Elie is the second member of the team to be arrested on DUI charges this season, as forward Antoine Wright faced a similar situation in early November. Wright was later waived, more likely due to on-court issues, as the veteran hardly ever played.

In October 2006, new Kings head coach Eric Musselman was arrested for DUI in downtown Sacramento. He was eventually suspended by the league for two games, and lasted just one season with the Kings. Musselman was reported to have had Darrin May, the Kings' executive director of media relations, in the car with him. May remains employed by the team.
