games for Sac, Kenny Natt because I’ve been on this site too much and how can you forget Kenny Natt!?, and Leon Wood – now a referee, but at one time a King. I almost put Jabari Smith.
is this better? nope. nm
Randy Brown
Once a king, always a king
OT: I see this guy’s videos from time to time. I mostly feel he’s just speculative clickbait, but I think he hits Westbrook pretty squarely on the head with this one. No wonder the Kangz are toying with the idea of brining him on board.
They only want to brine him so he’ll be delicious for the holidays.
Roasted Russell or water downed Westbrook. Take your pick of side dish.
How is 12 year vet Brian Grant a .05 and Sim Bhullar who literally played one minute in the NBA, a 0.77? Same with Frank Mason III. Seems completely random.
I am guessing that their algorithm rewards older over newer and rarity of choice over frequency.
i.e. If 2 or 3 others picked Sim Bhullar, Frank Mason III and:or Duje Dukan than a frequency bias is rolled in.
I am just flat out guessing on that. I bet Bob Davies, who’s number is retired (it is the #11 jersey that Domas received an exemption by the Davies family to wear and may be a great trivia question one day if his Sabonis jersey is rafter exalted –
which (crazy) franchise has the same number retired twice? – I digress). anyhoo – if you put Bob Davies in, because he’s a Rochester Royal from over 70 years ago, he will likely get a lower rating score than ol’ Simmy, is my guess. But maybe not.
Helpful, ain’t I?
Evers Burns! Evers Burns!!!
His name is Evans Snrub.
Eddie house was a unicorn!
I basically remember all the names (including 10-days contracts or whatever) in the years 2004-2009 (because I was a teenager and they were the first years in which I was following more actively the Kings), apparently from the results I guess am the only one.
