Barring trades, the Sacramento Kings hold picks 24, 38, and 54 in tonight’s NBA Draft. Use this thread to discuss picks and trades throughout the night, and we will post updates if there’s any Kings-specific news regarding trades or picks.
Go Kings!
The Pizza Guys combo is ordered, my body is ready.
I’ll be the judge of that… Oh wait!
My hunch is that they draft someone that none of us are expecting…
It’s has been a long long time that I did not take vocation leave and stay at home to watch the live draft..(always feels anxious and nervous and excited everytime when we going to draft someone)
As this is the first time that we finally not in the lottery position….
I shall watch the replay, anyway…
yeah, I think I have enough time to commute home, go cycling, do my laundry, get some produce at the farmer’s market, stroll down to the local pub and order a beer before the Kings pick.
At least two hours in, right? And that’s once the picking starts.
yeah, but the laundry machine is in use. still time for some videography. thinking of bringing a 24 prime, 35 prime (about 38 mm with a 1.1 crop) and a 55 prime.
Well, it’s going to Ayton or Luka. Oh, wait…
Anybodybutbagley!
You had me at “Oh, wait….”
The Ayton situation is interesting, because the league knows that Phoenix needs live bodies more than anything, and may not not have to hand over a king’s ransom under the circumstances.
Assuming he’s around, does anyone think Leonard Miller is a possibility? He’s raw, and only shot about thirty percent from three last season, but damned near eighty percent from the line. He doesn’t solve all problems, but he grabs offensive boards like…well, not Kevon Looney, but pretty effectively, nonetheless.
He has a chance to eventually be a starter as much as anyone else that could be available at 24. 6’10” with a 7’2″ wingspan at forward, that’s worth a look.
I think he’d be a possibility if he’s available, but I doubt that he’ll be available.
I’m not a fan. Makes bad decisions, poor awareness and feel for the game – not things that are easily fixed. Couple that with bad shooting and I’m out. Maybe at #38 but not #24.
Agreed on all points.
Vic=tor went number 1?
Curveball
Shocking!
Pretty cool to see Wemby there with his siblings.
Texas is embarrassing
Who was the clown in the jorts and Spurs jersey?
He’s a college football and NASCAR guy for ESPN
That explains a lot.
PDX is going to have to move someone. Dame, Simons, Sharpe and now Scoot in the backcourt
It seems like moving Dame would be the best move.
Agreed. They can rebuild very fast with the youth they have.
How do you guys feel about the 24th pick and Holmes for John collins? Maybe include our late 2nd rounder if we have to?
I’d that everyday of the week, but I don’t think ATL will.
Well there are reports that they mavs are in the running for Collins. Their offer is Davis Bertrans which is a salary dump and swapping their 10th pick for the Hawks 15th pick. Wouldn’t our offer be better?
Bertrans contract is worse, but maybe there is someone they really want at #10?
I didn’t consider the fact they might have a player they really coveted at 10. It seems like a lot to pay to move up 5 spots though. Especially considering the fact they would be taking on Bertrans contract.
I think the pick swap would make the Mavs offer better.
I guess it depends if you think the 15th pick, 24th pick, and maybe even our 38th pick is less valuable than the 10th pick and Bertrans contract. I think the kings offer would have a slight edge. We could even throw in the rights to the Euroleague MVP.
Bagley’s brother is available in this draft.
Does he go undrafted and Anjali picks him up to outsmart the ghost of Vlade?
So cool to see twins go back to back.
Thompson twins back to back. That’s quite the story.
Wondering why no one has suggested trading Sasha’s rights for a late first or to move up a few spots from 24?
Nobody is giving up a late 1st rounder for the rights of 27 year old Sasha who may or may not come over.
His rights are worth a late 2nd at best
I get that he might not be worth a late first, but he’s certainly worth more than a late second—that’s what the Kings gave up for him last year, and his value is higher now.
There is really no room to take on another project 2nd rounder when we already have the 38th pick. Unless we need the pick to use in a trade for collins or something.
No guarantee he comes over for the Kings this year, so zero chance he comes over for another team he has no relationship with. His recent accomplishments don’t change the value of his rights because it doesn’t make it more likely he comes to the nba.
These transactions don’t happen in a vacuum. If a team is going to trade for Sasha, they’ve been talking to him and know their chances of getting him. I doubt the Kings just took a flier on him when they picked up his rights last year—they did their homework had an idea that he’d be gettable in the right circumstances. If the Kings trade his rights, it will almost certainly be the result of a discussion that’s been going on for awhile, to a team who has a better idea of his interest than any of us are aware.
I guess that’s possible but a Euro-stashed player’s rights have never been traded for anything but mid to late 2nds.
Bogdan.
Package deal where his rights were seen as the least valuable of the pieces at the time. He had also made his intentions to come over clear well before the trade happened.
Holy shit, Bilal really did shoot up the draft boards. And to think, I thought the Kings should take him at #24 just a few weeks ago when he was mocked at the end of the first round.
Crazy fast up the boards
Well, he’s now being traded to the Wiz.
Wizards GM redeeming himself?
woah! yeah, you spotted him when he was a 2nd rounder.
Huh. That’s a bit earlier than I expected Bilal to be drafted.
Looks like Indy might have played the Wiz. They are still getting the guy they want but get some 2nd rounds picks to boot.
