Holland continues to slide on draft boards. I wonder why and hope it’s not a falling knife situation.

He didn’t fall at all. He went right around where he was projected, its just a number of us here had him much higher on their draft boards.

If there’s one thing that doesn’t compel me on draft night it’s “what did people think of you in high school?”

If you falter the moment you get to a higher level of competition, I don’t give a crap what your high school mixtape looked like. I’ve heard someone say “high school pedigree” the other day lmao. Pedigree? Against 15 year olds? Gimme a break.

Can we get another Tyrese Haliburton in the late lottery? It’d be real nice to have a fighting chance at the second round of the playoffs.

Big guard, defends 3 positions at a high level, dribbling and playmaking skills, can finish at the rim, an absolute DAWG and a WINNER. He’s a 20+ mpg rotation player TODAY and he’s 19 years old. If the shot comes around he can be an All-Star. I’ll bet on that any day.

My concern, like everyone, is that he isn’t a good enough playmaker to be a PG which makes him a very undersized 2. That makes you wonder if he will hold up defensively, despite the fact he was a very solid defensive player in college.

I feel like at this point so many people have complained so vociferously for so long about McNair needing to just make a damn trade already that they’ve relinquished the right to complain about what that trade actually is.

(I know that won’t stop them, but I would at least like, I don’t know, a three-day moratorium on the complaints, at least.)

Anyone have ideas on what the Knicks plan might be?

Start Barnes at SG until Often Gimpy Anunoby goes down then move him to SF for the 25 games he is out?

Where does Julius “Dollar Store Elvin Hayes” Randle fit in? What could they get back for him? I could see Detroit being interested in him.

Buzelis, Topic, Williams, Knecht and Carter still on the board and at least 3 will still be on the board for the Kings. This has ended up an EXCELLENT pick.

Also Dillingham is going to Minnesota.

Wizards trade Deni Avdija to Portland for Malcom Brogdon and #14 pick. Makes me wonder now if Kuzma is still available. Did Kings offer Heurter or Barnes and #13 for Avija? I’d have made that deal.

Getting an NBA player with a lottery pick in a weak draft should be considered a success and Devin Carter is 100% an NBA player. He’s like Caruso or Josh Hart imo.

But the Kings now have 6 guards that could all compete for playing time in Fox, Monk, Huerter, Keon, Colby, and Carter. Monte MUST consolidate this talent in a way that balances the roster.

Nonetheless, getting Day 1 rotation players on rookie scale deals is a win. Monte has continued to collect talent. Excited to have Carter who’s one of the few true two-way players in the draft.

The major downside, though, is Knecht is now a Laker and I hate how good a pick that is for them.

Agree with all of it. Monte will package up a couple of these guys and turn it into something good. Hey, even Monk is on a very reasonable deal…

Knecht, Reaves, Russell don’t play defense, and Rui doesn’t play much either.

How are you so sure he is a rotational nba player that is ready to contribute when he hasn’t played a second in the league. We don’t need another under-sized gaurd. A trade must be coming with either him or Davion.

Considering that exactly zero draft picks have ever played in the NBA, that kind of a tough bar to reach. But in this case, pretty much every every analyst has said that’s the case. Not just good, but two-way good. And it probably allows us to turn Ellis into a high-value trade chip. Monte is really good and taking what falls to him. Now just make a trade for a big.

I’m guessing that most of the Kings G’s don’t have much trade value.

Caruso and Hart are around 6’5.
6’2 is short af for a guy who is supposed to be a defense first player.

Carter has a 6’9″ wingspan, so he has enough size. The problem is that the Kings didn’t need another G.

But Hart can cover 3/4 even switch on almost anyone. 6-2 can’t do that I doubt. Even with long arms

And they got what they don’t need. They need long wings and 4

Caruso is 6’4″ in socks with a 6’6″ wingspan and 36″ vert. Carter is 6’2″ in socks with a 6’8″ wingspan and 42″ vert. He can play just as big as Caruso. Carter has quicker lateral movement too on the shuttle run.

Davion’s biggest shortcoming, pun fully intended, is his size. Carter is way bigger and longer than Davion.

Keon, Jones, Duarte, and Davion should be gone now.

One or two of them are worth something in a trade. Package some players and go get a power forward. Or go buy one.

Do something to win.

I don’t think anyone is going to trade for Huerter until they see him play again.

They definitely don’t. Jones, Duarte, and Davion could find themselves looking for a spot somewhere in the summer league.

Keon and Huerter packaged with Barnes or someone else is a start.

Very confusing. Picking Carter? Unless there are deals it’s odd at best.

Small guard? If he was 6/4-6 maybe. But odd.

Monte the contrarian? West get better, so he takes a step back. Teams going for length/switchable, he accumulates short guys.

I wanted Holmes, since Holland & Edey were gone, but this kid is an NBA player. Some of the people who will go away to make room for him may surprise you.

And with a 6’9″ wingspan, he will be very disruptive as a defender.

I think every basketball player over the age of sixteen and under 6’4” should be given a Kings hat and a personal invitation to the next draft.

Written in the invitation…

”You will always have a home with us.”

Puzzling, but it looks like Monte went the BPA route, at least by his figuring. Interested to see how he clears out all the guard underbrush and finds a 4 that’s starter caliber and not a 7-8 guy who’s in the starting 5 out of necessity vs. skill.

He now has five redundant players to do something with.

Carter doses look like a good guard. At least he picked an athlete that has potential.
