As mentioned by pookey dun (sorry!) in the diaries, ESPN's Chad Ford posted a Ron-Ron rumor on Friday:
Sura is cap relief, Snyder will get $2.3 million next year and is a restricted free agent next summer, and Spanoulis is locked in for $1.9 million in 2007-08 with a $2 million team option for 2008-09. The Rockets have the #26 pick in the draft.Snyder, a 24-year-old off-guard, was buried in Houston last year after turning up a decent-to-good 2005-06 in New Orleans. Snyder got less than 600 minutes in Houston, but played over 2,000 the two previous seasons. In those two seasons, he was a credible long-range threat (something the Kings need off the bench) and a somewhat aggressive scorer. But he's pissed off two straight coaches — Byron Scott and Jeff Van Gundy — so something's gotta be wrong, right?
Point guard Spanoulis is the more intriguing prospect to me, possibly because he's more mysterious. He only got a pittance of 272 minutes over 31 games this season for Houston, his first stateside campaign. His stats say he was terrible — bad shooting percentages, high turnover rate, nothing stand-out on defense. But his previous work in Greece tells the opposite story, and Jeff Van Gundy reportedly didn't care for Span's style. (Surprise.) And the kid's 24, so yay.
The #26 pick this season could net some of the following players: DeVon Hardin, Marcus Williams, Marco Belinelli, Jared Dudley, Daquean Cook, Morris Almond, Marc Gasol, Kyrylo Fesenko, Petteri Koponen, Sean Williams, Aaron Gray.
Do you do it?