Smells like the Pacers knew the Wiz were really high in Bilal and scooped him up first.
Either way, Bilal would’ve gone a bit earlier than I expected. I’m not sure why the Wiz thought he’d be drafted by Indy.
Wembys 15 year old brother is already 6’5. What are they feeding those kids in france
Snails……Escargot
The Jazz are going to have a crazy tough front court. Kessler and Hendricks are going to cause nightmares for players trying to score at the rim
Amazing rebuild thus far by Ainge.
Fox will still score on them.
Boring draft thus far.
Dallas is dumping Bertans on OKC with the #10 for the #12.
wow, OKC getting Wallace? What does OKC want with a PG when they have SGA and Giddey?
I think he’s got a combo guard in him
Puzzled by the fit, but can’t really have too many young, physical, high IQ guards that can defend, shoot, and playmake.
Jett Howard went earlier than I think anybody though
I like how ESPN showed video of his footwork and conveniently leave out the extra step that should have been a travel
This ESPN draft coverage is trash.
Jett Howard at #11???? Wow, there are some dudes falling and some dudes rising!
first bad pick of the draft
I thought he would be there at #24, and I still didn’t want the Kings to take him if he was there.
had him at 42 on my board
Wowzers!
Magic need shooting bad so I see why they made this pick.
Grady Dick and Jordan Hawkins are right there
The Ringer had him mocked to us. Crazy jump up.
And how old are we? Juwan Howard’s son just go drafted. WTF
Yeah, that’s way too high, smacks of someone owing Juwan a favor.
We’ll see how he does without his daddy making the calls.
Cam Whitmore falling fast
Strange. I really like him. I thought he could go top 5.
there was an article earlier today stating this was a high possibility due to some bad workouts and effort concerns
just got home – is Cash Considerations still on the board?
I can almost guarantee he’ll be there at #54 for the Kings.
shoot – ‘almost guarantee’ has me worried! maybe Monte can packagesomething and move up to make sure
I think Dallas acquired his brother TBD
Lively to the Mavs, smart move as their bigs are not good.
Dallas gets their big man.
Not a fan of Lively, but I really appreciate the Thunder’s vision of a team of noodlemen. Just a forest of limbs on defense.
No chance that Whitmore falls into a place where the Kings could trade up, right? Right?
Toronto is going to draft a 6’7″ wing…right?
They drafted Dick, 6’8 wing. Close
Love the pick. Play finisher, team defender, rebounder, smart teammate, elite shooter. Barnes is gonna love this guy.
Team defender?
Raps take Gradey Dick…now go get OG.
Why wouldn’t the Raptors just want their core to be Barnes-Dick-OG? That’s a pretty great start on a perennial contender.
With Pascal at PF and Jakob at C? OG was their starting SG last year.
That’s a nasty starting 5
Gradey Dick could be a porn star with that jacket.
…and with that name.
Grade Y Dick. That’s down in salamander range.
I don’t know what it means, but I rec’d it anyway.
One of the worst fits I’ve ever seen in the draft lol
Trade up for Cam?
Yep. Give all three picks this year if need be. Concerned why Whitmore is dropping.
The word is medical reports.
It sounds like he had bad workouts & has medical concerns.
I like Hawkins. Pels got a good one there.
Our pick now starting to come into focus. Getting exciting. TJD and Sensabaugh are possibilities. A lot of guards out there. I hope the Kings get a big.
I hope it isn’t TJD.
Whitmore still falling.
I can see Miami grabbing him and setting him up with the “right” doctor to fix those medical concerns.
Not sure about the fit for the hawks with 2 ball dominant guards on the team already
I think the Hawks are going to blow it up here pretty quick. They have one of the highest payrolls next season and ATL doesn’t print money like other organizations.
True I’d have to think one or both of their 2 current guards might be gone soon. I’d imagine Tray could get them a decent haul
I’ve heard more rumors about Atlanta trading Murray.
Yeah I didn’t understand the trade to get him in the first place considering he’s a very good on the ball pg and kind of square pegging him off ball with tray there. Bufkin is probably a better fit with Tray as a combo/2guard
Think they wanted a defensive guard with him, because Trae is awful defensively.
Same, and I’d rather have Murray on my team than Trae
Danny Ainge ????
Adding Keyonte George is huge. Good lord the Jazz are going to be a problem in the coming years
Hood-Schifino probably has a top 5 mom in the league
She’s clean.
Cool landing spot for Jacquez
He seems like a perfect fit for the heat honestly with the system they have in place. Really love that pick for them and him
I like Jaquez, but I didn’t expect him to be picked ahead of Whitmore & Murray.
Heat know what they’re doing.
Yeah, I expect him to play well for them.
Miami just gets players, and JJJ is a player. Solid pick.
Fun player to watch at UCLA. Said in an interview (question was who do you compare yourself to) that he would like to play like Jimmy Butler.
Just a top notch org from top to bottom. He will be a great addition to their team
If the dubs don’t take Kris there’s a real chance he falls to 24 I think
Fuck, I hope they don’t take Kris.
Took B Pod
Couple picks away from having the twins! ????????????????????????
They take Cam
They take neither.
There are some talented dudes that will be there at 24 still.
Jaime Jacques looks like a Guy Fawkes mask came to life
