With LaVine, the Kings are getting an efficient shooter (51% from the field and 44% from three) who is averaging 24 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game this season. With Fox, the Spurs are getting a lightning quick sidekick for Victor Wembanyama for several years to come who is averaging 25 points per game, 6.1 assists and 5 rebounds.
Here are some updates from today about the deal:

Sacramento Kings General Manager Monte McNair shared a statement on the deal via a press release:
“De’Aaron has played a pivotal role with our franchise, and we are deeply grateful for everything he did to support the organization on and off the court,” McNair said. “We appreciate Kevin’s [Huerter’s] many contributions to the team, especially as a key member of the 2023 playoff team. We also thank Jordan [McLaughlin] for his hard work and commitment during his time with the Kings.” “As we look to the future, I am excited to welcome Zach to Sacramento. He is a gifted scorer, and his athleticism will make an impact on both ends of the floor. We also look forward to Sidy [Cissoko] joining the Kings.”
Zach LaVine will reportedly be in uniform for Wednesday’s game in Sacramento against the Orlando Magic:

Doug Christie was asked about Zach LaVine:
“He’s just an incredible talent, man,” Christie said. “If you give him space, he can shoot. If you let him get by you he’s aerial, he’s got midrange, I mean he’s a four-level scorer in my opinion – deep three, three, mid-range, at the basket, he shoots free throws at a high clip.”
Kevin Huerter, who also was part of the deal, shared a letter to Sacramento:

Fox, according to the Kings, ranks the following for the Kings franchise:
- 4th in points
- 4th in assists
- 2nd in steals
- 5th in field goals made
- 4th in three pointers made
- 8th in three throws made
- 11th in games played
We’ll have more information on the deal, and any other action before Thursday’s NBA trade deadline as it becomes available.
Thank you guys for ending the playoff drought!
I’ll never forget the team landing in SMF well after midnight to hundreds of people cheering after clinching following the Portland game. It’s the best drought-era Kings moment in my opinion. Well, that and the game 1 entrance.
We were at Buffalo Wild Wings with my son it lit!
That whole midnight greeting was unplanned, too. Some Kings fans on Twitter just tweeted out “who’s down to drive to SMF to cheer the team when they arrive?” I think our own Kevin Fippin was a big part of organizing it all.
Fox said he never expected it to end this way and then hired Rich Paul of Klutch, didn’t sign an extension, and told the kings he’d only sign with the spurs. Don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out.
Is it a Post Fox Pox or a New Zach Attack!
I am optimistic that this Sacramento Kings team can remain competitive – but only if additional acquisitions occur in the next 72 hours to bring some additional front court support for Domas and Keegan.
Nice statement by both guys. I totally believe Fox when he says he wanted to end his career here. Even he could see the Vivek turmoil resurfacing after the short Beam Team reprieve. Good thing for his career to head to an actual stable, professional team. Glad Heurter is looking at this as an opportunity for a fresh start.
I became a Kings fan when Fox was drafted. I loved basketball, but at the time really didn’t care who won. I loved watching Fox at Kentucky and when the Kings drafted him, I decided they were my team. The main reason I chose the Kings is my family is from Stockton and I like the connection with the Stockton Kings, but I also wanted to watch Fox and the Kings young roster grow. Thank you for going hard on the court Fox. It has been a pleasure watching you grow as a player. I look forward to seeing what the fastest man in the league can do with the longest. Keep growing as a player and you might get a ring or two.
Regardless of how everything ended, I’ll always be thankful for Fox and Huerter being a part of the 2022-23 Beam Team that broke the playoff drought. Definitely the most fun I’ve had following the Kings in a long time with a lot of memorable moments. Best of luck to both of them.
fuck Fox
thanks Kevin
Dear De’arron, if you wanted to end your career here, you could have so don’t give us that BS. You were the one who demanded out. You had a front office throwing max extensions at you and a fan base that supported you to the very end. Even when they gave you that rookie max extension, they were being criticize by the national media because they said you were not that guy. The organization and fans defended you just the same. Just tell the truth and say you did it for your wife and family. She wanted to go home to San Antonio and you wanted to be back in Texas. Choosing you over Haliburton, who wanted to be here, was a huge mistake.
It makes me sad how many people got duped by the Kings org’s spin to make Fox seem like the bad guy in this.
