Kings 100, Rockets 105: What a way to start the season

A really fun game capped by one of the more confusing things I’ve ever seen

What a way to start the season. The Sacramento Kings fell to the Houston Rockets 105-100, in what was an incredibly fun game capped off by one of the most frustrating and confusing sequences I’ve ever seen.

Let’s start with the end. The Kings were trying to make a late run at the Rockets. The ball was inbounded to Eric Gordon, with George Hill defending. The ball goes out of bounds, seemingly off Eric Gordon’s hands. The call on the floor is Kings ball, but it will be reviewed. The refs come back from review and assess a foul on Hill. Mass confusion.

It very much seems the refs retroactively assessed a foul during review. As far as we know, this isnt allowed. It was such a weird, frustrating way to take away Sacramento’s momentum. It really soured a fun night.

About that fun? De’Aaron Fox is incredible. Willie Cauley-Stein and Skal Labissiere both recorded double-doubles. Vince Carter had some great moments. It was really great, and promises to be a fun year for Kings fans, but right now I’m too hung up on how it all ended.

We’ll have a full recap up in the morning.
