I’d like to take this moment to welcome the Sacramento Kings to the 2023 season.
We’re playing the trailblazers without Simons, Williams, and now Brogdon. It’s a tune-up game that’s right on time, but I need to see these guys to compete against some real competition before I’ll believe we’re out of the woods.

Keegan isn’t shooting well but he’s also passing up open looks from three.

idk still not encouraged with what I’m seeing from the team right now. Looking pretty pedestrian vs another bad opponent(that’s even missing key players),but at least it’s a step up from whatever they were doing against Houston the prior 2 games

The starters are all around -9 +/- and its simply because Barnes, Huerter, and Murray are not making open shots.
This offense doesn’t make a lot of sense.

Kings were playing well when they got to the paint and scored some buckets. Then they started relying on the 3 again and, of course, are trailing at the half.

Hopefully it’s just a team wide funk, but I’m starting to get concerned. Should be blowing the Blazers out. SMH
Kings are rebounding more, getting more assists, getting more points in the paint, and generating more shots and more 2nd chance points. They just cannot make layups, open 3s, or free throws. They also cannot play defense.
The defense won’t change without new personnel imo. The shooting has gotta come around, right?
There’s just no way both Huerter and Keegan are gonna keep being this atrocious from deep. Both are shooting 20ish% or something right now which is just insane. The thing is though, this is a team that can’t really afford too much regression offensively because they simply don’t have a good enough defense to be able to bridge the gap if they do drop off a bit. They NEED to be an elite offense with pace if they’re gonna win games with any consistency.
Blazers are 29th in the NBA in FG% and the Kings let them shoot over 50% from the field in that first half, and that was without Simons and Brogdon only playing 5 minutes. They are quite bad on defense
I know it’s easy to talk about Keegan’s misses, but man does this team need Barnes to do something…anything.

If Keegan wasn’t missing absolutely everything he’d actually be having a pretty good game tonight. Running in transition, making good passes, rebounding and defending at a high level.
I think that’s what makes him a good player. If your shots aren’t falling, make up for it elsewhere.
On that break I thought Keegan was going to dunk it in a crowd.

Kings win is nice
Huerter, Murray, Mitchell, Sabonis, Barnes have looked pretty bad over the last 14 games (7 games against Warriors in playoffs and 7 games this season).
Warriors exposed weaknesses on all these guys, now they all need to adjust. So far, they have not, but there are 70+ more games.
Can’t believe it’s been a week and a half since the Kings won. I forgot about the Light the Beam graphic in the corner!
