Thanks again.
I am sorry to hear Jerry being so grumpy and negative, after he picked me up some episodes ago. Please cheer up and don’t let the Kings get you down, Jerry. There is some nice Finals basketball to look forward to. With real team play and defense!
And I support the call for a banner for coach Adelman!
Great stuff as usual.
And yes to a banner for Rick!
And a banner for Jerry as well.
Jerry has one.
I want him to have 2!!!
I did not know that, thanks!
For his Monarchs GM stint, I believe.
Related, the rafter mockery for me is that Vlade is up there and Peja is not. Peja was the better player by margin. I know that Vlade was the “glue” guy, but Peja was the team’s best player for a couple of those golden year seasons. I could understand neither of them being in the rafters, but not Peja being out while Vlade is in.
Yeah, that’s odd. Peja had 3 AS games, 2 MVP votes rec’d and 1 all NBA. Vlad had 1 AS game. And he went into the HoF as a Laker.
Pega has a jersey retired
The analogy of brining in Tyus Jones is akin to bringing in Darren Collinson is on point. Tyus won’t move the needle one bit and is likely a bottom 5 starting PG in the league no matter where he plays. Just like how Jerry mentioned Corey Joseph in the discussion around Tyus Jones, I thought it was spot on. We are talking about bottom of the barrel starters to solid backup PGs.
Now, if you are down with the Kings hovering 40 wins and sniffing the play-in (Vivek), then Tyus then it would be a fine signing. If, however, you are in the camp of a playoff push or bust, or on the other end of the spectrum to completely blow it up, you are going to be disappointed.
Tyus Jones is who good teams go after…for their bench.
100%, and so is Cole Anthony, whom I’m fond of trying to acquire. The difference is an overpay for Jones in free agency vs a trade for Cole Anthony. I prefer the later because it would likely involve DDR and others.
I want to keep DDR and Monk for your trade odea the other day. Trade both for MJP and I have Daron Holmes factoredn in.
How likely do you think it is for the Kings to find their long-term PG this offseason? I think it’s very unlikely, which leads me to believe that the Kings will keep hunting the bargain bin for stop gap guys for another couple seasons.
Probably best to go find guys like Cole Anthony, or some under the radar guy with “upside” and see if they get lightning in a bottle.
I think you are right.
Unless the move off of Sabonis and/or LaVine to bring in a legit starting caliber PG, I don’t see one on the horizon anytime soon. I can envision a scenario where a guy like Collin Sexton or Dejounte Murray may be available for less, but I don’t think they are major needle movers. Best option is likely a high draft pick in the years to come.
As to under the radar upside, you all already know I’m a fan of Anthony Black and I would also love to poach Cason Wallace from OKC, but those are long shots.
Maybe a long shot of some ideas I came up with, but might help with a bit of a reset and cleaning the cap sheet…
-Monk + JV for RJ Barrett
-DDR for Duncan Robinson and Jaquez Jr (I don’t think they trade Jovic). Save $10m by not guaranteeing Robinson.
-TD + 2nd rounder for Lonzo
-Sign Tyus Jones with part of the MLE or BAE.
Go in to the season with
Starters:
Lonzo, Zach, RJ, Keegan, Domas
Bench:
Thus, Keon, Carter, Jaquez, a re-signed LaRavia, I. Jones.
Still need a backup Center, but I think they end up saving some salary with the moves, which is needed for Keegan Keon extensions.
I don’t think we are going to see that much action this summer from the Kings. I do feel they will look to move DDR. My gut says his camp has likely already hinted they prefer him to be moved. My guess he gets moved for a pittance and the Kings may get involved in one of the major trades likely to happen, as a third team.
As an example, maybe Monk gets flipped to the Bucks in a large Giannis deal with the Kings getting a smaller contract and a couple of seconds or a protected first for adding Monk’s contract to the mix.
It’s going to be an exciting summer for the league, but not so much for the Kings. DDR for Rozier might be as exciting as it gets.
Even if DDR is moved for Duncan + Jaquez, I would call that a win.
How about Monk and DDR for MPJ and Daron Holmes.
You were liking Tre Jones the other day. What happened? I think he is a good fit for one maybe two years until we figure things out.
Also would you considered a trade LaVine for Bane and GG Jackson?
I think he’s just a place holder at a position of need. He’s not bad, just not much of anything that moves the needle.
Enjoyed some negative Jerry since I feel the same way and agree with these three hoopers on most everything Kangz ! Fun listen .
Apathy has also set in for the TKH podcasters.
Majority of fans recognize that there is no hope for the future for this franchise save an actual rebuild which starts with blowing it up this summer which we know won’t happen.
Question. Do you consider trading DDR and Monk as a blow up? Or adding Sabonis now the 3 as a blowup. I really don’t know between these 3 traded as a rebuild or a blowup. Someone help me on this.
Domas, DDR and Lavine imo.
You’re never sniffing a playoff series win with this core, so what’s the point?
May as well rebuild around KE, KM and DC and go from there.
So Sabonis would be a perfect fit for San Antonio. Here’s a trade I would propose.
Barnes, Sheldon Johnson, Jeremy Sochan and their second pick for Sabonis.
We draft Harper with that pick.
Sign Alexander Walker and Kuminga in free agency
Trade Val to Denver for Peyton Watson
Trade LaVine to Philadelphia for Lliard and a second round pick.
They (SA) hang up and block your number.
Yup, that’s closer to what they’d offer for KD for a title run. Domas doesn’t get that.
I think you and your valet are wrong about that. SA would immediately be a playoff competitive team. That means in the playoffs and making it past a couple of rounds.
Maybe if we through in Dedmon it would work for you.
Okie dokie. I am right until the trade happens. You are right the instant the trade happens.
I guess if you never propose something you can’t be wrong. Unless you propose a trade for Dedmon. That one actually happened and we all know how that turned out. I guess I should credit you for thinking like Kings management.
You know, if you don’t stop picking at that it will never heal.
You win the internet, tiger. Resetting you to ignore. Live long and prosper.
I’ve never been fond of professional regurgitators. Sorry I just don’t find you as compelling as you think you are. Stay in the lane here, you get could mileage to use one of your cliches.
That is a great trade offer but would be made to Bucks not Kings . Maybe add no. 14 to sweeten if necessary . Giannis to Spurs would allow Kings fans to watch Fox and Hali compete for an NBA title . Some fun !
Could/should the kings pursue Ben Simmons? What woould it take? What should they offer? A line up of Simmons, Ellis, Lavine, Murray, Sabonis would be *intriguing* at least (length, playmaking, defense, 3-point shooting, rebounding …?). Retain one of Monk or DDR as SG off the bench; retain Carter or Fultz as backup PG; retain JV as back up center. Retain Laravia (if possible) and/or I Jones as wing depth … flesh out roster with (cheap) youth to get to 14.
