Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN is reporting that the Sacramento Kings and New York Knicks are in discussions to swap a pair of big men, Zach Randolph and Enes Kanter:

New York and Sacramento discussing an Enes Kanter-Zach Randolph trade of expiring contracts, but nothing close yet, league sources tell ESPN. Kings would want to send out more expirings in a deal. A third team could be helpful.

Wojnarowski mentions that the Kings would like to send out additional expiring contracts, possibly that of Kosta Koufos or Ben McLemore, but a third team may need to get involved. Kanter, the third overall pick in the 2011 draft, has recently fallen out of favor in New York. He’s a talented center who could solve many of the glass cleaning problems currently facing Sacramento, as he sports the seventh-highest rebounding percentage in the NBA at 19.2%.

Although the Knicks big man is no rim protector, he would still offer an upgrade off of the bench for Dave Joerger, recording 14.4 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 54% from the field. His current salary stands at $18 million, so a swap of Randolph and McLemore would be nearly cap neutral for the Kings, reducing their available space from just over $11 million to just under $10 million.
