I’ll go on record. Okc in 5
Rooting for an OKC and Indy Final. I’d love to see 2 small market teams make it. I’d also like for Vivek to see how to properly build a team (OKC) and what he could have had (Hali). Also, keep in mind the Kings were very interested in Siakam before the deadline in 24′. They apparently didn’t want to include Monk in the deal and Indy ended up getting him.
I do recall that and would have preferred Siakam over DDR. When building a team OKC remembered well there are two sides to the ball. Both OKC and Minnesota can really defend.
Imagine how we’re gonna react if Tyrese ends up winning a championship. 🙁
I, for one, would be really happy because 1) Hali is my favorite ex-King, 2) it would be a lot of egg on Vivek’s face, and really we just can’t have enough of that right that now.
Completely agree.
I would be happy for Tyrese and also happy when more egg/shit/vitriol gets poured over Vivek.
Also, until the Siakam signing the Kings ,at that juncture ,were at least the equal of the Pacers .
100%. The Kings didn’t lose the Sabonis/Haliburton trade. They lost the moves that followed. Indy drafted well and kept making smart moves to add talent via trades. The Kings kept getting close but not finishing deals.
Pacers traded for Hali, drafted Nembhard and Mathurin, traded for Siakam, traded for Toppin. Just smart moves all around.
Crazier still, I thought Indy overpaid for Siakam at the time, but looking at it now, the three first round picks they gave up weren’t that bad. They gave up their own 2024 (turned out to be pick 19), and a 2024 pick from another trade that turned out to be the 29th pick. They owe their own 2026 first, but looking at their success since that trade, Indy would make that same trade every day of the week.
Annoying how other teams continue to make these kind of team-building moves that don’t blow up in their faces. Too bad we didn’t try throwing a big payday to lure Pritchard out of Indiana.
The Kings lost both the Sabonis and Huerter trades. A core of Fox, Halliburton and Murray would look quite nice right now with a first round pick in the next draft. The Kings were on the right path building through the draft and lost patience for a sugar high strategy.
Keep in mind right now, Indiana wouldn’t have made it out of the first round in the west and there at least 5 teams maybe 6 in the west who would defeat both the Knicks and the Pacers. So although a Siakam trade would have helped it wouldn’t have made enough of a difference to make us championship competitive especially in the west.
And who knows had we stuck with Halliburton and Fox, we may have drafted Sengun instead of Michell. Outside of the Bagley disaster the Kings have drafted fairly well with Fox, Halliburton and Murray. They were on the right path and blew up the plan and blew up the future.
Let’s hope now they rebuild differently this time but I doubt it.
blah blah blah. we lost the trade lol
