In his State of the City address on Monday, Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson unveiled a plan to raise $5-10 million in funding for a new downtown entertainment and sports complex by selling engraved personal bricks at the site. As in other places with personalized bricks — Disneyland, for example — residents and fans would pay a premium to have a brick engraved with their name and set into a promenade.
No details on the timing, pricing or specific locale of the bricks are known just yet, but stay tuned. There will definitely be a Sactown Royalty brick.
