Kings lose. To the Wizards. What else is there to say? React away. Full recap to follow. Maybe.

Me to the Kings right now.
I don’t even get upset anymore. My apathy set in with this team a while ago.
I just want this season to be done with at this point. Just a beyond broken team.
Same. Just hoping to lose out, everyone is fired or traded, owner sells the team and we keep our pick.
What a fucking embarrassment
Meh, whatever. I don’t even enjoy this team anymore. Ready for them to move on from multiple players.
I haven’t watched a minute of Kings basketball in 2 months and life is good.
Fucing hilarious. Wiz trying to lose, sit Poole half the game. Refs trying to help us out as much as they could. Gloriously Kangztastic!
We control our own destiny. I think we can lose out if we can keep doing what we’re doing.
That’s what got me. The Wiz sat their “stars” down the stretch and went full youth. They are actively tanking and still beat the Kings!!
Kings don’t want to be at work. They know this is a house of cards. Probably know they’re about to get Viveks kid as GM.
Boss has made it a bad place
The vibe is not good in Kangzland.
I feel very dumb right now. For all you Haters out there; you were right, I was wrong.
You’re not dumb. That’s fandom. Deep down we all want this team to succeed. We may have varying opinions on how to achieve that goal, but we are all in this TKH boat together.
This
“Haters” or “realists”?
I take absolutely zero pleasure in being right. My sincere hope is that one day soon I get to be incredibly wrong and this franchise will be on the right track.

Don’t worry, I bet we’ll get them.
Was at the game with family and friends and once we accept that we we’re watching the Kangz had a good time. I did see Monte towards the end of the game and he had the 1000 yard stare of despair
I was there too man. Took my son and my daughter-in-law. We were sitting right behind Monte. I tried my best not to slap his pickle ass head for this extremely flawed roster.
Comments goin crazy on this one, new lows equal new highs for hilariousness of commenters on here. Old Kangz social media team lives here now lol
hello, darkness, my old friend…
Inconceivable!
I mean, it’s just hilarious at this point.
Greg could probably save himself some time and just post all the post-loss threads from now to the end of season instead of waiting until after each ‘game’. copy/paste all the comments from the last few matches to make it look like we were kinda paying attention. and we’ll all get lots of time back to do more productive things
It’s pretty disheartening to see a team just fold a season like this. To be fair, I wouldn’t want to play for Ranadive either. He seems like a nightmare boss.
I’m actually not renewing league pass next year because after all these years, I just don’t really care anymore.
Yes. Vivek is a horrible anchor around the Kings neck. Dragging them down. treating his employees like shit- both sides .Hoops and biz.
its all so unstable. Players/employees work for someone who doesn’t give a shit about anything but himself.
The foundation is rotten and Vivek has created a horrible work environment.
I cancelled my team pass in February, and I’m glad I’m not wasting money watching this garbage team play this year.
Right there with you. I’m just out. Until something actually changes, what’s the point.
A Blazers win against the Raptors tomorrow and a Kings loss on Friday will put the Blazers 2 games out of 10. With 5 left. I wouldn’t discount them. Out of all the teams Dallas, Suns, Kings. It would be crazy if Portland somehow get in.
Blazers have Bulls. Spurs Jazz all up next winnable games. End the season with warriors and lakers. Depends on if Lakers and Dubs are sitting players last couple games. Or still fighting for seeding.
You know the other thing the Blazers have? A pretty good defense. With willing participants. They play like a young, hungry team. I could absolutely seem them doing this.
They certainly have something the Kings don’t. A future. And yes a lot of young young players with lots of potential with the right coach
Blazers are a building up and coming team whose played better, I believe, as of late?
What Kangz should be but alas….Vivereck
The Heat are on a winning streak with a few light opponents. Only one game back of the Kings for lottery positioning.
Also, Heat has a point guard playing at a very productive level . Davion Mitchell !
I think it would be awesome if Portland made the Play-In. That’s a fun young team.
This game was like eating your veggies. It’s not what you wanted but is what you needed for the long term
Hey, I love veggies.
The Wizards bench team were playing for jobs and Kings were playing around !
Just wait till we lose to the Hornets!
I wish. Don’t think it’s possible but would be great.
As I’ve said, before, the only hope of Vivek backing off (or selling) is for the kings to be horrible. So I’m rooting for anything that is a really bad loss.
it’s the only way out of this shit
I think fans, online fans at least, have checked out at this point. Wouldn’t expect the team to though. This is a team of mercenaries waiting for the first Greyhound to Galveston out of here.
I dunno if any of y’all caught The Joker’s 63 point triple-double in Double OT against the TWolves last night. Amazing ending – Denver w/o Jamal Murray and Michael Porter, Jr. – Russell Westbrook with 2 chances to lift Nuggets to the win but carried them to the loss with Minny claiming victory on free throws with 0.1 sec on the clock.
