Kings Reach Agreement With Sleep Train for Arena Naming Rights

By | 0 Comments | Feb 21, 2019

The Sacramento Kings today announced that they have reached a multi-year deal for arena naming rights with Sleep Train Mattress Centers. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Sleep Train has been the only real rumored contender for the naming rights, and while there were reported hiccups early on in the process, those appear to have been smoothed out.

The Arena will change from Power Balance Pavilion to Sleep Train Arena officially in November, presumably in time for the home opener. As many already know, Power Balance went bankrupt shortly after signing the current naming rights deal, probably because their products don't actually do anything. Sleep Train on the other hand, is a locally owned company and one of the top mattress sellers on the West Coast. It's a small difference, but I like seeing a local company featured prominently among the Kings sponsors, a growing number of which are corporations with no specific ties to Sacramento.

In addition to the arena naming rights, Sleep Train also owns the naming rights to the Sleep Train Amphitheater near Yuba City.

UPDATE (3:00 PM): The Bee reports that the deal is for 5 years and included opt-outs in case the team moves during the contract.
