I am ready…..
Go, Kings !
And pick Ron Holland.
I am rooting for Holland too. I don’t want to talk myself into being glad the Kings took Edey.
Holland continues to slide on draft boards. I wonder why and hope it’s not a falling knife situation.
Halliburton was a falling knife that we got that worked out. I’m hoping for the same situation here.
He didn’t fall at all. He went right around where he was projected, its just a number of us here had him much higher on their draft boards.
Also, keep in mind that Holland was #1 on a lot of boards a year ago.
If there’s one thing that doesn’t compel me on draft night it’s “what did people think of you in high school?”
If you falter the moment you get to a higher level of competition, I don’t give a crap what your high school mixtape looked like. I’ve heard someone say “high school pedigree” the other day lmao. Pedigree? Against 15 year olds? Gimme a break.
TRob & McLemore were falling knives who didn’t work out.
Yup.
Haliburton was a far more refined player than Holland
He can’t shoot the 3, can’t dribble, and can’t create for himself.
I thought Bagley was in the 2018 draft?
Fully expecting to be dissapointed after the pick is an undersized guard!
Clingan rocking the Frankenstein-in-a-tux look. Cool, cool.
Isn’t the venue looks smaller ?
I prefer the previous one, with some round table….
Lol
Can we get another Tyrese Haliburton in the late lottery? It’d be real nice to have a fighting chance at the second round of the playoffs.
I don’t see that kind of guy in this draft at #13.
In Monte we Trust.
A draft year Haliburton would be the concensus #1 in this class of yuck.
Kangz fan’s spinchters are puckered up in anticipation of the 13th pick.
Let go trade!
Silver congratulates the Celtics and gets relentlessly booed hahahaha
I still find it hilarious that the most progressive, “urban”-focused professional sports league in America has the absolute most uncool, dorky, CPA-impersonating commissioner in America, and the guy is absolutely killing it. It takes a Nixon to go to China!
This has been quite a funny draft so far.
Before we get underway I’ll just say that I think Stephon Castle has a high chance of ending up the best player in this draft and in retrospect make all of us go “yeah, we probably should’ve seen that coming…”
It wouldn’t surprise me if that happens, but he’ll need to shoot better.
Big guard, defends 3 positions at a high level, dribbling and playmaking skills, can finish at the rim, an absolute DAWG and a WINNER. He’s a 20+ mpg rotation player TODAY and he’s 19 years old. If the shot comes around he can be an All-Star. I’ll bet on that any day.
He’ll be fine as a secondary playmaker, but he’d need to be a better playmaker to be good enough to be a primary playmaker.
I agree. He calls himself a PG but I think he’s a playmaking wing – which is a compliment!
Camera pans to a Hawks fan chugging a beer with his head tipped all the way back like a six-year-old kid hahaha
And after the first pick is announced, the camera cuts to the same guy chugging some more.
WOW……..a bit surprise by the Hawks
I’ve seen rumors that it’d happen for a few days.
Then the 2nd pick is a pretty easy choice…(Only if Divac is not the GM of the Wizards)
I commend this analyst crew for being able to feign excitement about these guys.
A sad crew of analysts put forth by espn/abc.
So are we of the belief that we’re drafting a player for us or the player other teams would most want to trade for?
Unless Topic, Holland, or Cody Williams is there, I’m betting trade.
I really don’t see how Topic helps this current Kings squad.
I don’t see how Holland or Williams does either lol
Holland would probably be helpful on defense, but he’d hurt the offense unless he becomes better on offense (esp. in terms of shooting).
I’m hoping the latter
I have no idea. However, my impression is that most teams aren’t interested in trading for the prospects in this draft.
It’s starts to get exciting after the 2nd pick….
It’s le french takeover.
The French Revolution!
Her name is Monica McNutt?
Rough childhood.
One, two, and three with no surprises.
Isn’t Donovan Clingan rumored to be picked by the Rockets ?
Not sure. My knowledge of this draft is only three picks deep.