Tonight, AD back to best the Hawks. Mavs now one game below .500.
OKC and Cavs are beasting with 60+ win seasons. Gonna watch LAC next- if they win over Pels, spots 6,7 and 8 with identical records and GSW with a 1/2 game lead at 5.
Lots of wonderful NBA to watch and enjoy.
Just not in Sacramento. The Beam was a dream, the LOL Kangz have returned to roost.
Sigh.
Watching Jokic is incredible. Just an absolute savant.
I’m not sure I have much hope in the Suns catching the Kings. They have a brutal stretch of games. Who I am now watching, with a bit of a chuckle, are the Bulls. It may be that the Kings retain the 10th spot, but the Bulls end up passing the Kings in the overall standings and help the Kings keep their pick.
What a gut punch to management if the Bulls end up besting the Kings in the standings. Fuck em, Kings brass/ownership deserve all the embarrassment there is to catch.
The Heat are only a half game back of the Kings! We are really close.
I’m sure a number of Kings players are already making plans on how to get out of this team.
Sadly, I could easily get on board a trade Sabonis train, and not because I want him gone (I love the dude), it’s because he deserves a better situation.
Yup, I feel the same way about Keon and Keegs too.
We’re back to the fans wanting players who we like to be traded just to get out of here. The full Kangz experience. That’s the problem with bad ownership. You can luck into some success but it’s never sustainable.
100%. And the ideal time to trade him too. He had a phenomenal season and was one of the most impactful players in the league.
Jokes or real thoughts about wanting better for him aside, it would require a real commitment to rebuilding.
You can’t just swap Sabonis for Kyle Kuzma, Portis, and Trent and then expect keep pushing for the playoffs.
At some point you do need to actually get younge, temporarily cheaper, and rebuild the roster like the Thunder, Rockets, Pistons, etc. have all done.
I agree.
I was at the game sitting extremely close to the court. I was whooping and hollering all night and could tell players were hearing me, even if they didn’t acknowledge me.
Towards the end of the game when it was clear they were going to lose, DDR was taking free throws. In a moment of quiet in the arena I shouted “Sabonis even if you leave we’ll still love you!”
It was the only time I got him to look up into the stands all night.
That’s awesome.
Brutal but true. Obviously Giddey and White are playing well for the Bulls but they’ve also gotten bigger contributions from Tre Jones and Collins than we’ve gotten from LaVine (partly due to his duplication of skills and liabilities we already have in the roster).
The fact that the Bulls and Heat pretty objectively have less talent than us, but could finish with a better record if indicative of us not properly building a roster of complementary pieces and doing real team building.
LMAO
Well at least they know how to tank correctly
Success!
Say we do keep the pick, what happens next?
Another season with no direction and youth development?
Unless we luck on a bonafide star that we can build around then we’re never going anywhere.
I might just end up leaving this world never having experienced a kings champsionship.
How else do the Kings get a bonafide star without drafting one? Also, when was there youth development effort?
The Wiz just beat the Kings while starting 3 rookies and 5 dudes 22 years old or younger. When have the Kings attempted that kind of rebuild?
They have, multiple times.
Last time was 2018 when they drafted bagley, had fox, and bogdan bogdanovic? Remember “superteam, just young”?
All Im saying is, we dont have a track record of drafting well mid to late in the draft and the times we did, we traded them away(Hali, Thomas).
I get why people say there is no vision with this team.
Deebo must want out at some point and Im totally fine with him and his ISO ball gone.
I say develop Friar, keep lavine, keegan at the 3, luck out on a 4 at the draft and keep sabonis..
Have Monk, Keon, Laravia(on a reasonable contract), Jonas and whatever you get for Derozan as your bench.
Get a no-nonsensed coach like Brown who will hold players accountable.
Oh, and run the owner out of town.
Brown was far from no nonsense lol
Major problem with Kangztown is zero player development or even much attempt at it. It’s another layer all good franchises have. Someone like Keegan would probably be way better by now, we stunt players growth and mismanage youth/draft picks.
I agree, and thats why it’ll never end unless we stop being fans.
Im just about ready to check out myself and jump the spurs bandwagon for the next couple of years.
Notice Davion Mitchell’s stats in Miami . Very productive with terrific defense .
Laravia is history. Kings are not allowed to pay him more than 5 million. It’s in his contract as part of the trade. He will certainly get close to double that somewhere else.
Sadly the Kings have never rebuilt in the last 20 years. They’ve just been bad. Rebuilding involves a plan and intention. Moving vets for picks and doing everything possible to get a star caliber player. The Kings have never attempted this. The one time they had a shot, Vlade made one of the biggest draft blunders in NBA history.
And I will never get over that, ever.
Yeah, the Kings badly whiffed on Bagley but that doesn’t mean you throw your hands up and say, “see! the draft doesn’t work!”
