2016 NBA Draft: Sacramento Kings select Malachi Richardson with 22nd pick

By | 0 Comments | Mar 6, 2019

With the 22nd pick, which was acquired today from Charlotte for Marco Belinelli, the Kings select Syracuse's Malachi Richardson. The Kings took Richardson with Timothé Luwawu and Demetrius Jackson still on the board, both players rated highly on Sactown Royalty's community draft board.

Richardson is a 6'6 wing player who averaged 13.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.2 steals as a Freshman for Syracuse last year. However he did shoot only 36.9% from the field overall. DraftExpress notes Richardson's excellent size and scoring instincts, as well as his defensive potential. From DraftExpress:

I'd also recommend SB Nation's own scouting report on Richardson, in which he passes the eye test, even if the numbers don't back it up.

The Sacramento Kings still have the 28th and 59th picks in tonight's draft.