If Sheppard was three inches taller he’s probably the #1 pick by a mile
He’s a John Stockton type but a better shooter and Stockton was a good shooter
A more athletic Mark Price.
maybe Brent Price
My concern, like everyone, is that he isn’t a good enough playmaker to be a PG which makes him a very undersized 2. That makes you wonder if he will hold up defensively, despite the fact he was a very solid defensive player in college.
I hope there isn’t a trade for Kuzma once we get on the clock.
He is a like a bacon cheeseburger. There is bacon and cheese on it, but it is still just a hamburger.
I feel like at this point so many people have complained so vociferously for so long about McNair needing to just make a damn trade already that they’ve relinquished the right to complain about what that trade actually is.
(I know that won’t stop them, but I would at least like, I don’t know, a three-day moratorium on the complaints, at least.)
If the Kings traded for PG13, they’d still complain.
That’s hogwash. IE-bullshit. For the most part, this site complains when something is bad. It’s not a terribly overreactive sight. .
Oh I see. We can only fan how is acceptable to you.
People should be complaining about how McNaor handled
last year. They went backwards.
Im gonna bitch about Monte is he fucks up and praise him when he does well.
It’s all acceptable.
It’s acceptable, you just make yourself look silly when you do it.
Complaining about how much he complains and then complaining that he isn’t allowed to complain as he complains. It’s next-level stuff.
Well, I wasn’t talking about one person. He just invited himself in.
Someone is taking a shot at your title.
Ha. Correct.
whatcha gonna do when the (perceived) negative police comes for you
First off, I don’t do it- I complain and question when necessary.
Critical thinking is scary to some.
And Apparently to waaaay too many people out in the world
I am not a complainer about a lack of trades. Activity without accomplishment is how mediocrity stays mediocre. We have Vlade to prove it. I want the team to be good for a decade, not just next season.
Anyone have ideas on what the Knicks plan might be?
Start Barnes at SG until Often Gimpy Anunoby goes down then move him to SF for the 25 games he is out?
Where does Julius “Dollar Store Elvin Hayes” Randle fit in? What could they get back for him? I could see Detroit being interested in him.
Sounds like Hartenstein gonna re-sign w NYK too. IE- they are doing all the right things.
Spurs making smart choices as always.
Would that made Vassel available ?
I doubt it.
Castle
Vassell
???
Sochan
Wemby
Spurs are gonna be a problem
In a few years
Keldon Johnson or whoever they get at 8.
Stephom Castle is leading the draft in hugs.
Holland at 5!
And….Holland is off the board
Pistons needs shooting, and they draft Holland…
Fuxk…………………
Fuxk the Pistons !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I, too, am vexed when others do not do what I, personally, wish them to do.
The Pistons keep hitting it under the park with their draft picks.
So much for the Holland slide.
Ron Holland! Oh my God!
That’s a surprise.
Holland at 5 is definitely a shake up!
Rising knife!
Now I have no clue who I want for the Kings at 13.
BSPN : Woj reporting the Pistons are “focused” on Ron Holland.
Why can’t they just let the millions of fans watching watch without spoiling it?!
So, isn’t ESPN just said the Pistons is linked with a trade (with the Kings ?)
But the Pistons decided to keep the pick…
So, did that imply the Kings want Holland ?
Hornets trading #6 for #9
Now they are not, srug?
Cade, Ivey, and Holland just gonna take turns driving into 5 defenders in the paint lol
Haha. What a sad franchise.
Cade, Ivey, and Holland just gonna take turns driving into 5 defenders in the paint lol
While Duran clogs it all up.
We now need Matas Buzelis or Donovan Clingan
Salaun is gonna be the bust of the draft
Spurs got two hoopers
ESPN just said the T-Wovles get the 9th pick
nvm…Dillingham headed to Minny
wow….here come a jump….Dillingham at #8
Think I’ll turn on ESPN, Bob Meyers never shuts up.