The Cavs scored on Irving, whiffed on Dion Waiters, whiffed on Anthony Bennet, scored on Wiggins, scored on Mobley. No team hits on every pick, but you keep trying until you get a transformative player.
Dang, I forgot that the Cavs kept getting the number one pick for like three years in a row or something.
Yeah it’s about giving yourself as many shots as possible because you only really have to hit one or two. If you don’t get it one year, do it again.
That 2018 season, we were starting Barnes, Hield, and Bogi, who were all 26. They weren’t really that young. Barnes and Buddy averaged more minutes that year than 2nd year Fox. Bagley was right behind Iman Shumpert in minutes per game, just ahead of 30-year old Bjelica.
Doesn’t really feel like a true rebuild to me. Plus the fact they basically were in line for the 8th or 9th pick every year (aka basketball purgatory), and won the lottery twice in a row.
All that amazing luck, and Vlade still couldn’t properly rebuild.
Monte had some fairly good luck too, with Hali falling to his lap at 13, and winning the lottery to draft Keegan. Could’ve built around those 2, but the Kangz always seem to do the opposite of what is the path to long-term success.
On the one hand the obvious answer is pull off a great trade like with Webber, Harden, SGA, etc.
Arguably we would have been in a good position to do this two years ago when our roster was young, talented, and mostly in good contracts.
But now we are older, worse, and more expensive. Houston isn’t giving up Amen Thompson or potentially selling low on Reed Sheppard to pay Zach LaVine $47M or to get a 36 year old DDR.
At this point without the draft we’d need a Luka-level heist. Not impossible, but a much much narrower path than we had in the past.
Unfortunately this team hasn’t pulled off a “great” trade since Webber, and Geoff Petrie isn’t walking through the door anytime soon. I say clean out the front office and get a group that knows what they’re doing. Attempt to build on a core of Sabonis, Murray and Ellis (they’re the only ones on the roster worth a damn) and ship everyone else. Oh, and lock Vivek in a room in Antartica. It’ll be a rocky road for a few years, but it has to be done.
IMO Sabonis is going to look at the future of where the Kings are going and ask for a trade this summer. This could be one answer to start a rebuild. I love Sabonis but so do other teams. If he doesn’t want to be here then so be it. The Kings could get good value for him. You can also get good trade value for Monk and Derosan and if it were me Carter also. You all probably would think me out of my mind but I really like Fultz. Given a chance he could be a good catch.
Yeah, I can’t imagine he’s looking at the current team and our trajectory and thinking this is where he wants to spend the end of his prime.
I imagine the FO will try to pitch him on how they are going to trade some combo of Monk/DDR/LaVine to feature him more and have a better balanced roster.
But again, without a “home run” trade, it’s hard to see this team competing for even home court is the West, much less actually having a chance to get to the WCF or NBA Finals.
You wanna get really crazy…DDR, Monk, Carter and a first for Damian Lillard.
They better because IMO one player from the draft ain’t going to turn this team around. It could be a start but IMO a rebuild not a complete blow up needs to happen. You can rebuild with players like Murray, Ellis, LaRavia if possible. You have to keep LaVine because of his contract but all isn’t rosey in Sactown. Sabonis, Monk, Derozan and even Carter should get you some younger but up and coming players to add to the mix but IMO it all stops with Vivek. He needs to understand to keep his nose out of who ever is the GM next year. If he can do this which would be a miracle the Kings have a chance to build a better team.
PS If Divac is anywhere near being close to making ANY decisions then all of the above goes down the drain.
I have resigned myself to no championship and I have followed the franchise since they played in the Cincinnati Gardens circa 1964.
Time to let go, good sir. We had 1 great year. They atleast owed us that as loyal fans. I’ve Been a fan since 2001 and I’ve rooted for no other team for the past 24 years.
Im not about to invest in another 4 to 5 year reboot. Ill circle back when they’re atleast competent again.
For the mean time, Im rooting for, and watching spurs games next season instead.
Its all about letting go of that 1 toxic relationship for me.
Honestly, it’s the right decision. Indy is fun. The Spurs should be good if Wemby is healthy. Jokic and Denver are always a blast.
Sadly, for you and Jerry Reynolds it does appear very bleak . Truly sorry !
All I am hearing is that you are the common denominator and this streak of not making the finals is your fault!
These losses too Kangzalicious for ya babe!
I don’t think y’all ready for this smelly.
Kangzaroos takin us way down under
I’m sorry for the Kings fans that had to sit through this, but I’m happy this happened. An utterly disappointing season is the only thing that can potentially lead to structural change within this franchise. I’m not confident that will happen, but it’s the best chance we’ve got.
It’s really the only possible path to relevance at this point. Not saying much but it’s all we got.
Soooo what are we putting on the next billboard?
A poop emoji with Vivek’s face? I don’t know.
We have hit
