Why it makes sense

Mbah a Moute is known as a defensive specialist. As bench filler goes, a guy who can step in and play defense on the wing is a valuable addition. Mbah a Moute would probably also come pretty cheap, and generally seems like a good guy to have in the locker room.

Why it doesn't make sense

Sadly, injuries have derailed Mbah a Moute's abilities as a defender. He's not terrible, but he's not the defensive stopper he once was. He's been troubled by knee issues, and will turn 29 in December.

The tin foil hat theory

The Kings might not actually have intention to sign him. This could be a "throw out a rumor to show there's a market for a guy". These things happen in the NBA. This isn't even to say an agent or Woj are using the Kings. The Kings could be doing this for Mbah a Moute as a favor.

Final decision

I'm not thrilled by the idea of Mbah a Moute returning to Sacramento, but I'm also not going to get worked up over the guys being added at the end of the bench.
