The Kings have reportedly made their first new addition in Free Agency, signing former Raptors forward Jonathan Mogbo (pronounced Mo-bow) to a two- way contract.  Mogbo was drafted by the Raptors with the 31st pick in the 2024 NBA draft and has played limited minutes over the last couple of years. He’s a 6’9 defensive-minded forward.  His career highlight so far was a late season triple-double against the Charlotte Hornets in his rookie season where he tallied 17 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds but he hasn’t come anywhere close to that level of production since.

This is a decent flier for the Kings, who could always use more length and versatility in the frontcourt. Mogbo will likely spend some time with the Stockton Kings, but we’ve seen the Kings use their two-way players extensively over the last few years, with several eventually being converted to standard contracts (Keon Ellis and Dylan Cardwell being the main examples).  In fact, one of the two-way players from last year, Daeqwon Plowden is reportedly under consideration to be signed to a real contract for the upcoming season.

In other Kings free agency news, the Kings did decline the team option on Killian Hayes so with the re-signing of Precious Achiuwa and the expected signing of Emanuel Sharp to a real contract, the Kings roster stands at 13 players.  Waiving DeMar DeRozan would bring them down to 12 players.  It also sounds like the Jalen Duren discussions don’t seem to be going anywhere either, as the Pistons are reportedly uninterested in discussing Sign & Trade scenarios and don’t want Domantas Sabonis back.
