Kings Fall Down Early and Don’t Recover as Rockets Win 121 to 100

Sacramento dug too deep of a hole early and despite a solid effort in the second half, weren't unable to cut into Houston's lead. Cole Aldrich had his first career double-double in the losing effort.

It's games like this one that show just how far the Kings still are from being a playoff team. Houston manhandled the Kings early, enough to get a comfortable lead that was never in question again.

James Harden scored 29 points on 11-16 shooting for Houston and all Rockets starters finished in double digits. Sacramento was led in scoring by Travis Outlaw's 15 points, which should tell you everything you need to know about this game.

The Kings bench got to see plenty of playing time with the game out of reach so soon. Cole Aldrich had his best game since joining the Kings, and probably since joining the NBA, scoring 12 points on 6-7 shooting with 12 rebounds and 4 blocks against his former team. Patrick Patterson came back from injury but had a rough night with just 8 points on 11 shots. Jimmer Fredette got some extended playing time and scored 10 points (albeit on 14 shots) with 5 assists and 5 rebounds.

Other than John Salmons, who shot 5-8 for 14 points, every other Kings starter had a rough night from the field. Isaiah Thomas did finish with 10 points and 10 assists, but shot just 2-9. Jason Thompson did further his name in the Kings record books by surpassing Wayman Tisdale for 6th All-Time in rebounds in the Sacramento-era. Next up on the list is Lionel Simmons.

DeMarcus Cousins picked up his 16th technical foul of the season in exceedingly dubious fashion in the first half. It was more of a reputation call than for actually doing anything. If the technical is not rescinded, that means Cousins will be suspended for tomorrow's game against the Thunder for reaching 16 technicals on the season. I'd be very surprised if Cousins technical was not rescinded.
