Love love love the story about Jerry getting a phone call from Larry Bird, who told him that he and Carlisle where reminiscing about that time Jerry played one on one and talked some trash.

Thanks, guys.

I’m looking forward to the local radio hosts try to spin all this “Perry magic” as having a plan, putting the team in the right direction, blah blah blah. And every time Acuff has a good game, the conversation being something about him being the next superstar, only to struggle for the next 5 games and making excuses.

It’s a media cycle that never ends in Sacramento. Go Kings?

You three are a great listen, as always.

I wish someone in the media would actually game out what is Perry’s plan

Do I think that the Kings should move on from Lavine and Sabonis, yeh probably, but if they do, will they replace them with. Cap room is great but what is Perrys plan to replace these players stats or quality of play

One week Westbrook is said to not be coming back, the next week maybe he is

He seems to be decent at the draft but, his free agent moves don’t exactly fill me with confidence see D Schroeder

Acuff may end up being a good player, but I’m not confident that they are doing all they can to help him succeed. I don’t think running out a 19 year old smaller PG and going here you go is the path for success. Its going to be an inconsistent path and having depth behind him to help when things go bad is a given, but no its just crickets

His plan is to always be making a new plan. It’s veterans and try to go for wins, then it’s about development, now it’s build around Acuff and let these contracts expire.

I have little faith that this team will be a playoff team within the next 5 years. Hell, 7-10 years seems more likely.

What are the odds of Perry/Christi being employed when Kings next make the playoffs ? 100 to 1 sounds about right but we will still have Vivek/Matina !

What are the odds of them both being employed by the end of this upcoming season?

Higher than any of us would want.

Vivek has “his guy” in the front office.

Matina has “her guy” as the HC.

It’s understood that this is a “rebuilding phase” (at least in the way this moronic organization understands it). So not as much “win now” pressure as Vivek might normally push on.

With all the above, I think we’re stuck with this pair for at least the next 3-5 years, minimum.

I disagree. Christie won’t last long. I think Perry wants another guy, probably Mike Woodson, to lead this bunch. Why Mike Woodson??? Idk.

Go find some younger guy that be innovative with the offense and actually hold players accountable for their lack of knowledge and effort on the court.

With you on this. If we aren’t a play-in team I think Doug is done. Perry probably gets thru the season after that unless the wheels fall off with Woodson or whoever and Perry will be gone if we aren’t a playoff team or really close that year.

I think Bobby Jackson unceremoniously departing last month says things aren’t so good on the bench. He and Doug are good friends so when it was announced that he and the Kings agreed to part ways, it got me wondering. Bobby was apparently the “defensive coordinator” for the team. Maybe he saw he was gonna have to design an defense around Acuff, LaVine, and Sabonis and decided to jump ship.

And the Vivek leadership journey continues. Same as it ever was.

But we will have to sign Christie to an extension before he gets fired. Then Perry can get his coach only to be fired himself a year or so after he hires a new coach. This is the way.

Part of me hopes you’re right, and part of me is cringes at the thought of Woodson being next. There is no world in which that’s actually any better.

Yes on the smart-younger coach. Or any good coach. Doug is counter productive for developing Acuff-any young talent.

Rutterless ship. He won’t stand up to or sit WB /other vets. He’s such a bad hire.

I agree. Doug is gonna stay on at least until his contract is up. The GM role is Perry’s to keep for as long as he doesn’t upset Vivek, results on the floor be damned. Vivek loves to surround himself with cheap yes men.

I can’t recall off the top of my head, but has any coach remained until the end of his contract under Vivek. Is that even a thing in today’s NBA?

If only he could find veterans that were actually good

What’s the expression, what is the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome

This is a bad team with that mostly has players that aren’t great Mostly great to watch, what’s not to like 😉

Perry is bad at FA- just ask Knick fans. But solid draft it seems. Hes pretty below average and prob a yes man for V-

The biggest joke, and classic kings is their idiotic decision to not tank last year. May mean they end up in the bottom three this year, thereby going backwards in both drafts

More and more it seems like this KL and Clips cap circumvention ordeal is going to have grave consequences.
Perhaps KL’s contract is voided and he becomes a FA, able to sign with the Raps without them having to give up anything which probably puts them in contender status in the East. Do they then have renewed interest in Domas?
Seems like Balllmer is a coniving PoS that deserves a heavy penalty from the NBA, we’ll see how soft handed Silver handles this.
Amazing journalism btw by Pablo.

I am all in on Darius Acuff Jr. Don’t want to set unrealistic expectations about him being the savior but I hope he shows flashes of the player we hope he can become. Making plays, bringing energy and showing the type of charisma elite point guards/scorers show. Can’t wait to watch Acuff grow.
