I’ve been high on Mitchell since we drafted him. The fact that he’s gotten the opportunity to run the show with Fox out has shown what he can do. When you start breaking down his game in comparison to Fox, I really don’t think they are that far away. Mitchell plays better defense for sure. Although I think Fox is a capable defender, he simply won’t do it where Mitchell seems to cherish that aspect of the game. Certainly Fox has a unique ability to create offense for himself but Mitchell is not devoid of that ability. I actually think Mitchell sees the court better and is a better distributer of the ball and will continue to get better at that. The big question is how they will develop as shooters. Hard to know for sure but I think Mitchell will become the better shooter from long range however I’m not sure he will be a better mid range shooter than Fox. When you consider the financial obligations over the next 3 years, I’d strongly consider moving Fox. I’d take the deal with Boston that was proposed near the trade deadline. Fox for Smart, Nesmith, Bostons 2022 and 2024 first round picks.

The dive thing with Buddy is an odd take. The Pacers gave the ball to their best free throw shooter (other than Ty, possibly), and he biffed it.

Oswald shot Kennedy, end of story.

But how do you know that Buddy wasn’t the other shooter on the grassy knoll? Were you there? Do you have firsthand knowledge the rest of us are unaware of?

Inquiring minds need to know these things.

If Buddy Hield had been the 2nd shooter, there would be buckshot spread all over hell’s half-acre.

And he would have been pissed that he wasn’t the primary shooter.

Chuck Goners is: The Rifleman.

I am still waiting on (and hoping for) prolonged evidence that Fox can co-exist and still be at his best with a ball-handling backcourt partner that can co-exist with Fox and still be at their best.

Fox and Hali wound up being sort of redundant when they were on the floor together. They more took a backseat to each other instead of feeding off of and benefitting from each other. Now we see Mitchell’s game take a step while Fox is absent. Can Mitchell maintain this level alongside Fox? Can Fox maintain his most recent levels while playing alongside Mitchell? Hope springs eternal, but if/when it happens, it will be something that we have not yet really seen from the Fox/Mitchell duo.

He was also better than two lottery picks taken in front of him . Wagner 8, Suggs 5 . Suggs a major disappointment shooting 38 and 20 on 2’s and 3’s . He was the best player on a National Champ and no other King has !

To paraphrase the late, great Bob Saget: “I’ve got the heart of a champion and the body of a 16 year old…and they’re both in the trunk of my car and I want you to see them right after the show.”
