Great job giving the love to Doug in this one. It was a really great point, and he’s done a really impressive job through difficult circumstances.
Is Doug reacting that way because of something on the court or is he somehow channeling the guy behind him to the right?
Great listen as always!
Thanks Will, Tony and The Great Jerry Reynolds!
Good stuff as usual. I’m just along for the wild ride this season.
Agreed with thoughts on Monk needing to focus more on playmaking less on scoring . Zach and Demar can do it better .
If something would anger me into stepping away from the Kings it would be bringing Vlade back as GM.
I would rather roll the dice on Anjali than to get that stupid a-hole back. Seriously.
That he is even invited to sit courtside is a slap in the face. I don’t care how many games he played or rebounds he tapped out as a Kings players. His tenure as GM has crippled the Kings.
I place more of the Vlade as GM blame on Vivek than I do Vlade himself. It was dumb to hire someone with no experience as GM of an NBA team. The strangest hire at any level in King’s history. No matter who in the organization we criticize from players, coaches to GMs, all roads mostly lead back to Vivek.
I have enough blame for both of them and Pete D
No way. The Luka snub is all Vlade. Dismissive long chap.
Brandon Williams had a hand in pushing for Bagley too. Remember the tiff he created with Joerger?
Ultimately, the problem with the Kings is the shithead owner.
Agree 100.
So if the AS game would have the US against the rest of the worlkd, then Canadians are part of the rest of the world, right?
And how about KAT (playing for the Dominican team)? That’s part of the US, right?
So how would the 12 man rosters look like?
World:
Jamal Murray is Canadien.
Gobert
Wemby
Wemby is out injured, so is Embiid (he’s team USA?). But yeah.
Random thought, when will we see the next American born MVP. It seems to me the 4 best players in the NBA today are Jokic, SGA, Giannis, and Luka. The last 6 MVPs have been foreign born. The era of LBJ, Curry, Durant, Harden, etc is at an end. So who is next for the Americans? Tatum, Ant, Cade?
I don’t see an MVP in the future for JT or Cade…however ANT will run this league a long with Wemby and Luka for the next decade imo.
Another observation, as always, most of the high end talent has been in the West and will continue to be in the West for the next five years at least (Joker, ANT, Shai, Luka, Wemby).
Tough road ahead in the West for teams that don’t employ one of those players, which is why I don’t buy into this King’s core.
Cooper Flagg?
Ant can win when he moves to NYC or LA
Ant eventually playing in a big market seems like a foregone conclusion, which makes that 2031 pick quite juicy.
I think Ant is the most likely answer. He’s still only 23 years old. In 3 or 4 years he’ll be in his prime while all the older generation will have mostly aged out. I think he gets one somewhere in there barring health. I also think he does it somewhere other than Minnesota.
Ant, Tatum, Flagg, maybe Zion if he could stay healthy for a full season?
Keon Ellis.
Indeed. The correct answer is usually the one that is right there in front of you.
I would have 3 all-star teams + Rising Stars. Fans vote for 3 starting lineups: USA, Europe, Rest of the World. Fill out 8 man rosters as usual.
Then NBA Saturday night’s events are populated from these 4 teams. I’d much rather watch an all-star in the dunk contest than a borderline NBA player.
Points are awarded something like 5-3-1 for first 3 places. Team points are used to seed the 4 team bracket for Sunday and as points for a head start in the first round games.
Sunday you play the 3 games.
I’d watch that.
OT:
How about them Mavs? I think that franchise is going straight into cursed mode and will be mostly irrelevant for the next decade. Kyrie and AD are up there in years and oft injured, the asset cup is bare, the West is loaded. The dumbest trade of all time will lead to pre-2000’s Mavs ineptitude.
That’s one fan base I really feel sorry for.
They now have as much reason to hate the Lakers and their FO/Ownership as we do/did. Definitely feeling a lot of sympathy for them.
Same here. I can’t fathom a front office doing that to their fan base. And of course since the trade, everything has gone from horrific to apocalyptic.
From 20 years of Dirk/Luka to this. They’re about to find out how the other half lives.

Yeah, the rug pull on them has been so abrupt, so unnecessary, and followed by some bad injury luck. It’s such a drastic and fast change.
At the same time, I struggle with some of the current “no fan base deserves this!” histrionics. That fan base has had such a long run of stars and varying levels of success, including a title. They are far from the most downtrodden fan bases in the NBA. They’re probably having the worst season of any fan base though.
So are you saying that the Mavs fanbase does deserve this? Because their team had a championship 14 years ago abd have been pretty good overall?
No, I’m not saying they deserve this. I’m saying that this is an all-time bad trade, but still not the worst thing fans of an NBA franchise have been put through.
“Greetings Mavs fans! The Kings fans extended their greetings!”

Misery loves company. Welcome to the Order of Onerous Owners, Dallas fans!
I feel somewhat bad, but then I remember they had many years of playoffs, several NBA final appearances, and one championship.
It sucks for them, but it’s hard to top what we’ve gone through as Kings fans.
I notice that Murray is shooting 38.5% on 3’s over last 10 games — is there a view that he’s now getting even better looks because he’s now playing with a SG in Lavine who can hit contested 3’s with range out to 30 feet? If Lavine, Murray and Ellis all hit 3’s at 40%+ and get enough shots, the O could become fairly dangerous.
