Jerry was asked who might be available who he likes and he mentioned Tari Eason. All of you know he is one of my favorite players. IMO better fit than Kuminga. He could be available at least try. A fanspo trade had Schroder and Ellis for Shepard and Eason. IMO you would need to throw in a second or 2 but it would be worth it.
I think the truth of the matter is, Jack, Eason is a very valuable contributing member of the Rockets right now. They value him for what can be accomplished this season as they are contenders. He’s an RFA this summer and they likely can’t afford to retain him so they are all in this year.
If you like Eason that much, hope that the Kings can clear a ton of space to offer him a fat contract the Rockets can’t match. As of today the prospect of that happening is slim to none as the current Kings cap sheet is full.
Seems Eason would be available since Rox have a lot of money committed to or will be to Durant, Smith jr, Senguin, Thompson,Vanfleet . They need to get a player/picks while they can ?
Question to anyone. If the Kings were to trade Sabonis lets say to the Raptors for RJ Barrett, Jacob Poelti, Colin Murray Boles and their 2026 first rounder could they then buy out Poelti for his 19 million. That leaves Barrett, Boles and their first rounder which IMO is a good deal. Can the Kings do this and would it be worth it?
That would be a good if not great deal . However , I don’t think Raptors give up a 1st in that deal plus Poelti would have some value in future deals . RJ Barrett is a much better player than Kuminga .As the Nike slogan says.” Just do it “
Poeltl has 4 more years on his deal at: $19.5M, $27.3M, $29.5, and $27.3. He’s owed more guaranteed money over that span than Domas is owed over the next two season. Poeltl’s contract is toxic, especially if he can’t stay healthy.
On the Raptors fansite, they are pretty high on Murray Boles. I don’t see them giving him up. Poeltl’s contract is a burden.
Once again, a great episode. I don’t know much about Bill Fitch, but if Jerry says he’s and A-hole, then he must be an A-hole.
Heard of an interesting idea for a trade. Domas for Porzingis + Risacher.
Porzingis is expiring. Risacher is the wing gamble that the Kings look at. Maybe he becomes something really good, or he might just be average his entire career. I would want another pick from Atlanta, but I’m not sure they would throw one in.
Domas is great, I like watching him play. I just think the Kings are going in a different direction. Cardwell and Raynaud are younger, cheaper, and have been fine so far in their rookie seasons. I think Cardwell is the type of Center that Perry wants (defensive, shot altering, rim runner, etc).
This trade would move the rebuild up a bit quicker by getting off the Domas contract 2 years early, getting that expiring $30m KP contract, and allowing the Kings the room for Keegan’s contract extension to kick in next season.
I would do this. I don’t think ATL would. I don’t think aromas matches their style of play.
I don’t watch the Hawks. What is their play-style? Is Risacher any good? I remember him in the draft being somewhat polarizing, and the Hawks took him with the hopes that he would live up to the positive traits he had.
I could see a CJ/Daniels/NAW/Jalen Johnson/Domas being a solid group. Add in Kennard and Kispert for spacing, and Okongwu to help in the frontcourt. It seems solid.
I have no evidence, but i think the animosity between Mike Brown and Christie may stem from the fact that Christie was a Vivek plant (remember Nacy Lieberman?), and I would not be surprised if he worked to undermine Brown in an attempt to get the HC job. The stories about there being a Domas camp (backing Christie) and a Fox camp (backing Brown) could support that.
On the other hand, Brown is indeed known for having a short shelf life and as much as we now want to point at the dysfunction stemming from Vivek being the reason for Brown’s firing (undoubtedly true), Brown did also several things to help dig his own grave.
OK. As much as I like Colin Murray Boles I could substitute Grady Dick. Now its Barrett, Ogbachi, Dick and 2026 first round for Sabonis. What say you guys?
The only Dick I mentioned was Vivek.
“I said ‘Grade A Dick,” not ‘Gradey Dick!'”
Kings Legacy player -> Matina. Matina = Vivek.
Doug seems a reasonable guy and who knows, maybe he can coach. Just my opinion, but I don’t think just anyone can do it (be a Head Coach). Just my guess – Doug gifted a job, not gifted in the job, and they hire Mike Brown and insist that Doug Christie is an assistant coach on his staff. A weird request when you think about it.
Doug is now on Mike Brown’s coaching staff, along with Jay Triano (a former Head Coach), Jordi Fernandez (an up and comer who is now a Head Coach) and some others that Mike Brown has picked to be his trusted advisors. And this guy that the owner (see my first line) has installed in my group. Not cool. But Doug is a nice guy and eager to learn…
but when you fired me, you bypassed the former HC (Triano) and the guy who has put in the time during the off season (Luke Loucks) and the others and vaulted the guy who you made me put on the staff as my replacement.
If only Mike Brown’s hug with Vivek was a tribute to Michael Corleone’s kiss to Freddo…

Absent of want/need, if we are talking about a ’26 pick, the two teams that are best positioned are the Celtics (they would retain their #31 pick while dealing their estimated #26 pick), and the Knicks (33/21). One wonders if a team like the Hawks would send its #18 pick for Elis and the Kings #34 or #37 pick (remember, they currently own the #1 slot via New Orleans).
Always fun to have these podcasts.
Thank you again, Will, Tony and TGJR. Please, keep’em coming.
I don’t know why any team would want any of the Kings players we would like to trade.
