USA Basketball announced today the 2024 USA Men’s National Team Player Pool, and the pool includes Sacramento Kings All-Star De’Aaron Fox. Fox joins a pool that is a veritable who’s-who of US NBA stars, plus Austin Reaves and Duncan Robinson.

Fox has had brief stints with Team USA in the past, but seemed to have fallen out of favor with the program after withdrawing himself from the program in 2019. However, a September 2023 report from The Athletic indicated that Fox had “serious interest” in committing to the 2024 Olympics.
With such a deep talent pool, it will be interesting to see if Fox ends up making the international squad. Fox certainly represents one of Team USA’s brightest up-and-coming stars, but the 2024 Olympics may end up being more focused on being a farewell tour for the old guard stars such as LeBron James, Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, and Anthony Davis. We’ll have to wait to see which direction managing director Grant Hill goes with the team.
Regardless of whether he ends up on the final Olympic roster in 2024, it’s a nice bit of recognition for Fox.

Goaltending!
They’re going to put De’Aaron on the team for the post-game pressers.

Has he been boycotting the media as a whole, or just post-game pressers?
Until last night I don’t think that he had spoken to the media at all for over two weeks.
That is not a good sign at all. An indicator of real issues?
And what could be the issue w Fox. If it’s that he didn’t like heat he took for not facing media after Pels (I think) thumping….That’s something a calcitrant player does
Or a guy that wants to get treatment and then go home to his family that has not quite mastered the balancing act yet.
He’d get eaten alive in Philly for this. It’s a much softer landing in Sac. I personally don’t care about it much, but others do, and I hope that he figures it out.
I didn’t think of that. And I only care about it because this is a sign something is off with Fox etc. not talking to the media out of irritation doesn’t seem like something Fox would do before…. Holding a grudge.
That’s why it matters/why I’m wondering what’s going on.
I’m telling you it’s the play of Monk
No Keegan????
Duncan Robinson, Josh Hart, Chet Holmgren, Cam Johnson…Keegan is better than all of them.
And Austin Reeves. SMH
Is there something going on with the Kings? They seem despondent and lethargic. Fox – no contact with media for 16 days. HB no contact last night after good game.
Is this trade fear blues, trouble with coach, fear of Monte, trouble with media, trouble with us negative fans, trouble at home?
Some of the zip in the step seems to be missing, even last night.
Next 2 games critical.
Seems like unless there is a crash, Minnesota, OKC, Denver, LAC and NOP are top 5. Kings fighting, as of now, Suns and Mavs for 6 th.
Seems to be. I think the increased expectations are getting to them. Maybe the media and fans getting frustrated with the play too?
Definitely not the free, fun loving team from a season ago.
We on National TV Thursday?

Well, we’re not the free, fun loving fans from a season ago, either.
We now have the playoff drought monkey of our backs, and we (rightfully) want more.
It’s like last year we thought we were good again, now we are thinking if we’re a middle of the pack, first-round exit team, we are merely average, not good. And the path to further improvement is difficult to see.
Personally, I try to enjoy the wins, the development of Fox and Murray (sans slumps) etc. but it’s harder. Euphoria wears off quickly…
I don’t know what Fox needs to bust out of his current funk. I also know that any player selected to team USA comes back a more well-rounded person. Not just in a basketball sense by being coached and playing with the best of the best, but also because it is a new life experience. I hope Fox maxes the team!
I have Sacramento King questions:
What decisions are made when you’re deciding who to play between JaVale McGee and Alex Len. I don’t get it, is one performing better in practice that day, is one injured? And sometimes they don’t play at all. I’m actually a fan of both, but I think Alex Len is a little bit of a better player, so are you just giving minutes because they’re veterans? You don’t want to disappoint them? curious?
What is wrong with saving challenges till at least midway through the fourth quarter? I don’t understand why they must be called anytime before then. Until there’s a change and you get more challenges, why? curious?
What is going on with Fox? Don’t tell me he’s hurt cuz that’s b******* at this point. Fox did the exact same thing when Halliburton was here, when he played with a dominant point guard that was a much better passer than him. With Hally he showed disinterest, he started missing a lot of shots, free throws, etc. soon as Hally was gone, Fox goes off and, don’t tell me it’s cuz Sabonis is here. How did that help Fox? Really, they don’t even have a two-man game together, at all. It’s Monk now, Monk is a starting point guard in this league and the best passing point on this team. He’s a much better distributor than Fox just like Halliburton and I’m starting to ask myself, if Monk is a better point guard right now then huh….?! Fox can’t play with a better passing starting point. I’m sorry, but it’s happening again. What will the Kings do? curious?
When the Kings are struggling and can’t seem to make a shot it seems to be a simple answer to me, go to Keegan Murray! For some reason, I just have
confidence in this guy helping to get us back into games, Kings, you don’t agree? Why don’t you feed Keegan more? Curious?
Curious?
Fox seems like he is in a funk. He misses shots now that he made previously. He has less drives to the hoop and more 3’s.
Seems to act more aggressively in spurts on defense.
Is he mad at something?
injury, poor play by others, coaches, personal issues? trade talk?
I’m sure Fox puts in alot of work on the 3pt shooting but fans and media seems to be more negative about him taking too many, or shooting more when not making it. Was he 0-5 last night? Who wouldn’t be pissed and frustrated? I think he’ll find a middle ground sooner or later.
It’s a long season and Fox is down a bit. If anyone has shown devotion to the team and reciprocally the team to the player – it’s the Sacramento Kings and De’Aaron Fox.
He’s been exemplary. We’ve seen him from his bubbly teen introduction to today’s charming adult player, husband and Dad over his 6+ seasons. De’Aaron (Him!) being quiet for a month – on the court, off the court – is just a big ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
