On Sunday, we saw what a healthy Yao Ming could do, as he and Tracy McGrady thumped the Kings in a lopsided second half as the Rockets pulled away from what had at first looked like a close contest.
So, I know what you're thinking… "Are there any other 7 foot players coming out of China with serious hoop skills the Kings could get their hands on in the upcoming draft?"
The answer is yes. The Kings are slotted with the 9th overall pick today, based on their record, and a pair of mock drafts, from NBADraft.net and DraftExpress.com show that picking up 19 year old 7 foot power forward Yi Jianlian is a very real possibility. While NBADraft.net has Jianlian going to the Bobcats at #5, DraftExpress.com has him falling to the Kings. Whoever does end up with Jianlian is said to be taking a risky pick, but with tremendous upside potential.
NBADraft.net in turn has the Kings taking sophomore Julian Wright of Kansas, 6 foot 8 small forward. The site describes Wright as "… a tremendous passer able to make impressive plays … Unselfish player who gets his teammates involved in the offense."
Hmmm. Unselfish. I don't follow. The Kings wouldn't want somebody like that, would they?
While popular to wish for the Greg Oden or Kevin Durant era to start in 2007-08, its very likely the Kings will not be in the top 3 slots. Who do you like at #8 or #9? Are these two mockups off the mark?