He and Stephen A. are terrible
Zach Edey bpa if he’s there.
Thank God Edey is off the board.
Eddy gone at 9. Wow!
WHAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Grizzles !!!!!!!!!!
OMG, Edey to the Grizz
Buzelis, Topic, Williams, Knecht and Carter still on the board and at least 3 will still be on the board for the Kings. This has ended up an EXCELLENT pick.
Edey Salaun and Hollander gone. Will Knecht fall? If not take DaRon
Edey is gone. Memphis got him at 9.
Also Dillingham is going to Minnesota.
Wizards trade Deni Avdija to Portland for Malcom Brogdon and #14 pick. Makes me wonder now if Kuzma is still available. Did Kings offer Heurter or Barnes and #13 for Avija? I’d have made that deal.
I may get sick of the Kings take Topic at #13
me too….
Edey Salaun and Holland gone. Will Knecht fall? If not take DaRon
Damn…would’ve gotten hyped is Buzelis fell…
Damn…would’ve gotten hyped if Buzelis fell…
KNECHT!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!
Ok. Take Knecht
Better be a trade on deck smh
Getting an NBA player with a lottery pick in a weak draft should be considered a success and Devin Carter is 100% an NBA player. He’s like Caruso or Josh Hart imo.
But the Kings now have 6 guards that could all compete for playing time in Fox, Monk, Huerter, Keon, Colby, and Carter. Monte MUST consolidate this talent in a way that balances the roster.
Nonetheless, getting Day 1 rotation players on rookie scale deals is a win. Monte has continued to collect talent. Excited to have Carter who’s one of the few true two-way players in the draft.
The major downside, though, is Knecht is now a Laker and I hate how good a pick that is for them.
Agree with all of it. Monte will package up a couple of these guys and turn it into something good. Hey, even Monk is on a very reasonable deal…
Knecht, Reaves, Russell don’t play defense, and Rui doesn’t play much either.
How are you so sure he is a rotational nba player that is ready to contribute when he hasn’t played a second in the league. We don’t need another under-sized gaurd. A trade must be coming with either him or Davion.
Considering that exactly zero draft picks have ever played in the NBA, that kind of a tough bar to reach. But in this case, pretty much every every analyst has said that’s the case. Not just good, but two-way good. And it probably allows us to turn Ellis into a high-value trade chip. Monte is really good and taking what falls to him. Now just make a trade for a big.
I’m guessing that most of the Kings G’s don’t have much trade value.
Caruso and Hart are around 6’5.
6’2 is short af for a guy who is supposed to be a defense first player.
6’9 wingspan helps.
Carter has a 6’9″ wingspan, so he has enough size. The problem is that the Kings didn’t need another G.
But Hart can cover 3/4 even switch on almost anyone. 6-2 can’t do that I doubt. Even with long arms
And they got what they don’t need. They need long wings and 4
I agree w/that, which is why I wrote “The problem is that the Kings didn’t need another G.“
Caruso is 6’4″ in socks with a 6’6″ wingspan and 36″ vert. Carter is 6’2″ in socks with a 6’8″ wingspan and 42″ vert. He can play just as big as Caruso. Carter has quicker lateral movement too on the shuttle run.
Caruso plays in the NBA well.
Carter has never done it.
Davion 2.0
Davion’s biggest shortcoming, pun fully intended, is his size. Carter is way bigger and longer than Davion.
…can he play SF?
A 6’2 SF
If there’s trades in the works, fine. Otherwise this roster is insanely unbalanced.
P.S. The site is as broken as I can ever recall, including the STR days.
Might be saving me from reading a ton of terrible takes.
Agreed and the interface they use sucks compared to the SB Nation sites.
This site is clunky and has a mind of it’s own.
Hate complaining about site but really a bummer to not be able to discuss draft and……what exactly is Monte doing?
Boo! P unless there is a trade pending I do not like this pic. It’s not Marvin Bagley bad but it does not make sense. I’m a little bit disillusioned.
