Update: 10 pm
The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Sacramento Kings 128-104 Sunday.
Sacramento turned the ball over 20 times, giving up 27 points off those turnovers. The Kings shot 23 percent from three and the Lakers shot 46 percent from three.
Nique Clifford led the Kings in scoring with 26 points, to go along with 7 rebounds and 4 assists in 42 minutes. DeMar DeRozan again seemed to defer shots to the youngsters, only taking 5 shots for 9 points and adding 8 assists. Maxime Raynaud had 16 points and 13 rebounds.
The Kings sit at 14-48, retaining the 15th spot in the Western Conference.
From Earlier Preview:
I’m not optimistic that these lowly Kings will defeat the Lakers tonight, but an opponent this detestable allows one to turn off their preference for losing and praise the outcome, whatever it may be.
Who: Sacramento Kings (14-47) vs. Los Angeles Lakers (35-24)
Where: Crypto.com Arena, Los Angeles, CA
When: 6:30 PM PT / 9:30 AM ET
Watch: NBCSCA / League Pass
The Kings are in L.A. tonight to play a team I can’t help but root against whenever the opportunity presents itself, who also happens to be on the second night of a back-to-back: the Lakers.
Unfortunately the Kings’ lineup right now is closer to G-League quality than NBA quality. That is an exaggeration, but only barely.
The Lakers have not submitted their injury report yet, but for the Kings, it remains lengthy. Veterans Domantas Sabonis, DeAndre Hunter, Keegan Murray, and Zach LaVine are all out, along with youngsters Dylan Cardwell and Isaiah Stevens. Expect another episode of the aging Russell Westbrook and DeMar DeRozan show, with some opportunities for the youth sprinkled on top. Just 21 more games of this. We can do it.
Prediction: Kings 113, Lakers 0

LA had lost three in a row;
Crushed the Dubs just one night ago.
Only sure things today:
We will chant “BEAT LA!”
And we still need for Vivek to go!
+1 Park the tank for this one!
Real conversation right now with Marty’s new girlfriend, a Kings fan.
“Let’s have date night in tonight, watch some tv with the dogs.”
”Ok. Kings-Lakers tonight.”
”Ugh. Let’s watch two episodes of Fallout.”
”Sounds good.”
Thank you out-of-town tech nerd for killing this rivalry.
Hey Doug! Start Carter instead of Westbrook tonight.
Marty’s new girlfriend gets jealous at Kayte because Kayte talks more than her and that Marty is reacting to Kayte.
Real-life scenario part 2
*edit
Marty’s new girlfriend is glad he’s yelling at Three Possession Kayte and not her.
She can’t hear you, Marty.
OT: I ran into a random Twitter debate about a “what if” between Tyreke Evans and Michael Carter-Williams, and let’s just say the comments and opinion weren’t to kind regarding the Kings history of player development for obvious reasons.

Any game against the L*kers is must-win, regardless of present record or what we are or aren’t playing for.
I hear by petition the league to allow both teams to lose tonight.
All those in favor?
Does Mark Jones realize he took time right before this game started to compliment on air the recent defense the Kings have been playing?
Westbrook has taken 5 shots but he has more turnovers than points.
Do the Kings have the only broadcast team where the color commentator speaks more than the person calling the game?
Embarrassing performance thus far.
I honestly believe it’s getting worse.
Sounds so good!
A lot of Spurs fans are not too happy with Fox’s play tonight. Just sayin’. I’ll show myself the door.
Thank God he doesn’t play for the Sacramento Kings anymore. That’s all that really matters.
No, what really matters is the absolute dumpster fire we got in return for Fox.
It’s the Kangz.
Nothing really matters.
You might want to take that up with the front office there the ones who make those decisions.
Mark and Kayte talked all game about great play recently by Kings players . I must not understand what the word ‘great ‘ should mean . Seems about 14 wins worth .
Someone call?
Queta went off last night for the Celtics.
I remember media members defending the Kings for cutting Queta to sign Javale McGee because the team was in win-now mode and didn’t have time to develop young guys.
I guess it’s good that he went to a Celtics team that was tanking the last 3 years and could afford to develop him into a starting level center.
A tale of divergent paths – Tyreke and Queta.
Queta gets cut by the Kings – which is a pro basketball career death sentence for many, and responds by lucking into a Boston team that decided they saw enough in him to roll the dice. He takes this to heart and works his butt off and when opportunity came knocking his hard work paid off. Great story. Maybe he was doing the hard work in Sac and he just needed more work and more time (because we all saw how slow he seemed two (2!) seasons ago) but it is easier to praise the likely fine tutelage he received with Stevens/Muzella and their development staff then the carousel of crud we see here in Sactown. Jordan Walsh – also drafted by the Kings – also showing value in Beantown.
I want to believe that the Kings have some farm system, is it Stockton? is it the development coaches? but they have placed us fans in a constant of blurry focus. Having the shifting coaching staff and roster does not help at all.
The other surprise showing this season has been from Phoenix. You have to look at their coaching and development system and applaud as well. They have Devin Booker, Dhillon Brooks and … Royce O’Neal, Greyson Allen, Mark Williams, Colin Gillespie, and …
Put that same roster in Sacramento (same Pacific Division) and what’s your record? When you are 14-48 you have to question the coaching just as much as the roster. And no, I am not questioning Rick Carlisle and the Pacers who went the full 7 games in the NBA Finals last season.
Yeah, the expertise, coaching, and system and Boston cannot be overstated. Jaylen Brown and a bunch of role players have taken the Celtics to near the top of the East. No one expected that an many figured this would be a gap year, much like Indy, but Boston turned those expectations upside down. Stevens/Muzula are squeezing every ounce of basketball out of the likes of Queta, Pritchard, Hauser, etc.
They are the anit-Kings in roster construction and performance.
So Russ going to be our mentor PG for next season too?
On latest Pod, Simmons and Lowe discussing how long until Russ ends up being our GM.
Fuck Vivek! Sell the team!
I sure hope Russ isn’t with Sac next year.
It seems pretty clear the other 29 teams have no interest in him.
I saw something saying he’s coming back for $20mil a year. Probably fake news but scary because the Kangz would actually do it. Guy has no place in today’s NBA, not this year or next year, not on a contender or young team.
You age out quick when you don’t adapt or change your game at all. Athleticism and effort don’t make you a plus player, he will be in the way again if back next year.
I didn’t watch the game.
How did Lavine do?
IMO, his best game as a King!
Yeah, hard to say anything negative about him re this game.
