2015 NBA Draft: Willie Cauley-Stein and Cameron Payne coming for Sacramento’s third workout

By | 0 Comments | Mar 5, 2019

For those waiting on the Kings to start bringing in some bigger names to their workouts, there's some good news. The Kings announced today that they will be bringing in Kentucky's Willie Cauley-Stein and Murray State's Cameron Payne in for a workout on this Thursday, June 11th.

Both Cauley-Stein and Payne appear to be in play for Sacramento at the 6th pick. Cauley-Stein is thought to be the "overwhelming favorite" for the Sacramento Kings, but given the interest both the Knicks and Magic have shown in him, there's no guarantee that he'll even be available for Sacramento to pick.

Cameron Payne on the other hand is quickly rising up draft boards, including holding workouts with teams above the Kings in the draft lottery. That seems to indicate a slide for once hot prospect Emmanuel Mudiay, who played professionally in China last season. Mudiay isn't working out for teams outside of the top four of the lottery, and it remains to be seen if that will help or hurt his draft prospects. Payne has been mentioned as a darkhorse candidate for Sacramento, and could prove to be the pick, especially if Cauley-Stein is off the board.
