… but Justin Williams can rebound.
It's not the 11 overall rebounds that catches your eye. It's the seven offensive rebounds, which comes out to an estimated offensive rebound rate of 25% for Justin. As in, he converted 25% of all offensive rebound opportunities when he was on the floor.
Yeah, summer league, bleh. But his OReb rate during the regular season last year was over 15%. Dude can board.
As to the things we were looking for:
Francisco Garcia did not shoot particularly well. But he ran the team and got to the line a ridiculous amount. I'll take it. Maybe that first quarter was his slow start for the year.
Spencer Hawes didn't take care of the ball particularly well. He had seven turnovers to one assist. But by anecdote, he did pass well and by statistics, he scored like a beast. It might be worth mentioning that Greg Oden went 6/2 in his debut and Shawes went 19/9. Maybe not, though.
And Williams at the line? Erm… Three for eight. Is it the Red Bull he drinks before every game? At my college restaurant job, I sometimes relied on Red Bull for lunch shifts. I remember dropping a fajita plate during one such post-Red Bull jitters fit. (I've told this story here before.) I can't imagine shooting free throws all geeked up on Angus semen. Seems difficult.
Here's the full box score for the Kings so you don't have to go hunting.
Next game is Tuesday at 1 pm Pacific against the Wizards.
