Dion Waiters To Cavaliers At No. 4?

By | 0 Comments | Feb 20, 2019

That's right: the newest rumor, reported by the Akron Beacon Journal and Yahoo!'s Adrian Wojnarowski late Wednesday, is that the Cleveland Cavaliers are considering Syracuse guard Dion Waiters at No. 4. The assumption would be that Bradley Beal would have gone to the Washington Wizards at No. 3.

Waiters hasn't worked out for anyone since leaving the combine early with reports of a lottery promise. The heavy rumors have been that the Suns promised him at No. 13. More heavy rumors have Houston, of course, trying to move into the top 10; on Wednesday, the Rockets swapped No. 14 (behind Phoenix) for No. 12 (ahead of Phoenix), so I do wonder if Cleveland is actually looking at falling back into a couple or all of Houston's picks in the teens and a player (though not Kyle Lowry, due to Kyrie Irving). The Cavs could then take Waiters at 12 if he's on the board, which isn't certain.

Regardless, adding another player into the top-5 mix is great news for the Kings, under the assumption that it helps either Thomas Robinson or Michael Kidd-Gilchrist slide to No. 5. That, at the very least, gives Geoff Petrie another option.

Word is that the Kings actually also like Dion Waiters a good bit.
