With 53.4% of the vote, Cameron Boozer is second off the board for the Kings Herald Community Draft Board. He joins AJ Dybantsa.
This is the readership’s opportunity to create a democratic draft board which represents the order in which we as a collective would like the Kings’ draft board to look like. It does not represent the desires of individual writers or fans, but some semblance of the community’s collective thinking.
When a choice comes up, pick who you’d want the Kings to pick given all the players remaining. Note: THIS IS NOT A MOCK DRAFT. This is a draft board, a ranked list of prospects you’d like to see the Kings pick. In other words, if we were the Kings front office, when our pick came up, we’d take the top name left on our board. So pick your choice, not who you think Scott Perry or anyone else would choose in a slot.
Explain your choice in the comments, and lobby for who should be added to the next pick’s choices. We’ll be doing this every weekday morning over the next few weeks.

Have to go with Darryn Peterson here. The injury stuff is weird and concerning but every time I’ve watched him play I’ve come away really impressed. If that is how good he is without really even being healthy, he has a chance to be very, very good. He also kind of gives me Kawhi Leonard vibes in terms of personality.
I do think this talk of him being a PG at the next level is overblown. He’s a scorer and maybe he develops into a secondary playmaker but I don’t see him as anything but a SG at the NBA level. I do think he has some defensive chops as well but it’s his scoring that is going to make him a special player.
I have been in lockstep with you through three picks, which should make both of us very nervous. He could very well be the next Ant – “red flags” prior to the draft but winds up being top of his class. He’s a knife that I would definitely catch at 7 (or 5, or 3).
Going with Wilson. The potential and the motor are there. Super impressed with recent clips of him shooting threes and making a bunch in a row. Really looks like he was working on his 3 while he was out due to injury.
Wilson for me. I think he has physical tools, he just needs to learn more basic fundamentals, especially defensively…I just hope he isn’t “2 years away from being 2 years away”.
would you all trade Lavine for Fox? Spurs are going to max out Wemby and Castle and now Harper looks for real.
Under different circumstances I would; but I think Fox would be none too happy. With LaVine expiring, I would now be more inclined to let the money fall off the books unless someone else will give up draft capital for him by the deadline.
no shot, that is going to be an atrocious contract, they would have to toss in picks
The question is straight up – Lavine for Fox – yay or nay
big fat NAY
Fox will be making $61 million in the 2029-30 season. No thanks.
Going Mikel Brown Jr now until he’s off the board. He’s one I think will be the third best player in redrafts next year.
Better or worse than De’Angelo Russell?
Or Malik Monk – who’s better ?
Clear to me
That it’s Wilson at 3!
With the flow and ebb
You are taking Caleb
I see prodigious talent with D(N)P – but talent is only one phase of a players’ skill set. Is he AntMan or is he Ben Simmons? Is his head there along with his body?
With other enticing talents still on the board, I am going with Caleb Wilson, and I might go Point Guard at #4.
As we are Kings drafting here, I am especially wary of Peterson. Is this the environment where he will excel (can anyone? Yes! self starters and strong drive can overcome Vivek, Matina, Perry and Christie- but it ain’t easy)?
I had seen someone had likened DP to Zach Lavine – think about draft night when Zach Lavine was selected by the Timberwolves. That is the reaction I would expect from Peterson if he is drafted to Sac
D(N)P is a hilarious nickname for him
Wilson seems to have that drive. He played for a while with a broken hand because he wanted to help the team win. It seems like all he has done since the surgery is to work on his game.
Caleb Wilson.. great fit for team has great upside and think he will be a great pick. But we still need a PG…
Dennis Schroeder might be available…again!
What’s sad, is there are actually some decent PGs in free agency this year. Guys like Dosumno, Coby White, and Sexton, but the Kings can’t afford them. They are more likely to get a guy Tyus Jones on a vet minimum deal.
Well, when we draft a pg at 7 you don’t really want one of those other guys that are starting level
Signing DS to that awful deal has consequences, but hey Scott Perry is a genius. How do I know local media keeps telling me so
“You know, Scott was the architect that brought in George Hill, Zach Randolph, and Vince Carter. He was also here when Fox was drafted”…
Tough call, but I’m going with Wilson here because I think both him and DP have similar ceilings overall but I like Wilson’s projection more as a 2 way player. Obviously, DPs ceiling is higher on offense.
Keegan and Wilson as switchable forwards in today’s NBA is a dream pairing so for me he satisfied BPA, team need and fit. DPs injuries and statements give me pause here, but he will no doubt be my pick for #4. Even though I prefer Wilson, DP feels like a steal at 3 or 4 while Wilson seems like a safer pick.
Wilson for me. As a freakish athlete, he has the tools to excel.
It’s between Wilson and Peterson for me right now. Both show trendemdous upside, but also have inherent flaws that could derail them. They could be the next ANT and Chris Bosh or be the next McLemore and Stomile Swift. None are as sure a thing as Boozer.
From all that I’m going with Wilson because the mysteries around Peterson are, at the moment, too much to ignore. Should we get some info from interviews and/or workouts then they may flip positions, but today it’s Wilson.
Brown, Burries and Lendeborg would be my next adds to the ballot, though I am likely to vote for the current five on the ballot before getting to any of these guys. I know that we have members that like at least Brown and Lendeborg.
OT: Draft lottery reform officially passes.
What a stupid system. The reality is, had Hali not been hurt and had Utah not openly sat their stars, the Kings would have had a bottom 3 record without even tanking. The Kings were just a bad team and under the new system would have a 71% chance of picking 6-12. Historically bad run franchises will have deeper holes to climb out of.
Here’s an idea, how about punish the owners instead of the fanbase? Take away revenue sharing from the bottom 3 teams instead of kneecapping the roster of talent.

Yeah, that will never happen. I can’t see owners approving a system that lowers their revenue.
The answer is to exclude the final 8 teams in the playoffs from the lottery and everyone else goes in evenly. You can seed the second round by record.
I predict 7-8 players in this draft will ultimately be better players than Boozer.
that’s atrocious too, the answer is what the nfl does, it creates parity through draft, salary cap and scheduling.
Silver also announced the league will be transitioning to an AI automated call review system.
New batch of guys to workout for the Kings. Alex Karaban is the first guy to come in that’s mocked in the first round in most drafts. He’s also a senior.
And Fears, Chinyelu, Momcilovic, and…Stojakovic are heading back to school. I guess they read Akis’ post and said “Hell naw, i ain’t taking my chances getting drafted by the Kangz.”
Conwell could be an interesting 2nd round pick.
Karaban will be nearly 24 at the start of the season. He’ll fit right in.
interesting. Another teammate of a potential pick at #7.
The two left with most star potential in my opinion are Wilson and Acuff . Seems Acuff is more star ready so I take him !
